My major is nursing and taking this course is a prerequisite and is required for my major. Taking Biology courses will help me be better knowledgeable in my chosen field. Psychodynamic Perspective- There is four major perspectives in psychology: Psychodynamic, Behaviorism, Humanistic, and Cognitive. Each theory represents a psychology approach to unlock the human mind. A psychology approach is known as a perspective; today there are many different approaches in psychology that contain specified beliefs about the mind and Human Behavior. Individually each perspective is different they have their strong points and weak points, however each perspective does represent important assumptions that were fundamentally researched with methods and questions that are used to answer inquiries in psychology regarding human behavior and the mental process.

The Psychodynamic Perspective focuses on unconscious mental activity. This perspective suggests that both normal and abnormal behaviors are determined primarily by unconscious forces (Ya- Ling Wang and Yi-Cheng Wang). The Behavioral Perspective focus on observable behaviors; but does not speculate about mental processes such as thinking (Ya Ling Wang and Yi-Cheng Wang). It also focuses on learning in understanding how various behaviors occur.

The Biological approach believes our genetic makeup and the Central Nervous System (CNS) is what controls our behaviour. One theory used by the Biological Approach is that our brain activity could be directly linked to our behaviour (Hebb`s book, The organisation of Behaviour 1949). This approach is the most scientific and combines psychology and biology to explain human behaviour. Methods of research identified with the Biological approach to support this theory are experimental within a laboratory, field and natural environment on both animals and humans, observations, case studies and collection of data from interviewing or questionnaires or secondary data e.g. medical records.
