Bruce and Clark
To the ordinary citizen of any given suburb, town, or city the names Bruce and Clark do not particularly stand out to be special or significant. If one was to ask an ordinary citizen if he or she had heard of Batman and or Superman, one could bet that those names would be labeled as special and significant. Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent otherwise known as Batman and Superman have lived in America's comic books, movies, cartoons and hearts for well over fifty years. Protecting the streets of Gotham City and Metropolis, these crime fighters have given a great deal to humanity, and although they have many similarities, their childhood and upbringing are quite different.

Super friends, yes. Super upbringing, yes and no. Superman was born to two superhuman slash geniuses on the planet Krypton. The planet was doomed by natural forces, which would eventually destroy it. Superman's father predicted this fate and prepared for it while others called his predictions nonsense. Therefore, when the planet's doom became present Superman's father had built a prototype of a shuttle that would rocket his family and he to safety. Since it was only a prototype it could only carry very little weight, Superman. Superman's parents had died and he had crash landed on the planet earth where he was adopted by a married couple (the Kents') who were farmers in the Mid-West (and named Superman Clark after Mrs. Kents maiden name). By being born on the planet Krypton Superman was born with powers that were neither seen nor heard of by the people of earth. This gave Superman the advantage and convenience of already having superpowers, including super speed, strength, and x-ray vision.
In contrast, Batman was born to wealthy reality owners in Gotham City (some say Gotham is Chicago, others say New York, no one knows for sure). At approximately seven years old Bruce was walking home with his parents after watching The Mask of Zorro, and they were mugged by a small time thief named Joe Chill. Only Two people walked away from that mugging, Bruce and Joe. Bruce had witnessed his parents' death and would traumatized and full of vengeance for the rest of
Batman is human and is from Gotham City while Superman is not human and is from another planet called Krypton. Superman’s planet was getting destroyed by another being so his parents sent him to Earth. When he came to earth he got adopted by a caring couple that lived in a small town of Smallville, Kansas. Batman is a wealthy businessman who lives in Gotham City. Superman’s adoptive family lives on a farm and are farmers.
Superman, also known as Clark Kent, is the most popular modern day hero. Superman spent most of his time saving people from natural disasters and corrupt businessmen. He would level slums to force the city to build decent housing, and he would use his powers to terrorize munitions makers.
Who was George Rogers Clark? This is probably a question most people in America couldn't answer. The reason is very simple, George Rogers Clark was a hero in an age of heroism. He simply could not compare with the legends of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and other Revolutionary War heroes. Clark nevertheless is very important, especially to the people of Kentucky, Illinois, and Indiana who became apart of the United States of America because of his great leadership and bravery in military campaigns at Kaskaskia, Illinois and Vincennes, Indiana during the Revolutionary War.
Heroes have the tendency to fight crime or serve the public without having to have a personal reason, this is not the case for Batman. Batman regularly, if not constantly, fights crime for his own benefit. While Batman was still Bruce Wayne, his parents were killed by a soon to be supervillain, this caused him to have an alternative motive to become a “hero.” Even if he does not directly advance on his parent’s murder, he still attacks ever villain that he thinks did him an injustice. “He smashes any and everything in his way while pursuing his ends,” (Wilson). While Batman smashes through his own intentions, Captain America fights crimes/serves the city for the people not for his own benefit. Batman might seem to be doing what a hero is supposed to do, but he is merely trying to avenge his parents death. “ Police are perplexed, worried the group will turn into vigilantes and doubt that the superhero policy is ever stopped any crime,” (source A). This is the same with Batman; the police do not know what to fashion of him, but are worried that he will insert himself in trouble. Batman might seem to be doing activities for others, still he does them for himself.
Bruce Wayne playboy millionaire. Everyone in Gotham knew his name. He saw his parents die when he was eight they were walking thru what's now known as crime alley. Every one in Gotham knew the story and every one knew of his two boys Richard Grayson and Jason Todd. Orphans both of them Richard's parents died when he was eight in a circus act and Jason's nobody really knows he didn't talk about them much before he died. Poor boy really some sickness they said he got from living on the streets.
But whence digging past the loud colours and the "it's-a-bird-it's-a-plane," generic, one realises the true face of Superman. He isn't super for his inhuman abilities or his capricious appearance, he isn't a true man for his strong build and his appealing features: Superman is super because he's what everyone should aspire to be, and he is a man because he melds the world in a form of good and good only. For if Superman wanted to, he could rule the world and no one would be able to stop him. Superman is, literally, a god among men. He has the power to sink entire continents and kill millions of people with ease, but he chooses to protect everyone, good or bad, no matter how insignificant and tiny the life is for nothing in return. Superman is a hero because he's there for everyone, never compromising his ideals and taking the high road to support those in need. This is despite the fact that he could basically be a god lording over others without much trouble, but instead chooses to serve and inspire. That is why he is a hero. Superman is the ultimate hero, and not just because he is the most powerful being on earth but for his integrity which sets him completely apart. One could constantly remark on how Superman looks for the best in everyone, how he is ultimately loyal and selfless, not even considering the fact that he could rule the world but chooses to serve is the greatest compliment you can
Batman and Superman are poles apart, but, when it comes to certain aspects of their lives, they can be found to be similar. Both Batman and Superman are extremely popular comic book superheroes who have had multiple television shows and movies made about them. Batman and Superman show up at similar times in the comic book world and are published in the same comic book brand: DC Comics. Moreover, they both have superhero costumes and despite the color themes, the costumes follow the pattern of having their logo on their chest followed with a cape in the back. They are also alike in terms of their secret identities. Batman is actually Bruce Wayne and Superman is actually Clark Kent and they both live normal lives when they are not out saving them. Both of these characters have childhoods where both men did not know their parents very well because their parents died when they were young, making both of them orphans. When they start
Batman and Superman are both very popular Superheroes that have many DC fanatics behind them. Each has their own style and methods of achieving justice. Superman is an authentic superhero with great powers and Batman is just a crime fighter with technology and money. In the end, Superman should be considered a better hero than Batman.
Superman: America’s Savior The name Superman encompasses the resonating factors that have contributed to Superman’s lasting cultural impact, the fact that he is able to be superhuman while retaining an undeniable sense of humanity. Since his first comic book appearance nearly 80 years ago Superman has been portrayed across many diverse platforms, in many forms, in many countries. For the purposes of this paper the focus will be on the 2006 film Superman Returns and the 2013 film Man of Steel, which being targeted for American audiences, present the characters through a lens of American values. In their respective films Superman Returns and Man of Steel, Brian Singer and Zack Snyder each present decidedly different versions of Superman, yet they are both ultimately guided by the theology that an American savior needs human characteristics.
This may be due to the fact that he is trying to avenge his parents' death. During one of the episodes, there was a device that could show the deepest secret of a person and Bruce Wayne used this device. From this it was revealed that a major reason for him becoming Batman was because of the incident. Throughout many of the episodes, this theme appears many times.
Batman originally began as a DC Comics' detective a superhero quite different from the one envisioned by Nolan and company today. Batman was created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger in 1939 for Detective Comics, and for more than two decades it depicted a hero defined by his mystery-solving techniques and cast of quirky characters against whom his braininess and eccentric costume could be balanced (along with his knack for solving crimes). Needless to
Batman is one of the many fictional superheroes which appears in the “American comic books” that is published by the DC comics. The character is a secret identity for Bruce Wayne, the only heir to Wayne Enterprises. Bruce Wayne swore an oath of vengeance when he witnessed the death of his parents;Thomas Wayne and Martha Wayne (Diamond, 2015). Bat man combats criminals in Gotham: a fictional city, with assistance from various characters, for example, his butler Alfred and Gordon; Gotham city police commissioner. Unlike many of the superheroes characters, Batman possesses no powers .Bruce Wayne trained himself intellectually and physically .it is from dedication to training he possessed the useful traits of physical prowess, martial arts skills, detective skills and indomitable will to fight for justice. Though his motive is to combat crime and protect people of Gotham city from criminals, the justice system in most of the times views Batman as a villain and vigilante. He can inflict fear to Gotham city criminals thereby bringing calmness to the city. I identify myself with the Batman character through his selfless will for justice, his strong determination to do good
Another way in which Batman displays himself as a Byronic hero is his function as a subversive character which refuses to submit to demonic forces. He tries to appear to be a man who is morally upright. However, Batman is unable to separate himself from the pain of his parents ' untimely death, which gives him a new identity as a mysterious masked crime fighter. In most books and films, he tries to put this tragic incident behind him without much success. As Peter J. Tomasi indicates, “instead we see a presentation of Batman’s powers by exacting strange acts in the name of justice like teleporting hotheaded” (1).
Batman’s violent actions in Frank’s Miller comic book demonstrated the darkness of his heroic personality. After ten year retirement, Batman became more troubled to Gotham City turning to a crime-ridden and a fugitive. According to Joseph Campbell words “everything begins with a story”. The beginning of Batman’s story started after the death of his parents. They were shot by some criminals because they were going to steal and hurt them. Having to experienced this horrible scene on his childhood, traumatized Batman
Superman was from a planet called Krypton. His dad sent him to Earth on a rocket ship in order to save him from the attack on their planet. Upon arriving to Earth, Superman gained power after absorbing the yellow sun rays. As his powers grew stronger, he started to utilize them in a positive way.
