1. This film had an immense mixture of subgenres in it. The most prevent one to me was romantic comedy but I also noticed that there were aspects of the buddy film genre. The film also included parts which could be considered Drama, there was defiantly musical aspects and it also included a whole section based on a flash back which you could argue is a subgenre in film.
2. This film used comedy to help scent the different characteristics of each sub-genre. There was classic rom-com comedy of the boy trying to get the girl and failing. The juvenile comedy often seen in some buddy comedies was well. And throughout the movie we saw a satirical take on religion as well as the juxtaposition between reality and the musical numbers in the film.
To start, the film seems like your basic run-on-the mill coming of age tale with a group of teenagers growing up to desire more after they graduate high school. However, there are various more themes discreetly displayed throughout the runtime of the film. For example, one central sociological overtone of this film is Marxism. With this overtone, it becomes possible to view this light-hearted and comedic movie in a

The second criteria is acting, which is defined as “the practice of representing a character before cameras” (“Acting n.d., para. 1.). Lastly, the third piece of criteria for this review is the profound message and profound is defined as, “extending under the surface” (“Profound” n.d., para. 1). The audience for this review is somebody who has not seen the movie Napoleon Dynamite, someone who has a different opinion on the movie or
The film consists of many cliché western characters. There is a banker, an outlaw, a prostitute, a doctor, a gambler, and a pregnant woman. These characters are categorized by social class. The banker, the pregnant
This movie based off of a southern family living in Memphis, Tennessee will show you a true taste of southern hospitality. In every film you have your list of characters along with their personalities and most importantly their motives. Along with the certain qualities of every character comes the ethos, pathos, and logos. Ethos which stands for the goodness of a film and/or ethics goes hand in hand with the sender of a film, Pathos which is the passion and emotions of a film which goes hand in hand with the receiver, and lastly the logos which is the logic/information that sends a message. Each rhetoric sends a message and surely puts a movie together.
Because there are no conventional story ideas or dialogue, the film takes its message from the tone
This movie Directed by Paul Haggis who also directed Academy Award Winning "Million Dollar Baby" and had also won an Academy Award for this movie as well puts a twisted story in this film. This movie is trying to symbolize what goes on in the world today in regards to racism and stereotypes. He tries to make a point on how societies view themselves and others in the world based on there ethnicities. This movie intertwines several different people's lives, all different races, with different types of beliefs. Such ethnicities include Caucasians, African Americans, Hispanics, Asians and Middle Eastern. This movie includes conflicts on both sides of the picture from cops and criminals as well
The playwright was trying to get quite a few messages when he created this play. First of all, I believe he was trying to show social change and the power and potential that an individual has inside of them, despite their circumstances. I think that this play/movie reveals the true messiness of life and how with the right mindset, you can make it through anything you
It didn’t help me to analyze anything from the book or make any good connection with the themes. The movie and the novel share one thing in common, which is the main characters struggle with society. The main character in the movie, Charlie, battles with his love for religion (Catholicism) and his Mafia ambitions. The movie has an abrupt ending with a scene of an ambulance and paramedics arriving to help Charlie and Johnny that have been shot by the man they owe money to. The movies main purpose was to illustrate the cultural and ethnic situation of the time and how it impacted the youth’s

Mateship in Australian Films Mateship has long been a major aspect of the national image as projected by Australian films, yet the moralities of mateship and the image of men as mates did not go unchallenged. Australian cinema as a significant part of the whole industry of image-makers in the country, the way it portrays mateship, the single most important mythic element in the cultural identity of Australia, is worth analysing. This paper first reviews the historical background of mateship in Australia and its contemporary development. The review here serves as a general discussion of mateship that provides the potential readers with some basic understandings of the idea, and as background
The film begins by introducing each of the five characters. John Hughes gives us five common archetypes with each of his characters including: a jock, a popular princess, a geek, a criminal, and basket case. These generic characters make it easier for the audience to relate to one of the characters in the film. Andy, the jock, is the generic high school athlete, or so it seems.
Comedy”. 2 It was called the sleeper hit of the decade, and gained extreme notoriety for its breakage of traditional cinematic taboos, in that it showed rather explicitly both sex and especially, raw and brutal violence. It greatly surprised both the
The musical film has always held a special place for me. From my time as a drama student in high school, my eyes have been opened to the amazing world of the musical and especially the musical film. The musical film is a film genre in which the characters sing songs that are integrated into the overall story. Since musicals first began in theaters, musical films usually contain similar elements. These elements often simulate that there is a live audience watching. In a sense, the film viewers become the audience members, at a theater production, as the actor performs directly to them. Due to the popularity of musicals in the theater, the style was quickly brought over into film. In 1927, the musical film genre began
Sullivan’s Travels stands out as a Screwball Comedy because it incorporates aspects of escapism which can be seeing in the end of the movie. It also has a strong female character who is chasing after the man. One other characteristic is the romantic aspects of the films as screwball comedies are spoofs of romantic comedy.
