Both of them share some similarities as well as differences. Both of these religions were founded based upon different principles taught by different people; in Buddhism’s case Gautama Buddha a thinker and in Christianity’s it is Jesus Christ who is a prophet. Buddhism and Christianity are closely related in many unique ways. While their founders exhibit significant differences in when they began their existence in the world, their teachings hugely resemble each other. Gautama Buddha was reported to have lived about 600 or 500 before Christ was born. Buddha was born in Nepal, India while Jesus was born in Bethlehem, which is currently located in Palestine. Both Jesus and Buddha espoused altruism and always insisted in service of others. They emphasized the need for giving than receiving and both believed in love as the only tool of defeating hatred. Both teachings contained the need not to judge others. A key difference between the two was how Buddha taught followers to lose one’s self to receive Nirvana while Jesus encouraged his people to lose one’s self in order to receive an everlasting life (Talim, Jeffrey & Anant, 67). This assignment attempts to highlight the similarity between Jesus’s Sermon on the Mount and Gautama Buddha’s Jataka Tales.

Buddhism has been the main religion of china for several thousands of years. In fact, Buddhism is an indispensable element of Chinese philosophy and literature. As we all know, Buddhism originated in India and first spread to China around 100BC. Nevertheless, (Mahayana) Buddhism in China separated itself from the mainstream Buddhism and created a new form of Bodhisattva precept instead of following the Indian Vinaya precept. The distinct Chinese history and culture played significant roles in the development and formation of Mahayana Buddhism . The change of Chinese society also had a great impact on the doctrine and status of Mahayana Buddhism. In this paper, I will illustrate the reason why Buddhism was widely accepted by China as an alien religion , analyze how the indigenous philosophy such as Taoism and Confucianism affected the Mahayana concept and find the relationship between Mahayana Buddhism and Chinese Imperialism.
Buddhism, in contrast to Christianity, is a non theistic religion, which originated in India during the 5th century BCE follows Siddhartha Gautama teachings and spiritual practices. Through The Silk Road, merchants and missionaries from South Asia alike spread the religion to China around 1st century CE. The first account of Buddhism in China was recovered by Chinese Emperor Ming saying, “It may be assumed that travelers or pilgrims brought Buddhism along the Silk Roads…” This account is just one of many, and as time passed many more were recorded and documented, and the account marked the spread of Buddhism throughout China. Buddhism offered an great appeal to the people of China, who at the time were in an era of discourse and distress. Its message of peace and harmony seemed like an great escape from their dire circumstances at that point. Zhi Dun, a Chinese scholar talks about the charm that Buddhism has and how if one were to follow Buddha's steps and rules he would, “...behold the Buddha and be enlightened in his sport, and then he will enter Nirvana.” Nirvana for these people was a great comfort, and one they chose to take apart in by converting to Buddhism. The beliefs of Buddhism, like

Buddhism is a religion that began in India approximately 500 years before the birth of Jesus Christ and was founded by Siddhartha Gautama. Since Buddha wrote nothing about the religion, most of the Buddhist texts emerged 150 years after his death and during a period with several divisions among people of this faith. The task of categorizing the foundation of Buddhism is remarkably difficult because of the developing and adaptability of the religion's accounts. However, similar to other religion, Buddhism has an influence on worldview, especially in countries where it has been enjoined to the social and political life.

Southeast Asia, particularly India, is the birthplace of many religions. India is where these two religions arose: Buddhism and Hinduism. Hinduism is a very ancient belief system derived from the lifestyle of Southeast Asia. It still has a strong presence in its place of origin and it is characterized as a family of religions. An offspring of Hinduism, Buddhism is also a family of religions, except it has less of a strong presence in its place of birth. Yet, situated to the East area of the world, it is the leading denomination. Similarly, both religions utilize the term “Dharma”, the way of life and thought, to describe their customs. The only difference in this respect is that Buddhists link it to the teachings of Buddha, who is the founder of their faith. Both religions have a long history and are still active today and with one deriving from the other makes them comparable in some ways. However, Buddhism and Hinduism are also contrasting in aspects like each religion 's clergy, rituals, prayers, places of worship, and religious objects.
