Canvasing Program Research Paper

The program is both social and academic. I was too ambitious to productive during my last summer of high school. Thus, despite being financially struggle, I tried my best to use my savings to attend the program, with the help of tuition scholarships. In here, I built great connections with faculties and friends, whom I still stay in contact and who are helping me with my academic endeavor. Being an on child who was raised protectively in home and never allow to go on field trip, I thought this was a unique program that allows me to gain independence being far away from home and support myself. The program taught me how to get along with roommates and how to be friends with different people before my real college life started. In the beginning, I shed blood and tears, missing my parents so much. However, I knew that the most difficult obstacle to overcome is overcoming myself. Before coming to Boys State, I was negative towards and opposed to any kind of camp, youth group, or “educational getaway.” I have always been that type of kid who never wanted to bond with others my age and in essence, leave my comfort zone. The only exception to this was if I were accompanied by a friend (someone whom I was comfortable around and close with). When I first found out about Boys State, I deleted the email (like I would normally and truthfully do). Weeks passed, and the deadline for registration was closing in. I knew that I was about to start my college career so I had to take serious action to prepare myself. I was willing to go above and beyond to get the right things in my mind and absorb all the essentials. I read books, watched videos on YouTube, and even ask actual college students about their intake on “college life.” I took all the information I could in hope that I would achieve my goal of passing my upcoming courses. Sophomore year was extremely difficult for me. You know how most people go through a rough patch at some point in their life? Well, that was me all of Sophomore year, everything just seemed too big and scary to deal with, and so I basically put everything off. The guidance counselors always use to say when we were going into high school that we would need to stay on top of things before they started to pile up. I just thought that they were just being dramatic to try and scare us into doing our work, but they really weren’t. By the time I realized this, however, it was a little too late, and I was faced with two options; attend summer school to regain the credit that I had lost, or face my peers when school started up again and be two credits

The summer after my sophomore year an experience changed me. I attended a Syracuse Summer College Program to study Fashion Design and Creative Writing. There I became friends with a small group of kids who were incredibly self motivated. Working with and around them inspired me to try harder.

On my first day I thought it was going to be easy, and it was at first because I knew some people there and they showed me where some of my classes were going to be. But, then through out the day I started confusing my classes and I would get lost… once you’re there for a longer period of time you start to get used to it. Your grades will seem harder to keep up with if you start slacking on your work. It gets hard in High school; this is the time where it counts the most. They might move you to Desert Winds if you start slacking off in school; half of my friends who are freshman are already there. I thought keeping my grades up would be easy but its not, there are times where you’ll struggle but there’s always help. If your grade start to go down there’s going to be a problem, you might have to retake that class next year or they’ll just move to another school for credit recovery.

I attended the Florida water adventure camp last summer, and from that experience I grew significantly. I did not know what to expect once I got there, and I turned out to be underprepared. I also developed a bad cold right before going to the camp, which lasted for the first week of the adventure. This on top of not being prepared for the camp made it quite difficult, but I prevailed through endurance and the will to enjoy the experience. The first week was hard because I did not feel well, and I was stressed about being underprepared, but I learned to cope with both of these situations by making the best of the experience. A blank canvas is a start to make magnificent art, but a messed up painted one is worse than a blank one. Blank for imagination. Imagination you need to keep a young one going and an old one from slowing. Don't doubt young artists because you don't want them to succeed. If you do they might look at you and think you are troubling grief. Your struggles are like the swift stroke of a brush on a partially painted surface. As one stroke up to thirty one strokes down. If you do the best you can sometimes without all ease, then your life will be just like a masterpiece.

Canvas is a program I have various forms of interest in being effective at navigating. First and foremost, the delivery of my masters degree was through Canvas, making my understanding of it essential for success. Second, Canvas is used in my current position, so it benefited me to understand the user experience since I'm currently working to build out the course shell for my culinary classes. Third, Canvas is often used in online education, which is an area of employment I am interested. Exploring Canvas, using it effectively, and understanding it's capabilities provides many levels of professional purpose.

In elementary school, I wasn’t the kind of person to participate regularly. I didn’t bring cupcakes on my birthday and I was always incredibly quiet around new people. So I was surprised with myself when I decided to sign up for summer WRAP. If you’re unfamiliar with what WRAP is, it's a program where they entertain you for a couple hours. The only problem was, none of my (three) friends were attending. By the time I realized this, it was too late to quit. So I was going to be spending my entire summer with a bunch of strangers.
