According to the WHO, cardiovascular diseases have been the leading cause of death globally claiming 17 million lives a year, more deaths than all cancer combined (Chiu and Radisic, 2013). Cardiovascular disease is responsible for a preponderance of health problems and its impact is expected to grow further as the population ages. In the UK, NHS spends about £7.74 billion as the expenditure to deal with cardiovascular diseases (Barton et al., 2011). Cardiovascular disease in the form of myocardial infarction has become the principle cause of death in developed countries, accounting for nearly 40% of all deaths (http://www.bhf.org.uk/). Congenital heart defects, which occur in nearly 14 of every 1000 new-born children, is another tragic fact that baffles medical industry (http://www.heart.org/). About 61 million Americans (almost one-fourth of the population) live with cardiovascular diseases, such as coronary heart disease, congenital cardiovascular defects, and congestive heart failure.

Cardiovascular disease has reportedly been the number one disease killer for men and women in the United States of America. Every one out of four deaths is caused by heart disease in the United States alone (Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention). Heart disease refers to the different types of conditions and symptoms that can affect the one’s heart and its functions to the body (Mayo Clinic). Cardiovascular/Heart disease has many causes and conditions, prevention methods and symptoms, and treatment options.

Coronary heart disease is one of the leading killers in America. I will later discuss why this is the case, and how the choices of Americans will inflict the ultimate price of death. Aside from bad decisions, the anatomy of where this disease takes place is fragile in regards to bodily malfunctions. The reason it is called coronary heart disease is because it takes place in the coronary arteries. These arteries are what supplies the heart with oxygenated blood. So you can guess that if something goes wrong with these arteries, it could be detrimental for the entire body because the heart pumps blood to the whole body. The right and left coronary arteries branch from the aorta, which is the main supplier of blood to the systemic circuit. The

Etiology – Hypertensive heart disease is associated with high blood pressure related to the heart's arteries and muscles. Blood is transported to the heart by coronary arteries. High blood pressure causes blood vessels to become narrow which can cause the blood flow to the heart to slow and even stop. Sometimes blood clots form and get stuck in the narrowed arteries and put the person at serious risk of a heart attack.

Throughout the United States there are many illnesses and diseases, though there is only one disease that kills about six hundred ten thousand people yearly, heart disease. Six hundred ten thousand people yearly is the reason why heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, that is one in every four deaths. Seems like a serious and scary situation correct; if you knew about this information would you have done something sooner or begin doing something? An individual can do many changes in their lifestyle to prevent heart disease from developing in their body and the best way to make those changes is to act now.

The leading number one killer of the United States population is coronary heart disease. Coronary heart disease happens when not enough blood flow reaches the heart, which possibly will cause a heart attack. The main people who are at risk from this disease are the smokers, people who are diabetic, have high blood pressure, high cholesterol and genetic risk factors. The chances of getting heart disease also increase the older one gets.

In today's world, there is a rise in the US population adopting unhealthy lifestyles that lead to cardiovascular disease. Cardiovascular diseases are also known as heart diseases. This is a class of diseases that affect the heart and the blood vessels. The blood vessels are the arteries, capillaries, and the veins. How would you feel if you were put in a situation where you had to deal with a friend’s cardiovascular attack? Sadly, according to American Heart Association, 70% of Americans would feel helpless in the event of a cardiovascular incident. This is why all Americans, even young, should learn CPR.

Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) is a type of heart disease where plaque accumulates in the coronary arteries, which provide blood to the heart. The plaque is made of cholesterol deposits, and when it builds up in the arteries, it causes the arteries to slowly narrow (atherosclerosis). A very common symptom of CAD is angina, which is caused by the buildup of plaque. Angina is chest pain that is caused by reduced flow of oxygen rich blood to the heart. This makes the heart muscle weak, and can lead to another symptom of CAD, arrhythmia. Arrhythmia is an irregular heartbeat. However, sometimes these symptoms don’t show up at all. The first indication of CAD in some people is a heart attack. A heart attack is when a plaque buildup blocks an artery completely and thus, stops blood flow to the heart.

The one factor from Life Simple 7 that I want to change is my weight. The main reason is because it is one of my biggest insecurities and it is corrigible. I know that I am overweight and very close to being obese. My weight puts me at risk for diabetes and heart disease, and those are two things I do not want to have to deal with. I have self-diagnosed belonephobia (fear of sharp objects especially needles); I do not want to have to inject myself everyday with insulin in order to eat a meal. When I have kids, in the future, I do not want to set a bad example for them; I want them to live healthy long lives with a positive role model.

Heart disease is the number 1 killer in the United States of America. It’s important to have a heart protection strategy, especially as you get older. It should include exercise and a healthy diet, plus supplements for heart health as needed. Know your cholesterol, blood pressure and ideal weight. Lower risk factors and prevent early disability, illness or even death from heart disease. And although you can't help heredity, you can certainly be aware of any risk factors that may have been passed down through your family tree. After following the steps in this assignments all of the supplements I would recommend along with the information I have given you here are proven to help in preventing heart health. Most can be safely taken in combination.

In my way of thinking, Cardiovascular Disease is one of the easiest or better yet one of the only diseases that you can prevent. You can prevent it by basically having a healthier lifestyle. By that I mean eating healthier, exercising, and not smoking. But I am mainly gonna focus on eating healthier since that it is most important. Eating healthier is huge because if you eat a lot you’ll gain weight which will cause your respiratory system to work harder. Also if you eat healthy you’ll get sufficient vitamins and protein needed to be healthy. Also this ties into exercising because if you have a healthy diet, you might as well exercise to get even more healthy. Heart disease is a major epidemic that is destructive and incurable. Every 1 in 4 deaths in America alone are caused by a diseased heart. People who are at risk are smokers, type 2 diabetics, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, obesity or overweight, unhealthy diet, lack of physical activity, and genetics. Some examples of heart diseases are marfan syndrome (which affects the body’s connective tissues.), cardiomegaly (which is an enlarged heart due to some other type of heart condition.) and lastly atrial fibrillation (which is when the heart has irregular electric signals leading the person to have irregular heart rhythms.)
