R/s around November 05, 2014, Calli (8) was severely injured. R/s Calli had extensive bruising to her face, two black eyes, facial swallowing, and bruising to her jaw. R/s also bruises was on the child’s lower back and upper leg. R/s it was reported that Calli could have had skull fracture. R/s the injuries was reported as suspicious nonaccidental trauma. R/s at the time of the incident Calli and her stepmother, Karen were the only two people at home. R/s Calli’s father Patrick was traveling out town for work. R/s on November 06, 2014, Patrick found Calli with the injuries to her face and the child was taken to the ER at Palmetto Health. R/s Karen pretended to the Calli’s mother. 1:10pm- IRTC called the source who validated the narrative and expressed that the injury was observed yesterday (11/27/17). Source voiced that the injury appeared to be more like a rash; since the child has a history of eczema, they didn’t think much of it. Source uttered that the subject child’s mother called inquiring about the injury and wanted to know if the subject child fell at the daycare. Source stated that the child did not fall, but it was recommended for the child to be brought for a medical assessment. Source indicated that they received a return call from the subject child’s mother stating that the medical provider reported that the injury appears to have been sustained by a fall or possibly by another child. Source reiterated that the child did not fall at the daycare. Source added that besides the subject child, there are two active children residing at the case address.

Per RP, while she was at the daycare she asked teacher Stacey Murray (Cali’s teacher) about the bruises on Cali’s legs and scrapes on her right arm that she observed on May 5, 2017. RP reported that she asked Ms. Murray about the bruises and scrapes, RP stated that Ms. Murray said “Cali tripped on the playground a few days ago” (prior to May 16, 2017). Reporting party (RP) stated that on 11/6/17 when her son Rambert Wang (DOB: 03/27/16) was picked up from the daycare approximately 5:50pm, the child's finger had been bleeding and was very swollen due to his hand being caught in the door. A parent and teacher were talking by the door and the parent closed the door on the child finger. RP stated that she was notified by phone at 4:50pm about the incident, but the injury was far worse than what was described to her. The child is expected to visit with his physician by the end of the week. The child is in the "Waters" room. During the investigation process of abused against children, it is important that a child abuse investigator should contact all medical personnel who had contact with the family of the victim. In this step of the investigation process, the investigator should interview the physician who provided treatment to the child. Interviewing the child’s physician is critical to the case because usually the attending physician can tell the police if the child caretaker’s statement does or does not fit with the child’s injury (Lyman, p. 233). Aside from interviewing the child’s physician, investigator should also interview other medical staff who assisted the physician when providing treatment to the alleged child abuse victim such as certain specialists,
Baby P was a 17 month-old boy who died in 2007 after suffering a series of injuries. He suffered from over 50 injuries within a period of 8 months. In December 2006 a GP noticed bruising on Peter’s hands and chest. Baby P’s mother, Tracey Connelly, was arrested and the care of Baby Peter was handed over to a family friend, however Baby P returned to his mother in January 2007. Within a period of a few months Baby P was admitted to hospital on two occasions with injuries including bruising, scratches and swelling on the side of his head.
At this location, we were able to make contact with the victim’s mother, Jodie Williams, to begin our investigation. Jodie Williams advised this morning at 0630 hrs; she dropped her son Philip Barrett, Jr at her sister's house to be taken care of while she goes to work. Around 0739 hrs, her sister Wendy Williams, sent Jodie a text message asking why does Jr have bruises and scratches on his face. Jodie Williams advised at this time she responded, her oldest daughter Sophia hit him with a toy while they were playing, but asked for more photos. When Wendy sent her pictures of Barrett Jr, she immediately left work and pick up her son and took him to the hospital. Jodie Williams advised a doctor stated the bruises might have been caused by a hand or a dog.
The complainant stated that on the Friday of April 28, 2017, she and her 13 year old sister (Kimani Gandy) visited their father’s residence, located at 1702 Gales Street, NE #4. The complainant stated that they were visiting five weeks old new born stepbrother (Demarcus Gandy). The complainant stated that during her visit, her sister Kimani was complaining of pain to her foot. Kimani injured her foot when her mother threw an object and it accidentally hit her foot. The complainant stated that her father (David Gandy) made a comment as if her mother intestinally threw an object at Kimani’s foot. The complainant stated that she told Mr. Gandy that it was not true, and they get in a verbal altercation about Mr. Gandy’s comments about their mother.
REPORTER: The reporter/ Medical Social Worker (Laura) called with concerns for the victim, Beulah. Beulah suffers from Major Depressive Disorder, Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis, and Disc Generation. She has a history of falling, and she needs assistance with her ADL’s. On Monday (03/14/2016), the victim told her nurse (Madeline) that her Penny (granddaughter/caretaker) pushed her down. It is unknown if she has visible marks or bruises. Today (03/17/2016), the victim said that Penny (granddaughter) didn’t push her down; the victim said she bumped into her granddaughter’s butt and fell down. The reporter was told to report the incident; the reporter’s supervisor believes that the victim is afraid of her granddaughter. The reporter said Penny (granddaughter)
The reporting party (RP) stated when she arrived to pick up her 3 year old daughter Hadley she was shock at her appearance. The RP was informed that Hadley had fallen off the slide in the morning (exact time unknown) and sustained scratches, abrasions, and a bump to her face and head. The RP questioned the teacher Ms. Usha regarding what care was administered to the child. The RP was informed the child received no care due to staffing issues. According to the RP she was informed the teacher could not leave the other children to attended to her daughter’s needs. The child sustained a bump to her left temple and received no ice or cold pack. The RP stated she contacted the facility to informed them the child need to remain at the facility a while
REPORTER: The reporter/father (Samuel) called to report abuse and neglect for the victim, Jamiron. According to the reporter, the victim has missed days out of school because the mother did not pick him up and take him to school. The reporter said the child missed school on Monday (10/26/2015) and Tuesday (10/27/2015); the child was at Samuels home without any school clothes; Samuel said he doesn’t have any transportation, and Helen didn’t come and pick the child up because she was in the country. The reporter said the child missed some days from school, 1 week ago, because Helen didn’t take him; she was out in the country. The reporter said Helen drops the child off to him, and they do not hear from her until Monday; the child constantly

The reporting party (RP) stated on 3/7/16 she arrived to find a 6 month old infant named Josephin (last name unknown) crying. The RP stated the infant continued to cry for approximately 10 minutes before the RP went on a 10 minutes break. According to the RP the infant was still crying upon her return. The RP stated she could no longer endure the infant's crying so she picked her up to comfort her. When the RP picked up the infant and determined by the smell the infant required a diaper change. Immediately the infant was removed from the RP care by a teacher named Kim who changed the infant's diaper. Another teacher named Margaret removed the child from Kim, who tightly swaddled and placed her in a crib. The RP asked Kim why the infants are
Visiting and investigating the location where the child was hurt is an important piece of a puzzle in a child abused investigation process because the scene where the child’s injury occurred usually leave an evidence that is crucial to the case. Therefore, it is very critical that the child abused investigator should pay a visit and investigate the scene where the child was injured, especially when the caretaker give the investigator conflicting statements regarding the injury of the child.
On October 26th, 2017, the social worker was called to Smith Elementary with concerns of possible medical neglect based on the information that was received from the source. The child of concern is an eight-year-old male who is currently enrolled in the third grade. The eight-year-old student has made numerous trips to the nurse’s office this week with the complaint that his foot hurt. Under close evaluation, the nurse determined that he had a large wood splinter at the bottom of his foot. The eight-year-old student’s mother`s been contacted on numerous occasions about her son’s condition and has yet to see a medical professional. There has been no medical attention thus far and the wound has become infected and is oozing with pus. The social worker decided to contact authorities in order to start the process of removing the child from his current home and getting him the appropriate medical attention as soon as possible. The social worker contacted her supervisor immediately to update any new information that has not been discussed about the eight-year-old boy and the concerns that were addressed. The social worker will research to see if the child has any type of medical insurance and will meet the authorities and the eight-year-old male at the hospital to continue the process of removal and the medical evaluation. In the meantime, the social worker and her supervisor are collaborating to contact the eight-year-old male’s mother to gain any further information on this
