People do not realize how lucky they are to be born healthy or have a normal family. Autism affects many children and adults throughout the world. 1% of people around acquire this disorder. It has many causes, and symptoms which make it difficult to deal with.
The exact cause of Autism has not been found, but researchers have pointed out several possible factors. The main cause of Autism pertains to a genetic mutation that the parents pass down. Genetic mutations come in many different forms such as: Fragile X Syndrome, Rett Syndrome, Prader-willi Syndrome, and Landau-Kleffner Syndrome. In addition to genetic mutations, medications cause Autism too. Depakote Valproate, an anti-seizure medication, plays a major role in this disease. If

Although some seem harmless, others appear to be harsher. The main symptom shows the child having social-interaction difficulties. Developing infants naturally are social, for example, they grab fingers, stare at faces, and turn toward voices by 2-3 months. Many infants with Autism in the 8-10 month period show symptoms of failing to respond to their names, and a non interest in baby talk or people. Another symptom portrays repetitive behavior. This behavior includes hand-flapping, rocking, arranging and rearranging objects, and repeating sounds, words, or phrases. In more severe cases, some kids spend hours lining up toys in a specific way instead of playing with them. If even one toy is messed up, the child likely has an emotional tantrum. Lastly, a symptom contains communication problems. When language begins to develop, the person with autism may use speech in unusual ways. Some have difficulty combining words into meaningful sentences. They may speak only single words or repeat the same phrase over and over (2). Autistic children and adults require an exceeding amount of care and attention. The uniqueness of each person with autism makes the experience of living different for each family. By having a loved one with this disorder puts a great deal of stress on the other family members. Siblings may feel embarrassed or overlooked and parents may feel strained or worried. The autistic member must live with a family member or someone who will care for them because they cannot care for themselves
Autism is a varied and complex disorder which can affect individuals in a number of ways. ASC affects not only the individual with the diagnosis, but their whole family - parents, siblings and others close to them. Below are examples of how ASC can affect different people:
Do you ever wonder why some autistic children act differently from others? Autism Spectrum Disorder affects three different areas of a child's life; it affects social interactions, communication skills, and their behaviors and interest. Every child is different and has their own way of expressing themselves (Autism Response). Some children may have better social skills than others. Autistic kids do not know how to express themselves so they do so through their different behaviors. Many autistic children are even nonverbal and will make different noises to communicate. It is very easy for a child with Autism to get upset because of their sensory, emotional, and cognitive difficulties. Sensory problems, emotional difficulties, and uneven cognitive abilities are all symptoms of Autism. Some more than others, but these are the most common symptoms of Autism (Autism Spectrum Disorder). For example, many of Autistic children can not express themselves like others who do not have the disorder. In many instances, it is very frustrating for both the child and whomever they are speaking to. If the child doesn't babble, coo, gesture (point, wave, grasp) by 12 months, doesn't speak not one single word by 16 months, and doesn't say any short 2 word phrases on their own by 24 months old they may have autism (Autism Spectrum Disorders Health Center). If a child is not showing any fine motor skills by 12 months, and not
So, the big question is how do people get autism? Some say autism is caused by a person’s genetic make-up. Still others blame the environment for the causes of autism. The big fight is to try to blame mandated immunizations for the rising number of children with autism spectrum disorder. According to Offit “immunizations have no connection with children who may have autism. According to a study published in England where only 12 children who had
Research suggests that children as young as 1 year old can show signs of autism. Some of these signs are, no speaking or limited speech, difficulty in expressing wants and needs, crying, laughing, becoming angry, or screaming for no apparent reason, no babbling by the age of one, having random tantrums, and little or no eye contact. During the time I have spent with David since he was born, I have noticed many of these signs, especially the tantrums and the screaming or crying. He screams and cries when there is something he wants, but because of the lack of speech we do not understand him. There are also some symptoms that accompany autism. Some children may have a sensitivity to light and loud sounds. Others may experience insomnia, or, like my nephew, may take a very long time to fall asleep at night.
“Autism is a disorder characterized by severe difficulties in social interaction and communication and with unusual behaviors.” (Dr. David Pauls 2003). This disorder is assumed to be caused by genetics, environmental toxins and/or prenatal care. (Harvard Medical School 2013). Social behaviors/interactions affected by Autism is the ability to process learning, communication and family/peer relationships. Autism is a disorder in which its cause makes it impossible to prevent and it takes a toll on its victim’s everyday life tasks.
What is autism? What are the symptoms of autism? There are so many questions about autism, especially there are many children that suffer from different types of autism which are autism disorder, Asperger's syndrome, pervasive development disorder. This essay is going to explain different steps on how to help your child cope with the world or at home. My brother has autism, he was diagnosed when he was two years old which was very interesting and shocking at the same time.growing up with an autistic brother wasn't easy, there were so many things to learn through these eight years, but me and my mom took these steps providing a soothing environment, taking him to therapy, ensure safety around the home, understanding stimming/communication verbal, understanding special interest.
One hundred peope each day are diagnoased with Autism. Each year, families would spend sixty thousand dollars for their kids with Autism. Now Autism is caused by its biological factors. The total of the NHI(National Institutes of Health) budget in 2012 was 30.860 billion dollars. 1.5 billion dollars of federal funding has been put towards Autism families. It impacts the normal development of the brain. The percentage of the amount of kids that have seizures with Autism is thirty to fifty percent. Autism is defined by its symptoms rather than its case. Autism is caused four times more in boys than girls. People believe that there is a genetic component or predisposition is present in the majority of people who develop Autism. Disorders such as Fragile X syndrome or Tuberous sclerosis syndrome involve an aberrant glutamate signaling might be involved in Autism. There is not medical care for Autism. DNA is being scanned to try to put a genetic puzzle together to figure out treatments. Only one out of three individuals have epilepsy. This can be found in people that does not have the disorder. Thirty-five percent of young adults have not had a job nor have received postgraduate education Ninety percent of adults are
Although it is a fairly common and a treatable disorder, Autism cannot be cured. The majority of people with Autism develop it in the earliest stages of life, including birth and even life in the womb. Like there are many fields of ASD, there are many causes of it. Autism is formed when there is a combination of factors that stop or interject with proper brain development. Most causes can be categorized into two groups: genetic and environmental. Some causes may include the parents age during conception,
Autistic infants often show little or no interest in other people and lack typical social behaviors. For example, they may not smile at their mother's voice or make eye contact with caregivers. Autistic children fail to develop normal relationships with their parents, brothers or sisters, and other children. Often they seem unaware of the needs and feelings of other people, and may not respond if another person is hurt or in distress. They also fail to make friends.
Autism is a mental disability that develops as the individual grows and develops, it changes the way they view the world and how they interact and understand people, it affects each individual differently due to it being a spectrum disability meaning that there are many forms ranging from atypical autism to high functioning autism this makes it very hard to fully understand it due to a lot of differences. There are around 1 in 100 people who are classed to be on the spectrum, that equals to around 700,000 people within the United Kingdom and it affects more men than women, some people with autism will be able to function within society with slight support from the family, school and work whereas some will need specialist support throughout their whole life this is because there is no cure for autism their parents/ carers have to try to get the care and support they need to overcome challenges that people without autism take
Autism has been a big part of life since I was born. My two brothers were diagnosed with some form of Autism, but even though they were diagnosed with the same condition, the way Autism affects them varies. For some kids with Autism, they are able to hide their condition better than other kids. Some kids might also need more help than others. This is why there are special classrooms just for kids with any disability where they are not able to function in a “normal” classroom, but even though people with Autism are different, we all are different.
Throughout their lives autistic children avoid eye contact and are unaware of other people’s feelings. They are unable to make friends and do not learn to play with other children. They often prefer social isolation.
According to Autism Speaks There are approximately 1 out of every 110 children with autism and that the number of diagnosed cases of this disorder increases steadily. Now I will talk about the causes of Autism There are a variety of causes behind this disease, the most important of which are: birth factors, brain factors or biological factors. Finding a child is difficult to distinguish parents from the rest of the people. Also suffering the child from a lack of skill earns friends. Their social behavior is not tactful the development of language in the children with autism is delayed, and it is difficult for them to use the
According to Shangraw (2012), there is no concrete etiology of autism because it is not diagnosed by its cause but on observed behaviors. The Autism-Society (n.d.) stated that a possibility for the cause of autism is the abnormalities in the brain structure or function. In an MRI research study by Piven et al. (1995), they found that an individual with autism spectrum disorder had a higher total brain volume and tissue compared to a person who is not on the autism spectrum disorder. Genetic problems and environmental factors can be a cause of autism spectrum disorder, according to the Mayo Clinic (2014). In genetic problems such as fragile X syndrome or Rett Syndrome, it can be associated with autism spectrum disorder. There is ongoing research regarding environmental factors and exploring ideas such as viral infections, pregnancy complications, and / or air pollutants to determine if they are active factors of autism spectrum disorder.
Another, is repeating parts of a conversation heard in the past (delayed echolalia). May repeat certain sounds over and over again (verbal perseveration) it also may be difficult for a child to convey his or her own needs. Examples are, if the child is hungry or ever in pain. This is one of the most lurid obstacles for a parent to come to realize. It is also very hard to socialize with an autistic child. Frequently autistic children will want to play alone, have no interest in making any friends, cannot make contact into your eyes, and will not show any sign of affection. This is very hard for family, friends, caregivers, and teachers to have to deal with. Most autistic children also have an IQ of under 70, that of an average person. About 20-40% of autistic children that have an IQ of fewer than 50 may start having seizures before adolescence. There are also many variances of autism, sometimes called childhood-onset pervasive development disorder or atypical autism. This may begin later then 12 years old. They start to behave in many bizarre mechanisms. The child may also be diagnosed with tourette’s syndromes, obsessive compulsive disorder, or hyperactivity. It is very difficult for a doctor to diagnose one symptom or disorder from another.
