Breast cancer often starts off is the lobules that supply them with milk or the inner lining of milk ducts. A malignant tumor can spread to other parts of the body, this usually starts from the breast and throughout the body. A lobular carcinoma is a breast cancer that its roots started off in the lobules. While one that is developed from the ducts is called the ductal carcinoma. Of all cancer deaths worldwide, this includes both males and females, eighteen point two percent are from breast cancer. The most common invasive cancer in females worldwide is breast cancer. The highest percentile of affected genders are females. It accounts for sixteen percent of all female cancers and twenty-two point nine percent of invasive cancers in women.

Women aged fifty and above, after menopause, is within the eighty percent and over of all female with breast cancer. For those with history of breast cancer are more likely to develop the disease again compared to women who have no history of the disease. Bodies that have been exposed to estrogen for longer, which leads to starting menstrual period earlier or entered menopause later, can also lead to breast cancer. Examples of diagnostic tests and procedures for breast cancer can be a breast exam, x-ray (mammogram), 2D combined with 3D mammograms, breast ultrasound, biopsy, and breast MRI (magnetic resonance imaging)
