The Second World War began in September of 1939 and was between the Allies and the Axis. It began with Germany’s unprovoked attack and conquest of Poland, and involved Britain and France from the beginning. Its origins lay in German resentment at the terms of the Treaty of Versailles (1919), the economic crisis of 1929-30, which favored the rise to power of Fascist dictators, the failure of the League of Nations to gain international acceptance for disarmament, and the policy of imperialism adopted by Germany, Italy and Japan as a means of acquiring raw materials and markets. The major factor of why World War 2 began was simply because the countries in the Axis wanted more land and become world leaders. The countries in the Axis were Germany, Italy and Japan. The war officially began in 1939, two days after Germany raided Poland. Before Poland was invaded, Hitler, who was the leader of Nazi Germany, broke many rules of the Treaty of Versailles such as reoccupying demilitarised areas and being alliance with Austria. While Germany and Italy was in charge of conquering Europe, Japan itself was in charge of Asia.

The main cause of world war 2 was the treaty of Versailles. This treaty was signed my German leaders; they agreed to minimize their army, give up battleships and submarines, pay twenty-three billion U.S. dollars in reparations and back their forces out of the Rhineland. The Rhineland was the land between Germany and France. The Germans had to back out of this land because the French did not feel safe with the Germans on the border because during ww2 the Germans invaded France and conquered almost half of France.

The rise of fascism and the goal to maintain peace fabricated in the Treaty of Versailles created horrible consequences for the entire world. The war commenced with the world set in a great depression as a result of World War I and the confrontation of differing ideals on cultural, economic, political, and military interests.

World War II, also known as the “war to end all wars” was if not the bloodiest, one of the most bloody and expensive wars of all time. WWII claimed millions of lives and rattled the entire globe.
