Szymanski. Session1. JournalThe event or experience that has influenced and will continue to influence my work and goals here at CCU is Celebrate Recovery. I have finished the first year in the program and have learned so much about myself, God, and relationships with others. The reason that this program is such an influence is because it has opened my eyes to my weaknesses andthefaults that I have. It has helped me to learn new skillssuch as how to truly listen to others without prejudice, how to not see rejection in criticism, and why I see things the way that I do. CR has also been a tool to deepen my relationship with the Lord. I have also learned how to turn my life and will into Christ’s control. It has really been an amazing tool for
I have appreciated much of the process in which I have journeyed over the last few years. Many of my classes have not only taught me things, but have given me insight into myself, my children, friends and family. I have learned to apply some of the lessons learned with how I would react to issues, interpret scenarios and motivate myself.
Bishop Jakes is proud of his program and the graduates. "It touched me in a deep way that we kept the program alive, sometimes literally be a thread and that it was worth it. That we were able to touch lives in a powerful way," he
Over the course of the last 5 months I have experienced many challenges that have presented to me in a wide variety of ways, some of which presented themselves based on my acts of poor judgment, and others I enacted on my own behalf. Throughout this period of time I have set many goals both academic and personal based on my challenges which have allowed me to stay focused and driven to be successful. Having an opportunity for personal reflection I have learned many things about myself and how I function, learn, and perform which as allowed me to grow mentally, personally, and spiritually. I now know and have gained a better understanding for how I think and feel, and how the decisions that I make on a daily basis shape my future. It is important for me to pay attention to how my actions have affected myself and those around me in that past and consider it as I move through life in the future.
Are you getting stressed just thinking about the Holiday season approaching? There are quite a few reasons why Thanksgiving may give us the jitters. CMB: Do you have a favorite story about how this program has influenced the community or an individual?
Celebrate Recovery is a self-help recovery program that contains a heavy emphasis on Christ and seeking healing through Him. There is a strong religious focus so individuals feel like they have help that is unconditional and they are surrounded by a body of individuals who are struggling with similar situations as well. Although these individuals cannot provide the answers or healing for one another, they are the support, a body, a family, and create a safe environment for fellow participants. Moreover, with this focus on Christs healing powers in their lives, the program emphasizes the eight recovery principles in the Beatitudes as well as the twelve-steps (similar to those used in Alcoholics Anonymous). I, therefore, attended a Celebrate Recovery meeting at the fellowship church in Rogers, AR on October seventh, two thousand sixteen.
This semester has been a revelation for me in my spiritual walk and building relationships with others. I have taken what I have learned in this class to bless others and encourage them that they can make it because God loves them. During the times of witnessing and servant hood, I have found so, many people that just want someone to listen and love them. My perception of people has changed because now I feel that I am more compassionate now, sensitive to the needs of others, humble, loving, and willing to be servant.
An event that occurred in my life that will help me succeed at Colorado Christian University is the day I joined the U.S. Army. This event means more than anything to me because it’s something that not very many people do that I did and got the courage to do. So far the Army has taught me many techniques and ways to be successful in everything you do. From personal courage, discipline, and integrity you learn that you can do anything you want by just pushing yourself and finding deep within what it is your dreams and lifelong goals are.

My recent journey into faith and want to learn more of our Lord would be the event or experience that is the main influence towards my academic work and goals with Colorado Christian University.
As of today, I’ve been on four mission trips with my friends and family, and I’m gearing up to leave for my fifth. On each I’ve gained perspective that has enriched my life by realizing all the amenities I enjoy are something people never even dream of experiencing. My time with White’s Chapel started with me as a naive and broken twelve year old, and I’ve now flourished ever since. With the friends I’ve made who openly invite me into all their fun events, I feel as though they’ve given me a completed family, one that I lost so
