As of March 28, 2016, Congress Middle School has adopted a new cell phone policy. This new policy, according to the Congress webpage post, will be much stricter and basically bans cell phones from the school during school hours. To summarize the changes to the policy, students are to put their cell phones in their lockers when they arrive to school and they are to stay there until dismissal at 2:30. If a student has their cell phone out during class, passing time, or lunch, then the phone will be taken to the office and will have to be picked up after school. It ensures that our cell phones are safe inside our lockers.” When asked if she knows what the policy entails, she responded, “You can’t have your phone out or teachers will take it to the office.” Trinity Christofferson, also on the Titans, said: “I don’t like the new policy, but I think it is necessary. People are always on their phones in class and the phones can disrupt the class and are a big distraction.” When asked if she knows what this new policy means, she said: “Kind of. From what I got when Dr. Stanley and Mrs. DeDonder talked about it on the announcements, if you get your phone taken then you get an office referral, and just having your phone out is a bad thing so just keep it in your locker.” When I interviewed Dr. Stanley, the assistant principal here at Congress, he said, “We always seek to improve upon what we do, so the effectiveness of this set of expectations in allowing for students to have access briefly throughout the day, while protecting the learning environment will be reviewed and adjustments will be made as needed.” I also asked him if there would ever be exceptions for students who need to use their phones, and he replied with, “I do not foresee any exceptions. If students need to speak with their parents, they may ask for a pass to use the phone in the office. Outside of that, they are able to quickly receive and send messages at their lockers each passing
The class had just started. I reminded the students of the cell phone policy. This policy was not developed by me. The strict policy was created and enforced by the school’s district.
If students don’t communicate during lunch because they have their phones out then the teacher on duty can ask the students to put them away. Also if students are not making good choices on the phones, or cyberbullying the whole cell phone at lunch privilege could be ruined. According to the survey the B.A.R.K Ambassadors gave 86.96% 8th graders out of 92 students that took the survey had cell phones. 78.69% 7th graders out of 61 students that took the survey also have cell phones, and 73.73% 6th graders out of 99 students. Income disparity happens with everything, like your clothes and other
Most schools do not allow the use of cell phones in school or in class, so the school feels like changing their policy of cell phone use might be a bad idea. Students could take advantage or miss use the privilege of phones in class. There will always be students who act out in class, but the school must discipline those who do and reward those who do not.

Are you always on your phone? Either Snapchatting, on Instagram, scrolling through your twitter feed? It can be pretty temping to pick up your phone and do this stuff in class but you can use them in good ways in school. George Washington Middle School currently has cell phones banned in class. Although most teachers think that cell phones are a distraction, cell phones should be allowed in class because students feel anxious without their phones, there are many educational uses, and allowing phones is more convenient.
People all around the world have many electronic devices, and there are abundant amounts of freedom that come with them. There are so many different technologies to choose from, but one that seems to be quite common among people of all ages, are cell phones. Such technology is great for many uses, but it is not always appropriate in certain settings. The principal at my school has adopted a new policy that bans the use of cell phones during school hours. I support my principal’s decision. Cell phones can be distractions in many ways to students during school. They can cause conflicts between fellow students and between students and teachers. Allowing cell phones during school hours also basically gives students permission to not pay
Being caught with a cellular device (on or off) will be confiscated and kept in a file cabinet in the principal’s office, waiting for your parents with $25 to pick it up. All cell phones will taken including phones discovered during searches of reasonable suspicion. The agenda states that under no circumstances should cell phones ever be used inside the school building. Cell phones should be enabled in our school for many reasons. It can teach our student responsibilities, to use for emergencies, for help and as learning aids and to keep us students
Have you ever heard of the gruesome Columbine High School massacre? This incident occurred on April 20th 1999 and involved two students embarking on a shooting rampage, killing twelve students, a teacher and wounding twenty three others. Unfortunately during this incident, the school 's most easily accessible phone was on the complete other side of the school in the library. Perhaps some of these lives could have been saved if the students in this class had cell phones that they could 've used to contact the authorities more quickly. The issue we are addressing today is the usage of cellular devices in educational facilities. Both Cameron and myself believe that cell phone usage is of extreme convenience, and has academically beneficial
Staff and students are aware of the codeword which is used should we have an intruder.
Congress established of the Cellular Educational Service (CES) to oversee the creation and enforcement of the necessary rules and regulations that meet the objectives of the Cell Phone Education Regulation Act to challenge the possession and use of cellular phones by students in primary school. Through its delegated power CES set a list of requirements and regulations that asked all students to undergo searches of their outfits, bags, lockers, and desks each morning. The rules also permitted random searches to take place. Nevertheless, CES acted outside od scope of their authority, they included a hidden provision that permitted their unknown to target mostly female students than male students while investigating. They were supposed to
We often associate the use cell phones while attending school as a huge distraction and something that should be forbidden by all schools.
In today’s time, most people are looking down, not at the floor but at their phones. Many people argue about why we should have jammers or cell phone service blockers in school due to the increasing rate of teens using phones in school. Many people argue that these jammers would help out many teachers and schools but in many cases blocking off cell phone use in schools can have its consequences.
Many teachers believe that cell phones don’t belong in a classroom because there are several disadvantages. An example maybe a student who uses a cell phone in class has no intension in listening or paying attention to the teacher. This student has a short attention span who cares about socializing more than his/her education. Cell phones can be very disruptive; they can invade people’s privacy and can also be used as harassment or bullying. The usage of cell phones is creating a huge problem particularly when they are used in school.
lot of since for students not to be able to use their cell phones during school hours.
Phones being allowed in the classroom are tempting for students. Students feel a vibration in their pockets and feel the need to check their phones. Apps for example snapchat will flash the camera light when the student receives a snap from someone.
