During my time working on the CH-47 structures stress team work usually came in waves. There were only two of us working on the team, but since work had ebbed for the time being my lead felt comfortable taking a medical leave. This effectively made me take the “lead” of our group while he was away. I completed the usual lead rolls, gave updates to our manager and second level manager. Working to keep tasks on track was both fun and challenging for me, and I liked the responsibility. Due to the fast paced nature of our program stress often only had time to provide initial sizing and the part would be released before we had the opportunity to complete a full stress analysis (this wasn’t the best way to design/size parts, but the method worked well most of the time). Since our slow time often involved catching up on analysis, I was working on the formal documentation for a complex installation when I realized the designer had made a mistake on the thickness of a critical part. To make matters worse the …show more content…
I organized a meeting across the functional groups required to redesign and sign off the part. Together we set an aggressive schedule and found the necessary approvals to work overtime. In order to push the installation out in as little time as possible I set a goal for the group to not make any part changes requiring more than a numerical change to the stress analysis. This was a tough task for me because as a young engineering I didn’t have the knowledge to guide the designers at times. When needed, I brought in a stress tech fellow from another group. I worked with each designer individually to make sure the new design followed the sizing my analysis had set forth. Also, I organized a daily meeting to gather all the designers together so we could make sure all the parts fit into the
DARE is a program that educates you on the dangers of alcohol, drugs and other things. Some things we discussed in DARE were being stressed, finding help networks, and having good communication.
Assume you are an M-Global field engineer working at the construction site of a nuclear power plant in Jentsen, Missouri. For the past three weeks, your job has been to observe the construction of a water-cooling tower, a large cylindrical structure. As consultants to the plant’s construction firm, you and your M-Global crew were hired to make sure that work proceeds properly and on schedule. As the field engineer, you are supposed to report any problems in writing to your project manager, John Raines, back at your St. Louis office. Then he will contact the construction firm’s office, if necessary.
As a former Army Soldier, I know that life is full of stress and stressors that can have an impact on my life. In fact, I believe as a Soldier, you can have an additional form of stress known as combat stress that can produce long term effects to your health and well-being. I retired from the Army in 2009 after deploying six times to various combat zones and dealt with other stressors that you have in the Army. I believe that I have some effects from the stress that I endured while in a combat zone. Finding ways to deal with stress without going and asking for help through meditation and relaxation exercises would be beneficial to me, so that I don’t have to turn to someone for help. Besides combat stress or related stress, I also have the stress that everyone in life endures. My top stressors are that of work in my current job, family life to include extended family, finances, continuing my education, and lastly combat stress from when I was on active duty. According to the Mayo Clinic in an article from mayoclinic.org titled Healthy Life Styles Stress Management, “Stress might be affecting your health without you even realizing it.” In this paper I will answer the questions like, what causes this stress. Is it time management? I believe what causes a lot of this stress is not having enough time in the day to do it all the things you want or need to do without causing a negative feelings or anger. In this, I
I have a lot of stressor; there are so many things in my life that cause me to stress out a lot. I stress out over things like not having enough time to finish my home work, or project, I feel exhausted and the end of the day and sometime I would end up not finishing the assignment, because I could not focus and pay attention to what I was doing.
The first people were the representatives from Holliday Nature Preserve that helped me design the new part of the footbridge. They went down to the worksite to get the blueprints out and more people came to help. After about 20 minutes of people showing up and taking their tools down to the worksite, it was finally time to begin construction. The repair will be extending the bridge 16 feet to the top of the river bank with three 16 foot beams. Luckily there were many adults that could help lift the heavy beams into place because the young scouts wouldn’t be able to lift them on their own. While the adults did all the heavy lifting, I had the younger scouts work on digging water bars into the hill to stop further erosion of the river bank. The task of digging a hole for a 2x4 didn’t seem like a problem for the scouts, so I went to check on the footbridge. Coming down from the hill where the water bars were being placed, I could hear all the power tools like drills and saws being used to construct the walkway connecting the bridge to land. After watching everyone work together and have a good time, I decided to help saw the floor planks for the walkway. For about 15 minutes of sawing and talking to the adults that were taking a quick break themselves, I felt that the footbridge was coming along exactly as planned and I went to check the scouts. I didn’t expect the water bars to take along time to dig and I was right
To help reduce stress for myself, even through I know its quite common practice for most managers I would write down a list of all my tasks and then put them in priority order according to timescales, importance and whether I could or could not delegate the task I would also consider how long they might take, having a list especially when I am feeling stressed helps me focus and ticking areas off can have a positive effect on me as the list reduces.
Compared to working in group projects or assignments, this was true collaboration with two other individuals in my class. I felt very comfortable when working with my peers because they relieved the stress and anxiety I had going into the client visit. Working directly with my peers also gave me a different perspective to look at when my peers were asking different questions or responding differently than me. Also working with the clients directly was a very different experience for me. I never had grandparents growing up so I never really had a lot of interactions and conversations with geriatrics. So sitting down with them was really difficult because I did not really know how to initiate the conversation or how to keep it going.
Identify four major ongoing stressors in your life. For each stressor, describe why it is a stressor for you. You need to discuss a variety of areas such as personality, lifestyle, self-talk, and/or beliefs.
I was the project leader of a standardization effort to replace all the sharps containers in a 25 bed military hospital in Pensacola, FL. I had ninety days to complete the project. The project team consisted of five personnel from the Logistics Division in the hospital. The sharps container manufacturer contracted with a private company to remove the old sharps containers from the walls and install new containers in the same spot, if possible. We replaced 1500 sharps containers in 120 different rooms across 70 departments in the main hospital and 10 branch health clinics spread across 5 different states. The project team included multiple personalities spread across multiple facilities. There were occasional clashes from the onset of the project,
The team I worked for was very stressful and difficult. Although under these conditions to be able to work with someone else, I did make the task go by much quicker. The thing about a team is that everyone has their own specific job to do and not everything is left for me to do. The team I worked for has been for a long time. I have worked as a team player since the first day I started working. The team I work for well the role I play, as a member is manager. I have to keep up with my employees as well as inventory and everything else you think of under my management position. I have been manager for four years now, before I took on the role I was a regular employee or team member like everyone else. Everyone is a part of the team; it is just things weigh a little more down on me

Over the years, people have gotten themselves into more stressful situations or conditions, which are called stressors, throughout their lives, whether it is their career, family, friends, an event, or other things that tends to stress people out (Meichenbaum, 2007, p. 1). Donald Meichenbaum decided that he wanted to help others solve that problem. Meichenbaum and a few of his colleagues came together to create cognitive behavioral therapy due to this increase (Meichenbaum, 2007, p. 2). After a while, Donald Meichenbaum and a few of his colleagues created Stress Inoculation Training in the mid-1970s. Stress Inoculation Training (SIT) is a treatment program that makes efforts in helping people take control over finding a positive way in dealing with stressful events and also being ready in advance to handle stressful situations (Meichenbaum, 2007, p. 8). This stress intervention is broken up into three phases: the conceptualization or educational phase, the skill acquisition and rehearsal phase, and the application and follow through phase (Admi, 1997, p. 39).
There are many challenges that we face and have to handle every single day. And, as women, we frequently have to balance the demands of work, family, children, parents, finances, and health—to name just a few. These demands are frequently referred to as “stressors” and achieving a balance is “stressful.” But multiple demands on our time and energy are a part of everyone’s life. Stress is not how many demands you have in your life, but rather how you and your body respond to these demands. For some, racing to meet a tight deadline or complete a long “ToDo” list can be positive and energizing. It’s important to learn what stress is, at what point it becomes harmful, and options for how you can respond to it. Finding the right balance is
