Chew-Gum In School

When it comes to schools the district does whatever it cam to keep the students safe. By setting rules the students are to follow. Rules such as, dress code, attendance, classroom procedures, and more. All indended for one reason and that is to protect the students.

Gum sure is tasty,gum can help many kids in many ways in school. People are debating on which gum should or should not be allowed to chew gum in school. Gum should be allowed in school.

GUM CHEWING IS AGAINST THE RULES AT GREENBRIER MIDDLE SCHOOL. The reason I am copying this paragraph is because I was chewing gum in class. Gum chewing is not allowed in school for the following reasons:

Chewing gum in school is a heated issue because many people think it is rude and messy. Others argue it can help students focus, improve memory when taking tests, and relax while doing schoolwork or a test. But the negative argument is misguided because the mess wouldn’t happen if students were allowed to have gum, and therefore throw it away without feeling guilty. Still, the actual question that should be debated is what the benefits of chewing gum in school are.

Purpose : The purpose for this project explores whether chewing gum can benefit a majority of people with focus and concentration.

An increasing number of students today are showing more signs of anxiety, stress, and ADHD. A solution to the issue is allowing children to chew gum while in the classroom. Evidence shows that the process of chewing gum increases the blood flow to the brain and heart as well as increases saliva in the mouth, which gives the individual certain advantages. Students should be allowed to chew gum while in the classroom because they demonstrate increased memory and alertness, higher test scores and concentration, as well as decreased stress and anxiety (Pooley, Smith).

This includes prohibitions against assault and theft or respect for leaders (Source G). Given that students are at an age where they are extremely moldable, it is imperative that they learn these rules in school.

Kids should be able to chew gum during school reason being is that it has been scientifically proven that chewing gum can form students to stay more focused in making them better student. On the other hand, the principal's and teachers think gum should not be allowed because they think gum is an interruption considering that the students' would most likely be blowing bubbles and making commotion with their bubble gum. However, if that did happen all the teachers would have to say is everyone needs to provoke blowing bubbles and then students should stop. When the teacher gives out, work it has been scientifically proven to help them stay more focused, so that means chewing gum could cause the students want to be less focus on their surroundings and stay more focused on getting their work done. Then, if they start getting their work done, that means that they are becoming superior students.

These policies are in place to hopefully deter students from doing drugs or being violent, but the ethics behind them are questionable. Some research has shown that these policies may not even work, and other forms of discipline would be better suited to help students. This may cause the student’s family to have to move and schools might not want them in their district anyway. If someone gets any of these punishments, it will be on their permanent record forever, which might cause problems if they want to get into college or get a job. Breaking the rules can also take away privileges, such as technology.

We should be allowed to chew gum in class. There are at least three reasons as to why we should be allowed to chew gum in class. The first reason is that it can help some students focus. The second reason is it helps refresh the brain. The third and final reason is because not all students will stick it under their desks and wherever they please.

Schools should not allow students to have gum in school. These three reasons are why gum is not allowed in school. It goes under tables, it makes too much noise, and it makes people distracted.

Once clearly defined, enforcing the zero tolerance policies can be relatively easy for the offenses related to illegal drugs and alcohol. These are serious threats to school safety and using common sense when applying the policies against such offenses should help.
