know the feeling one can have when one hears a beautiful song that brings joy to ones heart, stand in a field of flowers that excites ones eyes, or admire a face that is visually pleasing. The controversial issue that surrounds beauty is that some believe that true beauty is defined by someone’s outer appearance, while others believe it is something that is experiences through a person’s character. Beauty is defined as the quality or aggregate of qualities in a person or thing that gives pleasure to the sense or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit. The secret of beauty has been a quest of humans for centuries. It has been determined that women and some men spend up to one third of their income on products and procedures that enhance their looks. People spend way too much time looking in the mirror, scrutinizing, worrying, fretting, and wishing people could change something about themselves. People dream of looking like the girl at work because she has great hair, or the girl people meet at a party because she is skinny, with the perfect nose. This happens because people are constantly on social media. A pretty face is not a complete definition of beauty, nor is the quality of one being kind and compassionate. To contain beauty, someone or something does not have to be physically beautiful. Beauty is everywhere. Take a simple flower.
In American culture, the obese body is represented very negatively. One factor that contributes to this negative representation is the abundance of negative reactions that people display towards overweight people. It is a stigma that often taints and belittles the person, leading others to judge the individual negatively, rejecting, hating, or ridiculing him or her. That can often lead the obese person to develop sever psychological problems.
The documentary Killing Us Softly exposed how the media views what qualifies as ‘female perfection’. I would like to know how the media declared what “perfection”, there are different types of women, with different shapes, sizes, face structures, and you name it. Which brings me to the question, who decided that what the media presents as "perfection” really is, perfection. These "perfect” models that the media parade around are always airbrushed and photo-shopped, none of it is real. Many models have actually have come forward in saying that this is true. Just recently, model Cameron Russell spoke in a TED Talk about the image inequality that exists in media. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KM4Xe6Dlp0Y)
Beauty ideals may differ among different ethnicities, and evolve over time. Some are influenced by others, while some develop their own. Hair is one of the most aesthetically important parts of the human anatomy. It is visible to all, and can be manipulated to however the person desires. Each person’s hair is unique, particularly to their ethnicity. The hair of African Americans is particularly unique as it is not only vastly different from the hair of other races, but also distinct among fellow African Americans. It can be coiled, curly, straight, wavy, and nearly everything in between. Consequently, their hair became the center of much attention, especially do the fact that its appearance differs so greatly from the long standing European

I use the word “beautiful” carefully because beautiful is not what is on the outside, but the inside is where it counts. Yes, some girls are naturally pretty and smart, but what some people don’t realize is that some of those girls are not eating and not exercising to get the body that they would like. This paper will focus on the young girls that are coming unhealthy to supposedly get the body they would like to have.
Like today in the 21st century, being perfect is the most talked about concern in majority of our women today. Being beautiful classifies being prefect. Being perfect classifies

“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”. However there is a well known, well discussed, universal definition of perfection for all women. One that is consistent throughout different areas of the world and different allotments of the human culture. This standard of the ideal woman is based off of not only physical but intellectual standards predominantly in advertising.
A gordita in spanish, translates to: Chubby girl. By looking at this title, I can infer that this story will be about Gabi, a overweight girl, whose ethnicity is Mexican or is living in Mexico, who feels broken. The cover illustrates a girl's body in pieces. The left arm and rib cage area are illustrated in bones.
From the time of birth, images of physical perfection bombard young minds. When children are young their minds are fragile and mold to what they are taught. One of the first toys a young girl is given is a Barbie doll Girls are shown Barbie and parents tell the children that Barbie dolls are beautiful. So young girls are taught that Barbie is what a perfect female is.
Being perfect is the main theme that most of the women strive for it. Everyone today watches and buys the movies, magazines, news, advertisements and we see celebrities with the “perfect” bodies. It is not our fault. Media sometimes it manipulates women through the technology by using Photoshop and makes women look with perfect body and mark these false creations as flawless and inspirational. For instance, making a female to look ideal is tricking the society into thinking that we must have to be like that. We live and exist and it doesn’t mean that we suck just because we are not perfect as others who pretend to be with perfect bodies. Our society wants us to look perfect and actually we are wasting our time of trying to reach that because it is something that we can’t do it and it is impossible. No one can be or are perfect.
A commonly mistaken perception of beauty is its need to be aesthetically perfect, but this is not one of its true qualities. As stated
Or should the question be: which meaning does it have in our society? Is it even possible to reach perfection, or is it something out of the hands of a human being? It is true that perfection is something everybody strives for, to help them succeed in the things they propose for their lives. Many people aspire to be perfect in different ways, it could be a mother, a student, a teacher or even an artist with that desire of reaching perfection, but do we know the real meaning of this word? According to the dictionary one of its meanings is “a quality, trait, or feature of the highest degree of excellence.” (Dictionary, 2013) Excellence and perfection are far from being the same; which is why many people say it is impossible to be perfect but possible to reach Excellency, because perfection is supposed to exist as an abstraction of our minds, but not to be attainable in the physical world. (Wais, 2010)
