Once upon a time in a land of myth and a time of magic, there was a man named Xander of Demopoulos. Xander was married to Calista of Antonopoulos, she was known for her skill in weaving. Together, they had a son and a daughter. Alexander was eight years old, and Cora was six years old. Calista remained at home and looked after the children. She had a slave to help with the housework. Alexander received formal education unlike his sister Cora who stayed at home. Their home was modest and did not have much furniture.
Xander was one of the best sailors in Ithaca, an island in the Ionian Sea in Greece, and was known for his intelligence, courage and unique methods. Xander and his friend Nikomedes of Economides, also a great sailor had served under the command of the witty Odysseus many time. Xander spent the majority of the day out of doors enjoying the mild climate. Every day, Xander would wake up, start his day with bread dipped in wine and go to work. However, this day was not going to be like every other day, for Xander had no idea of what to come.
