The article elevates the needs for quality adaptive learning environments in an early childhood setting. The authors argue that rigidity in terms of teacher’s ways of perceiving space in the classroom and their control over the use of the space call for a need to re-examine and modify classroom rules. Rules that clash with the learning needs hampers teachers’ ability to foster an adaptive learning environment in school. Learners should be given the autonomy to alter their environment according to their learning styles and preferences. By providing learners with the alternatives to the rigid classroom setting, learners start to associate positive feelings to the classroom, feel empowered to have control over their learning and it makes them
I believe that each child is unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. It is my desire as an educator to help students meet their fullest potential in these areas by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invite a sharing of ideas. There are three elements that I believe are conducive to establishing such an environment namely, the teacher acting guide, allowing the child’s natural curiosity to direct his/her learning, promoting respect for all the things and all the people.

The authors of the article explained how important it is to meet the needs of the students with limited English ability in the education system. One of the main point expresses about how frustrating it could be for these students, especially if they were never expose to this sort of environment or language before. Another point that was made in the article, explains how the educational system was not prepared for changes in this sort of population. In most cases, some of the curriculum that is being offered in school cannot be changed to accommodate English Limited Learners, also known as ELLs. Budget is also another issue, as schools are limited to hiring more ELL teachers.
I think that it’s great that this man did something that he struggled with and persevered to learn how to read. So many people would have just called it good and never learned how to read, and it’s very encouraging that he did learn how to read. This article also makes me question our education system a little bit. I do not think that it’s a good sign that this man made it all the way through school not knowing how to read. Did teachers just not notice or did they just not care? Either way no student should attend school ant not learn how to read at some point. Over all, I think that it’s great that this man learned how to read. It is never to late to learn something new, no matter wat that might be.
The areas of the classroom are set up so that children can move freely throughout making choices of their own interest. Each area is set up so that a limited number of friends can play within at one time. The Purple room fosters all areas of development, physical (fine and gross), cognition, literacy, math and social-emotional. The environment is set up so that children are encouraged to develop at their own pace yet staff is available for co-learning with the children. Lesson plans are developed on the interest of the child and are created with teaching team so that all individuals have a role in implementing staff and children. Individualism is high priority within the Purple room, each child is assessed and given the proper tools or accommodations so that they are in an environment that will provide success and school
Through this experience, I learned that is vitally important that children in school have a creative, stimulating classroom environment. Such an environment will stimulate their minds and make them much better learners and thinkers. The classroom environment should include lots of books, visual materials and different activities in order to help them learn the material as best as possible. All these requirement should be aimed at attracting and keeping the child’s interest and promoting questioning and discussion. Expecting children, particularly young ones, to sit at a desk all day and learn is not the way to go. Children, particularly young ones, need to move around and do different activities in order to keep them engaged. Having an environment where they are being taught in ways that are fun and reel them in, will stimulate the students to do well and strive to do better.
Week two of my classroom handbook will be of the topic problem solving skills used during conflict in the classroom. Kaiser and Rasminsky suggest a five step process that will effectively teach children at the early childhood level problem solving skills to last a life time. I will go over each step and then provide an example of what this process might look like in a classroom.
A well-structured surrounding helps young kids figure out how to make friends and make friends with others. It is not necessary that all the time teacher will manage children’s activities. In actuality, the structure of the best preschool classroom is to a great extent invisible to kids. Classroom space is sorted out to empower social connection, and minimize conflicts and congestion.
Teaching environment and style plays a crucial role in the child’s learning experience. According to Morris, “ direct experiences, observations and internalizations of concepts inherent in the environment are powerful determinants of child attitudes and
Classrooms environments are very important at the time of learning. According to our textbook, the environment is viewed as an established behavioral place that forms how we act and behave (Vukelich & Christie, 2016). The environment in the classroom I visited was adequate for learning because it has all the things a preschool classroom has to have according to the textbook. The classroom has a bulleting board, a dramatic play center, a writing center, tables for manipulative and games, whole group meeting area, a computer area and an art area. There was also on a wall a picture of every single child with his and her names. My visit was from 10:30 to 12:30. When I first arrived, children were in a transition from one activity to another. The next activity was to watch an ABC phonics video. All the children knew what they have to do. They had to sit nicely and quiet on the floor. Every single child knew how to sit. They crossed their legs and put their hands in their laps. When the teacher saw that all the children were sitting properly, she assumed that they were ready to learn. During this activity I observed that Matthew and Jose were not engaged with this activity because they were looking to other children instead to look to the screen. For the next activity the children had to take a tablet from a cabinet. I was surprise because every single child knew the number of the tablet they have to take. Later I noticed that it was because in the classroom every child has a
I believe that everyone could benefit from reading the two articles if they don’t already know what is going on or what has been going on in the US regarding law enforcement and the prison system. “The Right Choices” article digs fairly deep into the fact that there’s a disproportionate amount of black people in prison compared to other races. I feel as though some people are so quick to come to a conclusion that ‘black people must commit more crime’ when in actuality the systems basically target black people and people of color as a whole.
The author in the articles relates the advancement of technologies with the alienation of human being with the real world. The author acknowledge the reason of our alienation from real world as not being because of the dimensional scales but because we have been substituting dimensions for the things that count. The author believes that technology does not alienate us from the world it mediates. The author uses an example of a telescope, a scientific instrument used to observe galaxies, stars, moon, and the universe as deviating humans from experiencing nature by taking risks. Human beings these days tend to be focus more on taking pictures and capturing it as a memory than living in the moment. In this process, they tend to experience, feel nature less than other people would do. The author mentions how children these days do not
When I started the class, I believed my level of writing was at a strong point, however, as the class progressed I found out how wrong I was. I learned that I needed to work on two certain things to succeed in the class. The objectives that I have always seemed to struggle in is correcting my sentences from becoming fragmented and knowing how to successfully structure them and learning to use citation throughout my papers. Knowing to successfully apply these, I believe has made me a better writer than what I started as.
Early childhood classrooms provide children experiences that consider as an significant predictor of future academic success (Sandilos et. al, 2004). While UNICEF (2000) defines quality in education, UNICEF also mentions about importance of the physical environment in a quality education. The tables, seats and work spaces in the classroom are the component of the physical environment of classroom (Uludag, 2008). The ways of teachers utilize the component of the physical environment influences their practice, students’ attitude towards kindergarten classroom, peer relationships and the finally the quality of the education (Celik & Kok, 2007; Karip, 2007). It is inevitable that while teachers
As an Practitioner (EYP), I am aware of how the environment in which a child learns and develops plays a crucial role in reinforcing and expanding a child’s learning and development (EYFS, 2012; ECM, 2003). However, it is important to highlight that although the quality of the physical space is essential, there are other equally important aspects that ought to be considered if a holistic enabling environment is to be provided. For instance, on this occasion, for the environment to be enabling,
