I am writing to express my interest in the Clinical Dietitian position with Salem Health. I graduated from Oregon State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition and Dietetic and currently gaining experience through the Dietetic internship at OSU. My internship will be completed by the end of June 2018. Although I’m not yet a Registered Dietitian, I am confident that I’ll be competent and significantly benefit your organization.
I have previous work experience in the Nutrition field, but my dietetic internship experience is what has prepared me to thrive in this position. Throughout the internship, I have learned about compassion, how to communicate with patients, and how to interact with the medical team. From all of my rotations,

In life, many people participate in various daily events and activities that help them enjoy being who they are. People may enjoy getting together with friends, going to the mall, going to an amusement park or simply finding relaxation in nature. However, a big part of everyone’s life is of course eating and many people find pleasure in doing so. Eating is a very enjoyable and delectable must for everyone but should be done so, like everything in life, in a smart and intelligent way. Being smart and perceptive when eating is a large part of nutrition.
To determine the level of my fiber intake from a 3 day sample of my diet, I performed a Prospective Diet Analysis. On average, I consumed 22.3 grams of fiber, just missing the recommendation of 25 grams. Coherent to the findings of the related studies, my cholesterol intake decreased and by the third day totaled 124.5 mg, which relates to 42% of the Daily Recommended Intake of 300 mg.

1) The background information on a possible referral by a physician to a Registered Dietitian might give us an insight on the stage of behavioral modification stage of the patient. If the patient was referred to a Registered Dietitian (RD) by a physician, and did not seek the RD on their own free will, this might indicate that the patient was either given no choice to visit the RD or is willing to follow the physician's recommendations. A study conducted on clinician referrals services shows that the referral services had a modest impact on the progress of the patient.1,2
Montclair State University and I posses a common vision. I, like MSU believe in the power of thinking critically and acting ethically in every possible aspect of my life. I have chosen to study Nutrition at Montclair because I want to help people make educated lifestyle choices and develop healthy habits, which has always been a dream of mine. Because I intend to pursue a career in dietetics, I see Montclair State University as an ideal place for me. Offering impressive coursework and programs that will quench my thirst for knowledge, this university will prepare me for a dietetic internship and provide me the confidence of knowing that I would be getting an excellent education in nutrition at a top school with consistently high ratings.
I am currently on track to complete my degree in Nutritional Science. Once completed, I hope to settle in to an important role as a nutritionist. Exactly what environment I am hoping to work in, I am not yet certain. As a nutritionist, it would be my responsibility to plan and conduct nutritional programs that assist in promoting good health and control of diseases. Responsibilities may include supervising food service departments, counseling individuals, or conducting nutritional research.
Also, I wanted to update you on my school. I was accepted into a dietetic internship for next year, unfortunately it’s through Green Bay and not Milwaukee. I will have about 9 weeks where I can commute from Milwaukee (those rotation sites are in Oconomowoc, Port Washington, and Cedarburg), but I don’t know when they will occur. If I have the availability to attend class during St. Patrick’s practices, I would like to and perform if that’s possible. My program director has been very accommodating so far, trying to place me in more southern rotation sites and I already asked her about the St. Pats season. I just won’t know my schedule until closer to the fall. Let me know if me attending classes, even for a bit, might work or if you have any

I think I would better facilitate in a nutrition setting because of the my analytical skills and my slight knowledge with healthy eating and diets based on my experience in high school. When I was a freshman in high school, I was on a strict weight loss diet and lost sixty-five pounds, which I gained back from my high school senior year to freshman year of college due to stress and anxiety from college applications to the workload in college. Dropping from 187 to 125 lbs, I used to do research about calories and how much I should take to lose or maintain weight and even use a calorie calculator. Before I eat a meal, I would always check the calories from nutritional facts to check to determine whether I should eat it or not. It also made me
