So cloud data is accessible from anywhere on the internet, meaning that if a data breach occurs via hacking, a disgruntled employee, or careless username/password security, your business data can be compromised. I know we just covered the advantages of cloud computing but there are some disadvantages also. Furthermore, the essential objective of a SWOT analysis is to analyze and designate every important aspect that could positively or negatively affect the success to one of the four classifications that provides an extensive examination of the company. If properly utilized, the tool can be used to develop business strategies, identify improvement opportunities, and position the company so that is can have a competitive advantage. Strengths are positive internal attributes that are within the company’s control. It is used to help identify what the company’s current status is and how successful can be if it maintain the status. Weakness is another category that is analyzed internally and externally, by analyzing internally, management goal is to identify areas that can be improved. Through this tool, it will identify what is preventing the company from achieving competitive advantage, could it be limited resources, poor physical location, limited expertise or old or limited skills and technology systems? A lot has being said concerning issues surrounding the law and cloud computing. Some of these issues include privacy and data security concerns and laws and regulations. Regardless of what cloud computing models an organization uses, both the cloud provider and the consumer ha to operate under this laws. Therefore both parties need to have a broad knowledge of the these laws such as data breaches, information ownership and control and how close customers can manage risk both at the federal and state levels.

Data breaches and data loss is a severe issue when it comes to cloud computing. Since some or all of the infrastructure is located off site at the cloud services infrastructure, we do not control the overall security of the system. If an attacker gains access to the cloud computing system, even if it is through a different customers account there is a chance that they could gain access to our data that is stored on the cloud services system. These data breaches can expose our customers private data such as names, addresses, and account information. If the cloud company does not properly store credit card numbers it may expose them as well (Babcock, 2014).

Cloud computing is the practice of storing, managing, and processing data on a network of remote servers hosted on the internet, instead of locally on servers or hard drives. Cloud computing has unlimited storage, capacity and scalability, as well as back up and recovery systems. It allows you to access your data anywhere with an internet connection. However, security and privacy is a concern when managing confidential data.

A SWOT analysis looks at the strengths and weaknesses of a company and the opportunities and threats. When used in business it can help a company carve a sustainable niche in the market. A SWOT analysis can be a powerful tool that can assist a company in uncovering opportunities that they can exploit. If a company can comprehend their weaknesses they can then manage and eliminate threats that would otherwise have caught them off guard. By a company looking at themselves and their competitors and using this tool, a company can come up with a strategy that will set them apart from their competitors.
