Cognitive Theory Of Anger

The study is anchored on a social cognitive theory which states that people learn from individual experiences, the actions of others, and their interaction with their environment. The cognitive theory of emotion calls to mind that learning occurs when an individual takes the observed behavior and incorporates it into their own knowledge (Bandura, A.1990). The theory was illustrated in triangular pattern which emphasizes the dynamic interaction between people (personal factors), their behavior, and their environments which can be elaborated further relating to factors known as personal issue, social pressure and family factors.
Anger is said to be an emotion that all people feel which a normal thing as a human is. In this way, there are factors that can affect the mood and make a person angry and aggressive. There is always a trigger from the environment that can provoke people to be angry and aggressive but people do have a choice to accept or reject the invitation. Personal problem is a guaranteed factor that affects the emotion and mentality of a person. Personal problems approach on many ways that can possibly cause anger. According to Dr. Ronald Potter-Efron, there are following factors that can give rise to an angry brain and these are frustration, excessive stress overtime, physical and emotional trauma, alcohol and drug abuse, excessive hormone release, problems with neurotransmitters, and brain malfunctions that promote anger and aggression.
