High school…what is there to say about it? Many would tell you that it’s like a jungle of sorts, others say it changes you. Many students including myself, go through all four years of high school setting goals and standards for themselves after they graduate. Your teachers and your councilors tell you that it’s a bumpy road but “you’ll get through it”. Well I can personally tell you that high school was none of that. There was an abundant amount of teachers who would emphasize the importance of collage but not many emphasized what it takes to get through it. I have yet to see the end of the first month of school and already I feel afraid and over whelmed. Collage is not a bumpy road, it’s more like going white water rafting. It’s hard, torturous, …show more content…
Who is going to make it into the collage of nursing? Who is going to get the next internship? In high school you could always count on that participation medal and pat on the back if things did not go as planned. If you fall behind in any of your classes you were often given a second chance. Collage makes it a little hard to get back on track, and can often lead to your failure. But I can’t say that none of my teachers did not help me. I do have to take some of the blame. I often preoccupied myself with trivial things that at the moment I believed were far more important than my education. I often let procrastination get a hold of me making me fall behind in many assignments and projects. Leading me to my previous statement on how high school has made things too simple for its students. Thankfully I was able to be blessed with a hand full of teachers who helped me conquer and become better at my fears, like my fear of speaking in public. They improved my communication and leadership skills. How to properly manage and distribute my time more wisely and efficiently. They did so by having me stand in front of a class and sometimes the principle of the school and give out lectures. They had me go out to other schools and recruit people for our organization. At the begin all of their tasks seamed so trivial and needless. But all this helped me advance in my life skills that I believe are helping me cope with the collage
Many people say that high school should be the best four years of your life. Most of us entered high school with this idea in mind, determined to enjoy every second of it. The confidence and energy that we held that first September allowed us to dive right into what has been an amazing four
High school is always considered some of the best years of life. Students live with their families, see their friends almost everyday, and participate in the activities they love with the people they love. It has enough freedom for the student to decide how hard they will try, but it also has just the right amount of restrictions that parents can step in to make the student work. High school also gives students many opportunities to succeed and keep letting them try again if they fail. For example, a math teacher may allow a student to retake two test throughout a semester, but if the student proves that they are trying in the class then the teacher may allow them to retake a few more tests. Also, schoolwork is not tedious or lengthy,
From happy moments to sad moments, from having the best time to falling asleep in class. Middle school was also a place for change. As Robin Sharma once stated, “Change is hard at first, messy in the middle and gorgeous at the end.” High school will definitely bring many changes in our lives. At first, everything may be difficult but, as each year goes by you will quickly realize that you are capable of handling it because, you know at the end of the day everything will be
The thought of college is often overwhelming and fills a person’s head full of anxiety and stress. If you look back on what you have accomplished up to this point in your life this large step in life suddenly seems much smaller. I have been going to the same small private school all my life so many people could argue that I have been sheltered for most of my life or see the world through “tunnel vision.” Now all of this is entirely true, but throughout my high school years I have gradually become more of the person who I am today. For example, my junior year English teacher assigned my class the daunting task of a junior thesis. At first I thought this assignment was simply busy work and had no meaning to it, but as I began to pick a topic and research it I began to discover a possible
As we go on in life we face many challenges and new situations that we deal with. A new situation that most people deal with is college and all the changes that come along with it. What many people don't realize is that high school, in many ways, is similar and differrent from college. Not only are people changing but the surroundings and work change as well. There are some things that seem to never change such as some work and people.
High School is a time when many teenagers get into trouble and have many conflicts and struggles. Without all of the struggles, high school is supposed to be four terrific years. There are many struggles for teens like peer pressure, managing your time, fitting in, and many more. Most high schoolers will get pressured by their peers at some point and can cause some serious problems. About fifty-five percent of students play a high school sport on top of having a job, keeping your grades up, and just overall having fun, which can be very hard to do. During High school, students are going to want to not be themselves and want to fit in without being judged by their peers. High school should be a time for you to have some great years in your
In reality, you’re not really prepared for high school like you think you are. You just try and hope you’ll fit in and not stand out too much; at least that’s what my mindset felt like. For starters, I impulsively moved away from home due to my parents. They decided to get back together and move to The Woodlands for a ‘fresh start’ as they call it. Upon hearing that. my high school plans were shattered. I always envisioned graduating with my best friends from junior high. I tried to make the best of the situation, but one grim thing happened after another, kind of like a domino effect.
High school is full of amazing opportunities, but you are responsible for taking those opportunities and transforming them into meaningful
Only 89 percent of students actually enjoy school. I was told in eighth grade that freshman Friday's were every Friday and students would get shoved into lockers. Another thing I was told was teachers are really mean and they don't know how to have fun. That is not true. The final thing I was told was there is a lot of homework, there is no homework if you use your time wisely. High school is and enjoyable and happy place if incoming ninth graders can remember details.
As my freshman year at college of the desert comes to an end I am very proud of the strides I have made not only in my educational life but also in my personal growth. Taking my first steps into the unknown was very nerve racking but I couldn’t wait to start this journey, especially since I would like to go so far in my education. I over prepared and tried to go above and beyond what was expected in class, which helped in some of my classes but shot me down in others. This valuable lesson taught me that I
Entering high school is the beginning of a whole new learning experience. Transitioning from middle school, high school presents more classes, students, and a bigger campus. It brings new expectations and responsibilities to each of us. High school also offers fresh chances to make new friends, try new sports and activities, and really explore who we are as individuals. The goal is to maintain good grades, score high on the SAT test, and keep a positive attitude so colleges and universities will accept you. Of course it's not as easy at sounds, but it's achievable. It requires a lot of work and dedication to every subject. Some students breeze their way through while others live in misery trying to pass their
I remember being an anxious eighth grader thinking about starting my freshman year of high school. We went from being at the top of the school to being at the bottom of a new one. All of our middle school teachers always told us about how our high school teachers wont “hold our hands” and how we will be on our own. Being in high school is completely different than being in elementary school and middle school. Its almost like each year we have more and more freedom but more responsibility.
Do you remember as you sat in that Simi large class room filled with 28 other students the smell of paper in the air and the sound of your teachers saying “that this was just the stepping stone into your life, your career, and everything you wanted to be when you grew up?” Remember back to when you were in high school allowing your teachers voices to come back to you, remember how it once was; Remember they stressed the importance of grades and attendance, what is your drive for going to school every morning, how did you manage your time whilst on campus? Imagine yourself now an adult in your first year of college coping with the stress of daily life and school, reflecting upon all those
Now high school can be a big pain in the butt, but in reality, what would you be doing at home if you weren't in school? Probably just sitting down and eating. High school is a big responsibility and a big change. Teacher's don't mean to scare you by giving you a ton of homework they're just getting you ready for the rest of your life because that is their job. You do get a lot of freedom, stress really kicks in and the people in the hallway can get on your nerves, but in the end High School is a great
Personal change is a long process. It starts at a certain point and continues for weeks, months, or even years, until the change is complete and the person becomes different. My early years of high school serve as a great personal example for this type of change. I started freshman year nervous, underachieving, and awkward. I knew it was time to start stepping out of my comfort zone and doing things to make myself more of an adult than I was at the time. High school is an opportunity to learn many things about math, English, and history. But through new friends and different experiences, I used my earlier years of high school to learn more about the real world and how to establish myself in it in a meaningful way.
