For the Mariners, besides Rangers killer Kyle Seager and Mark Trumbo, they didn’t have much offensive output either. Thankfully for Mariners faithful though, both Seager and Trumbo finished the night 4-for-4 with a home run. Other than that, Robinson Cano was the only other Mariner to register a hit.
The most memorable moment in hockey history came thirty-four years ago with the 1980 Miracle on Ice. The Americans defeating the dominant Soviet team at the Olympics was not only an important triumph for USA Hockey, but for the entire nation. Contrary to popular belief, the underdog win was not only the result of a miracle; it was also the result of a hard-working team led by Coach Herb Brooks. With increasingly negative views on the position of the United States in the Cold War, the Miracle on Ice and the gold medal win lifted the spirits of the nation and brought hockey into the American spotlight.

The City of Columbus was founded in 1828 on the banks of the Chattahoochee River. Columbus was planned and commissioned on the fall line in 1827 so the town could take advantage of the river's power. Columbus is at the head of navigation on the Chattahoochee River. This means it was possible to ride a boat from the Gulf of Mexico up the Chattahoochee to Columbus, but you could go no further due to waterfalls and rocks. In the 1850s, a bridge was built linking Phenix City, Alabama to Columbus. Georgians owned both sides of the river so competition for water power was not a problem. By 1860, Columbus had Georgia's third largest population. During the Civil War Columbus earned the reputation of "The Lowell of the South."

After finishing off New Jersey in game five, Tampa Bay awaited a ruling from the NHL league office on the status of the NHL’s third leading point producer. Nikita Kucherov actually left the ice to lay a violent hit on Vatanen, so there was some sense he could be punished with a one game suspension.
The CWHL first-round playoff matchups were solidified last week, and home ice advantage in the Brampton Thunder/Calgary Inferno series was the only thing still up for grabs in the final weekend of the CWHL regular season. Home ice advantage is of particular importance in the CWHL playoffs, as the entirety of the best-of-three series is played in the higher-seeded team's home arena. The Thunder would have needed four points in two back-to-back games to overtake the second place Calgary Inferno, and would have to do all of this without one of their top forwards as Candice Styles was aiding a minor concussion.
