In nowadays, people have become more and more engage in political discussion. One of the topics that people mostly discuss about is that should the goal of politics is pursuit of an ideal, or find common ground and reach consensus? In my opinion, the goal of politics should find common ground and reach consensus. Though pursuing an ideal is attempting, it is often unrealistic. On the other hand, finding common ground and reaching consensus the way to reach a solution.
To begin with, it is not realistic to set the goal of politics to pursuit of an ideal. People in the society have different opinion and interests; it is hard to change their minds. For example, Republicans believe that the government should not engage in any economic activities.
Cronkhite (2013) discussed the different perspectives of the criminal justice system models which are the consensus model and the conflict model. Both models attempt to explain how the different parts of the criminal system work to deliver the goal of the mission which is justice. According to the consensus model all the competing parts of the criminal justice system, police, prosecutors, courts, probation and parole, work together and all components of the criminal justice system are related. Each component of the criminal justice system is viewed as a sub-agency of the entire system and each contributes to, and conflict with, the success of the other sub-agencies (Cronkhite, 2013). The consensus model operates on the assumption that each
In this paper I will discuss the conflict that is occurring at General Hospital, the conflict management styles that are evident in the case, and how General Hospital could have used teams to address the cost reductions needed to stay competitive. I will also describe how the CEO of General Hospital, Mike Hammer can us negotiation skills to get buy-in for the cost reductions and finally I will recommend a strategy for Hammer to resolve the problem.
D. Demonstrate an ability to prevent, manage, and resolve interpersonal conflicts in constructive ways. 2D.1b. Identify approaches to resolving conflicts constructively.
To imagine and address all of the needs of just one individual may seem like a difficult job in itself, but to contemplate an institution to address the needs of thousands of people is highly impressive. This is what our government does for Americans today. Ever since the Declaration of Independence was signed, people throughout the United States encountered many freedoms, but with great power comes great responsibility. Without politics and our American Government, there would be pandemonium and chaos throughout the country. Within the United States, our government must be balanced and it must have some form of structure. It can not be so structured that it becomes a tyrannical and
A utopian society would be classified as perfect and just for all. This society has been conceived numerous times throughout history along with numerous ideologies. Although these ideologies have solved specific problems, none of them can be considered perfect due to numerous perceptions, which in turn would prevent perfection. In 1984, the Party made a totalitarian government. Like other oppressive governments throughout history, the ideology designed by the Party was not capable of creating a society that could support all people. Currently democracy provides the best society, but can still create oppositions of views. Even though some ideologies may present themselves as ideal, when applied to reality, they fail due to uncontrollable factors. This means an “ideal” society is impossible for mankind to accomplish as proposed by the totalitarian government in 1984 and from historical events.
In summary, we should not stray from the principles and ideals of our precedent president, George Washington. He warned us against political parties and debt. Now we are $19 trillion in debt. Political parties turn elections into a display of childlike dramatics. He stressed the importance of religion and morality in government, which would actually keep a government from becoming a tyranny. We should apply these principles and ideals back into our society and government. Maybe if we had listened to him from the beginning, we wouldn't be in the position that we are currently
Those on the left and right say the optimal political outcome is one in which their side gets more of what it wants.
After reading these three chapters, I found they were really helpful for writing research papers. Specifically, the biggest take away from these chapters was section 16.2 Step 1: Establish Common Ground. (p. 235-237) Establishing common ground usually is a key to persuade others to continue reading the paper. It is like a window of my paper because if I could not write a good beginning then probably no one would like to continue to read my paper. Therefore, I believe that the introduction of the papers play an really important role in the paper.
That idea stated above correlates with the next point. In an idealistic society whose goals
Agreed ways of working mean that the individuals follow the policies and procedures which has been set by their employers or organisations and fulfil their roles and responsibilities in accordance their job description. It is important to adhere to the agreed scope of your job role as this defines the your responsibilities which you are expected to meet. By working outside of your job role or neglecting your responsibilities, you may put yourself, service users, colleagues and employers at risk and possibly their needs and expectations not being met. This may leave yourself and others in a unsafe situation within the care setting and even it can lead to serious consequences. For
Many political beliefs exist. Everyone has the right to chose what to believe in, what ideas to have, what to seek and how to achieve his goals. Political science is not very defined and strict. Specific rules saying that if one believes in a certain idea he should join a certain party do not exist. Certain things match certain group of people and other things this group of people would not accept. The same principle can be applied for countries. Communism appears to be successful for China, but it failed for Eastern European countries. It is very important the proper way of government to be found and used by the government of a country. The failure of the government can lead to failure in
What’s at stake for the key parties, including those that may disagree with you? What is important to them? What does the target value and why?
One reason why a perfect society can never be made is due to the fact that even though it might be set up perfectly, we cannot change the fact that people are imperfect. Any bit of imperfection is all it takes to cause something to turn from perfect to imperfect. One writer said about utopian societies, “Even with such optimism, the flawed individual is still inserted into otherwise improved societies" (Hough 1). This quote explains how the society in general is improved, but the people are not. Governments have tried to change the way people think to create perfect humans. People are influenced to think exactly how the government wants them to, and teaches them from a young age to love the Party and the government in which they live. Their right to make their own assessment is being taken away. It is true that governments are often successful in brainwashing the majority of the population; however, they can never control
An ideal society is considered to be a utopian society, defined as a society where everything is as good as it possibly can be for everyone living in that society. However this type of society has never existed before and continues to be a dream that remains locked up in our minds. Three philosophers who seem to propose an ideal just society are John Rawls, Karl Marx and Milton Friedman. I will be explaining what my vision of an ideal society is and what are the basis and fundamental principles that Rawls, Marx and Friedman use in order to obtain a just society.
Whenever you think of idealism, Martin Luther King, Jr. or Gandhi would come to your mind who stand as idealists in making the world a better place. We think of Idealism as good in the face of evil, or of ideals bracing us up from the dust of reality, purifying life from its toxins (Macionis, 2012) .As explained by Plato(1509), Idealism is a philosophy that believes that the ideas are the only true reality and that this reality is perfect. Being imaginary and believing in the good in human explains this vision. Talking about idealists, they are the optimists who look for common good against notion of war or conflict. Idealists
