* Asking questions about sex and their bodies. * Actively engaged in sexual relations with others. Learning Theory to Be Utilized: Explain how the theory will be applied. According to Vygotsky, “the Social Development Theory argues that social interaction precedes development; consciousness and cognition are the end product of socialization and social behavior” (Learning-Theories.com). As the author and presenter, I truly believe that teenagers’ biggest influences in their lives are their peers. I will use demonstrations and activities that encourage interaction, in hopes that the teens will in essence learn from one another. MTV and Facebook are very much engrained in the culture of adolescents; I believe using these examples in my presentation are representative of teens social behaviors, and in turn will steer them toward understanding the content of the proposal. Goal: Healthy People 2010 (HP2010) objective(s) utilized as the goal for the teaching. Include the appropriate objective number and rationale for using the selected HP2010 objective (use at least one objective from one of the 24 focus areas). If an HP2010 objective does not support your teaching, explain how your teaching applies to one of the two overarching HP2010 goals. Taken from Healthy People2020 list of objectives and statistical data/rationale, which can be found at:
With social media growing and growing into a mass of accounts and profiles and different groups of people and clubs and websites and other things, what adolescents do on social media is something that many parents worry about. Not every parent is at ease with the fact that their child/teenager is out in open water; one young human being surrounded by millions of other human beings who are younger, the same age, or older than them. The article “Teenage social media butterflies may not be such a bad idea” takes a look at teenagers ' use of social media. Social media is a very important tool, allowing people to connect or continue their relationships without
We live in an era ruled by social media, primarily when it comes to teenagers, social media is used for everything. From communicating with family and friends to being used as a news outlet, and even advertisement for business and companies. This article is titled “Social Media: What's Not to Like,” written by Alison Pearce Stevens. The topic of this essay is the effect social media can have on teenagers. Social media, on one hand, can be used as a great way to share with the world and boost teens’ self-esteem. On the other hand, social media can be used as a place for bullying, body shaming and can cause depression or even suicide in teens.
Older generations don’t realize how much technology has affected this generation of teenagers, along with the social media that comes along with the technology. As stated in “How Social Media Changed Teens’ Lives Forever”; “Negative posts or comments also can do great damage to a teen’s self-esteem.” (Ashley Black, Thomas Atseff and Colleen Kaveney) While many parents think social media is just a way to connect with others, many teenagers take it for granted. For example, “quitting social media because it made her miserable and obsessed with appearing perfect online”, is what a teenager felt about social media and what it has done to her. Though many think that social media is a great way to connect, teenagers take it to another level.
Introduction: This chapter introduces the social world to adolescence in multiple ways. This chapter also showcases how social media and peers impact the adolescent development, things like parents and a school’s role showcase multiple ways how to affective learn ways to better develop the adolescence during this time.
How Does This HP2020 Objective Relate to Alma Ata’s Health for All Global Initiatives (See page 116 in the textbook)? Alma Alta’s global initiative initiated the promotion of health care services including primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention strategies to improve the health of all trough education on existing health problems through prevention.
My personal thoughts on the impact of the social media by the PBS Frontline “Generation Like” video was very informative and showed how much I have been out touch with reality with the communication movement with today’s generation and how involved the social media plays a part in our lives. After carefully examining the video and looking back at past court cases, I believe the social media can be a double-edged sword for our adolescence teenagers. The media can either be positive or negative impact on our adolescence children. The video by PBS provided a transparent imagine how teens were able to accomplish a positive self imagine and fame on different social medias like Facebook, Twitter, and My Space to build their self confidence about themselves by communicating with their peers and on a global level of
Healthy People 2020 is a very valuable online educational resource that was designed to educate and empower society to identify, manage, and prevent many diseases and disabilities (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 2014a). In attempt to improve the amount of Americans suffering from preventable diseases, on December 2, 2010 the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services “unveiled Healthy People 2020, the nation’s new 10-year goals and objectives for health promotion and disease prevention” (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 2010, para. 1).
Include the appropriate objective number and rationale for using the selected HP2020 objective (use at least one objective from one of the 24 focus areas). If an HP2020 objective does not support your teaching, explain how your teaching applies to one of the two overarching HP2020 goals.
A concerned expression emerges upon her face as the constant beeping and buzzing from the neighboring room drifts into her ears. Knowing her obligation as a parent, she rises from her bed and heads toward the room of the noises. When she enters the room, she finds herself facing a disaster; his head is tilted forward, his eyes are fixed on the screen of his iPhone, his fingers are moving rapidly, and all of his attention is wrapped around nothing else but the activity he’s doing on his iPhone. The disaster that appears before her is the teenager of modern day. In the article, “Antisocial Networking?,” the author, Hilary Stout, claims that social media is inimical to adolescents due to the fact that youngsters who use it become less interested

Although others may say that the use of media leaves teens in their rooms for hours and in the end makes antisocial, it is proven to create a chance for a new friendship. Many people also may say that teens could post something that they will later regret, or that they will encounter a cyber bully or perhaps be hunted by an online predator. Teens are more likely to show how responsible they are with their use of social

Hygiene and healthy living practices are important aspects of human life that are imparted onto an individual right from childhood. However, there are lapses in hand washing hygiene amongst parents and teachers thereby occasioning an unrestricted spread of germs. This in turn leads to the spread of flu and common cold as well as other strange hybrid diseases. This paper seeks to lay out a work plan for teaching proper hand washing and its importance to preschoolers. This would be geared toward reinforcing hand washing in the children and thus change their habits both at home and school. As more dangerous and contagious germs are being discovered each day, one would owe it to the preschoolers to promote the hand washing skill.
Social media (including mobile technology, blogs, social network sites, etc.) offer tools for people to interconnect, share information, and fraternize. In fact, technology has become the main source for communication now. Yet, persistent use of social networking sites have brought people together, support societal issues, and offer an outlet for creative expression. According to the ICOF (Issues and Controversies On File) it is argued that these sites offer a venue to build to make new friends and develop a healthy social atmosphere among teens:
