Michael Jordan is better than Lebron James
Slam! One of the biggest topics in the NBA right now is who is better Michael Jordan or Lebron James. Some people say Lebron James because he has more assists and rebounds but in this essay, I’m going to prove to you that Michael Jordan is better than Lebron James.
Michael Jordan scores more and is a better scorer than Lebron James. Michael Jordan has six titles and six Finals MVPs while Lebron James only has three titles with only three finals MVPs. That’s half of Michael Jordan. Michael has five regular season MVPs while Lebron James only has three. Michael Jordan has more career points and had better shooting games than Lebron James.
Michael Jordan is a better defender. Michael was on the All-Defense
There’s been a long time comparison of Michael Jordan and Lebron James. Personally I think that Michael jordan is way better. He played in an era where there was some tough defense. He excelled at the pressure and difficulty. He put up amazing numbers, legendary numbers. He is in history as “The Best Basketball Player Ever.” He didn’t get that title for no reason.
In conclusion, Lebron is one of the greatest to play the game and will be in the top ten of all time. That still does not mean he will surpass Michael anytime soon if not ever. They are both so equal but so different in their own ways. He simply has not done enough to even be in this conversation at all. Now it does not matter because people have their own opinions and will argue that LeBron will be better than Jordan. People just need to understand that the facts do not lie. LeBron James will never be as good or better than Michael Jordan.
The comparison between Kobe Bryant and LeBron James is pretty similar. both players play basketball, both are all stars, and leaders of their teams. Kobe and LeBron are both always amongst the top five in scoring each year. Kobe and LeBron are sponsored by Nike and are always amongst the top in accessory sales. Kobe plays in the western conference while LeBron plays in the eastern conference. Kobe has 5 championship and 1 MVP award, while LeBron has 2 championships and 4 MVP awards. LeBron is no where near Kobe's achievements, Kobe has 19 years in the league while LeBron has 13 years in the league. at the end of the day, both players will go down in the basketball hall of fame once their careers are finished.
The common argument made between the two is that Michael Jordan has six championship rings and LeBron James only has two. Jordan never lost in a finals and James has lost four. Jordan never had to play in a game seven. Those are all valid reason on why Michael Jordan is better than LeBron James but let’s take a deeper look into each player’s career to show the things people don’t look at to prove Jordan was the better player.
Also Michael has done some crazy things players like Lebron James only dream of doing. He had 10 triple doubles in 11 games when the Bulls put him at point guard but he then went back to shooting guard because it is more comfortable for him. He has the highest. He has the most 30 point playoff games with 109 and when Jordan made it to the finals the Bulls won the championship every single time. In his last finals game ever the Bulls trusted him so much that he was the only person on the Bulls to even touch the ball in the last 40 seconds and hit a game winning shot. Also in every full season that he
Michael averaged 2.4 steals per game while Kobe averaged 1.5. Michael is third in total stealing, but Kobe falls to thirteen in this category. Also Michael averaged 0.8 blocks a game, and Kobe averaged 0.5 blocks a game. This is not to say that Michael’s defense was better, but he was more active on defense than Kobe. Kobe was more offensive-minded, whereas Michael was more all-around. Michael was more of a team player; he made those around him better or seem better. Kobe is more of a selfish player and the only person he believes is responsible is himself. Michael has always been Kobe idle, and Kobe has strived his whole career to surpass him. In fact the game in which he pass Michael in total point, Kobe made seven out of twenty shot. In his words, “I'm just honored to be here, man, to still be playing, I appreciate being able to play this long. Careers normally don't last this long. I really appreciate the opportunity to still be out there playing and performing and doing what I do" (Holmes, Baxter. "Kobe Tops Jordan on NBA Scoring List." ESPN. ESPN Internet Ventures, n.d. Web. 27 Oct.
Nothing is more important than the awards a player has achieved. To exceed the impossible is what motivates an athlete to go beyond what others are willing to execute. This is where Michael and LeBron truly become equal but separate at the same time. Michael has attended fourteen all-star games versus the twelve games that LeBron has played in. Obviously James will play in more all-star games by the end of his career. On the other hand, LeBron will play in more season than Michael ever did. So, it would not be fair to say he was better in that sense. Aside from all the other awards, only one trophy matters more than the rest. The Larry O’Brien championship trophy is the most prestigious achievement a player can be awarded. LeBron only has two
And that is why I succeed.” Jordan’s desire propelled him to accomplish numerous aeronautic feats. The accomplishments of basketball legend Michael Jordan include Rookie of the Year, winning numerous NBA championships, earning the title of NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) five times, scoring 10 titles and ultimately retiring with the highest score in NBA history. Jordan played professional basketball for the Chicago Bulls and the Washington Wizards. Many fans and professional basketball players consider him to be the most accomplished basketball player in
In the beginning years of Jordan playing in the NBA, he had some trouble adjusting to the NBA style of defense. He was not a strong straight up defender, and he often took too many chances on defense trying to get steals. The criticism he received from outside watchers motivated him to practice and to become better. In the 1987-1988 season, Jordan’s efforts on defense paid off. He not only led the league in steals, but he also led the Bulls in blocked shots (Haung 1). His defensive power was so dominating that he won the defensive player of the year award, along with the season MVP. Jordan proved to everyone that he was not just a scoring machine but a great defender as well. LeBron, on the other hand, is a decent defensive player but not
Michael Jordan has won six NBA championships (MJ23). All six of these were while he was on the Chicago Bulls (MJ23). Jordan was also the NBA finals mvp for all six of those championships (MJ23). This is proving that he was an immense part in all six championships. He won all six with his teammate Scottie Pippen (MJ23).
There are many basketball players in the world. Throughout the history, some players became more known than other players. Kobe Bryant and Dwyane Wade are very well known in this world. Although their awards are similar, Kobe Bryant is a better basketball player than Dwyane Wade because of his statistics and records.
When you think of Michael Jordan you think of crazy layups, high flying dunks, and moves that the world had never seen before at the time. When you think of LeBron James you think of strength, shooting ability, and the overall skill he has in understanding the game. Michael Jordan did perform better in the most important games or moments. LeBron’s highlights come from moments where they really do not matter. For example, Jordan would score fifty or more points and win a very tight game whereas James would score thirty points and lose the
I am one of many basketball fans that juxtapose (1)Michael Jordan with Kobe Bryant. The only tenet (2) of basketball is make the ball go through the hoop, no matter how far you are from the hoop and try to prevent the other team from doing the same thing. If you would ask 10 people who has a little bit of a basketball knowledge, 8 out of them would invariably (3) pick MJ, and they would have veracity (4)in this decision and they would justify it by just simply looking at the championship and individual award numbers. However, I believe that if they faced each other in their primes, I would have Kobe winning over MJ. To be eloquent (5), I must give some proofs. First of all, the speed of the game, strength of the defenders and basketball itself
When it comes to who is the best active basketball player, these two names come at the top of the list, LeBron James and Kobe Bryant. They come first not only because they both started their career right after graduating from high school, but they have achieved lot and been rewarded so many times base of their great performance at young age. The two players are so great that many people are already saying that they are better than Michael Jordan, “The Greatest Basketball Player of All Time”. James and Bryant so great that basketball’s fans have given them nicknames because of their spectacular performance. Kobe Bryant is known as “The Black Mamba” because of his aggressiveness, and ability to dominate his opponents every time. On the other hand, LeBron James is also known as ‘King James” because he also plays in a very aggressive way just like Bryant and in addition to that, King James also has the ability to defeat his opponent and also able to defend any basketball player and still dominates. Although both of these two players are super stars however, only one of them can be title as the best player of their era and because of that, comparing head to head is the only way to pick one as the best active player.
Michael Jordan was a great basketball player, but he was not the best athlete of all time. He played two professional sports, he played baseball and basketball, and he was great at basketball but not so great at baseball. Michael was a really famous athlete and he was among the best, but he was not the best.
