The United States and the United Kingdom Comparisons The United States and the United Kingdom have been directly linked for decades. The influence of the United Kingdom has played out partially in distinct areas since the Founding Fathers contributed to the rise of a nation – the United States. For instance, the United States has a constitution which is the supreme law of the land, whereas, the United Kingdom has provisions that are in the Acts of Parliament. Secondly, the United States has a separation of powers in regards to the judiciary, legislature, and executive – the United Kingdom has not separation essentially making one person a member of all three arms. Thirdly, the United States has a presidential system where a president is elected and the United Kingdom system is a parliamentary system with the Prime Minister being in office as long as a majority of votes are cast in the House of Commons maintaining his power. Trying to compare the United States to Switzerland is quite difficult, especially when there are many differences between the states of America. So the easiest is to compare the general aspects across the board, and for the smaller differences I can only compare it with Texas, since I have lived there my whole life.
This paper is a comparison of the lives of two influential statesmen in western culture, one British and the other American. Great Britain and the United States have had a long and sometimes complicated relationship throughout history.
The United States of America is a country located on the continent of North America that is ruled by a federal authority. France, conversely, is a country located on the continent of Europe with a semi-presidential republic. These two forms of government utilized by each country are both similar and different, although they are both democratic republics. Both nations have a written constitution and use a system of checks and balances that divide power into three branches: the legislative, the executive, and the judiciary. The legislative branches are very similar, having analogous houses of Congress, but the executive and judiciary branches are notably different.
As a child, I had always dreamed of traveling around the world and viewing its breathtaking creations. Through the years I still have this sudden niche for traveling and experiencing new and exciting things. From Costa Rica to much of the United States I have ventured upon a lot of traveling. Through the sale of my parents family business I received the opportunity to travel west and help the new owners grow. After traveling through many of the western states I finally realized how different not only the terrain was, but culture as well.
Tackling obesity is a complex process that requires a proactive approach and interventions from the individual, society, local authorities, and public health service and partner organisation (PHE 2016f). In response to obesity as a public health issue, the government introduces no of policies, strategy and health campaign to tackle this problem, including Change4life campaign and Healthy Lives, Healthy People: A call to action on obesity in England (Foresight 2007). Chang4life is a public health campaign in England, which started in 2009 supported by the Department of Health to tackle growing problem of obesity (Change4life 2016). This was the first campaign to adopt a social marketing approach to address obesity by making significant improvements in an individual’s diet, being physically active and alcohol consumption to improve their health (NHS Choices 2016a).
The United States System is composed of an elected President, Bicameral elected House of Representatives and Senate, and an appointed Supreme Court. The United Kingdom’s system is composed of the Monarch, which is either a King or Queen, the Prime Minister, a Bicameral appointed House of Lords and an elected House of Commons, and the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom. The United States consists of only one nation, whereas the United Kingdom consists of fifteen nations.
Changer for life is a public health programme which was set up in 2009 it has been set up by the department of health; the programme was set up to tackle obesity it is aimed at all ages from kid’s right up to adults. Now days a lot people lack health with so many entertainment such as watching tv playing computer games and even the food now that they have readymade meals and fast food which is quick easy and cheap to eat our diets have completely changed we don’t get enough nutrients and the easy food and cheap food is full of fat which can cause heart disease and obesity.
The cooperation of America and Britain has had thousands of years’ antiquity that started with America as the colony of Britain. Historical studies prove that the relationship between the United States and United Kingdom stem from their coalition in the Second World War. Britain’s premiership and the United States’ presidency have often ruled hand in hand. Throughout the years presidents and prime ministers have borrowed ideas from other politicians.
The United Kingdom, a place filled with historical landmarks, royalties, even extravagant palaces. Our culture and social tendencies stem from many unique places, but the majority of our culture relates back to the U.K. Despite our social tendencies and cultural similarities, we hold major differences.
