After taking the study skills test, I feel that my scores reveal that I am proficient in one category but then satisfactory in every other one. I find that I am proficient at using Google Drive because I got a 12/12 in that category. I always keep my Google Drive organized with every document in a folder, and sometimes another folder in that folder. For example, I have an English folder with five folders in it, and another folder in one out of those five. I feel that I struggle with organization which is shown by my nine out of 12 on that specific category. I always have a document or project, but occasionally it takes me a while to find it. I could, additionally, use a calendar to always keep track of what I have on a particular day. Improving …show more content…
But I don’t know any advanced technology; therefore, I need to gain experience in more advanced technology. I feel that I have excelled at word processing. I reached level four for word processing, which is the highest level. I can use this skill in school and for a job that I may have because I always have to write documents for school, and probably for a job too. Technology has helped me as a student by always have something to help me with spelling, there is always spell check and the internet to help you. Technology has helped my life because if I ever need to talk to somebody and they are far away, I can send them a text message or phone call. Additionally, I can always search something up if I have a question. I struggle with spreadsheets, as seen with my level one that I got on the spreadsheets section. Spreadsheets is very unknown to me because I have only used it once, and didn’t really know what I was doing. Using spreadsheets will help me in the future because I know many jobs use them. I know that my older brother has to use them all the time for his job. I could use this skill for CDL because it will be an easy way to add the cost of things up. Based on my above analysis of the technology assessment, I would like to grow in more advanced things on the computer. I will do this by watching tutorials and using new programs to do the
During any court proceeding, it is required that the defendant is competent to stand trial. Legal competency is defined as “the presence of those characteristics, or the absence of those disabilities, which render a witness legally fit and qualified to give testimony in a court of justice” (thelawdictionary.org). Defendants that are found mentally incompetent to stand trial are usually hospitalized and receive some type of treatment until the person is competent to stand trial. To determine mental competency there are a few commonly used tests.
After completing the learning assessments for each of the classes I chose to meet National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration’s (NASPAA) five core competencies, I feel as though I have a much more complete vision of what the MPA program is set out to accomplish for me in my academic and professional lives. The various assignments included in this portfolio were included because I feel they best represent my best work in the MPA program. NAASPA’s core competencies, I believe, are the living heartbeat of the MPA program. They include the ability to lead and manage in public governance, the ability to participate in and contribute to the policy process, to analyze, synthesize, think critically, solve problems, and make decisions, the ability to articulate and apply a public service perspective, and the ability to communicate and interact productively with a diverse and changing workforce and citizenry. All five of these competencies are crucial to thinking and planning strategically, manage services, understanding the complexities in, managing, and applying effective administration in all aspects of government.
It is important to ensure that we meet the need of the students on every level. One effective way to do this is to observe, assess, and record children’s efforts and progress. In this way, an educator can prepare to help a child’s progression in the class. Being able to track and refer to the progress of a child helps to ensure greater levels of success. In the end, our program is only as successful as the children in our care. Record keeping can identify areas that need improvement, and allows us to teach to their strong points.
In 1889 Jane Adams along with Ellen Gates Starr, as the pioneer or "Mother" of social work opened the doors to Chicago's Hull House, which provided social services that included: child care; education in history, music, and mathematics; a library, employment assistance; as well as many others to immigrant communities in the city (NASW 60th Anniversary Interactive Timeline, 2016). Today, the philanthropic work of two women has become the field of social work, with thousands of professional social workers continuing the work they started. Like everything else, the field of social work has evolved over the years to to become a diverse and expanding field. According to the text “Social Work Values and Ethics” by Fredrick G. Reamer (2013), “at its infancy in the late
Many assessment tools and interviewing skills are available to the clinical social worker within a mental health setting. This paper will examine one such assessment tool, the competency based assessment, and its applicability in a mental health setting. A comparison will be made between this advanced assessment method and a generalist social work assessment. Interviewing people who have mental health concerns can offer challenges for clinical social workers. Several interviewing techniques that can help with some of these challenges will be outlined.

Throughout my work with candidates I use number of different assessment methods as well as assessment categories. Assessment is a number of different methods which are used to evaluate performance and can be used measured against set criteria.
To provide a developmentally appropriate learning environment that is safe, healthy, respectful and supportive of children and families. For the learning environment to be safe, I ensure that I always check identification, and have parents notify me whenever someone new to the list will be picking up. I always bring my roster with me to ensure I have all my children with me. I do a roll call every time we get to a new area after traveling anywhere away from our room, and before leaving the room. Another way that I make the learning environment safe is by covering all the outlets in the room, and making sure sharp or dangerous objects are put away, and out of the children’s reach. I put cleaning supplies and other chemicals in high locked cabinets.
After completing the Smarter Measure assessment, I have come to realize that although I am doing good, there are some things in my life that I need to improve on. For example, I am no expert when it comes to computers, I am extremely slow at typing, and I don't like asking questions all that often. However, I believe that I can work on these faults to truly make myself better. First, I will step out of my comfort zone, and ask questions to help me gain understanding, no matter what. Next, to help me with computers, I can ask someone I know, such as my parents, to teach me how to excel on Word, as well as how to properly download documents/PDFs. After I am taught the gist of it all, I will continue on to seek more information from online
This week in the field as an intern for the Department of Social Services, I was able to complete in-office tasks and complete a home visit with my supervisor. On Monday my supervisor informed me she and other coworkers were in need of creating a new resource manual that would be up to date with the current resources in the Midlands area. Therefore, one of the tasks completed this week was creating a resource manual that would have more resources with up to date numbers, addresses, and contact persons. During this process, I was able to understand the importance of workers having the manual up to date with more resources added to it. Competency skill 9 states a professional social worker, “Actively refers clients to community resources.” With this being required of a professional
Nursing is considered to be a noble and rewarding profession in the society. It is a unique discipline that serves to treat sick people in the community with compassionate care and by applying knowledge, skills and ethics, to promote the patients’ healing process. The role of nursing has been influenced by spiritual beliefs, religious practices as well as cultural norms and values. The culture is influenced by the valuable ideas of different philosophers over the past two centuries. As per Galanti "Culture is that it encompasses beliefs and behaviors that are learned and shared by members of a group" (Galanti, 2015). Basically, culture is the plan and set of rules, imposed by a society for the people to live successfully within that society.

Goal 1: To Use data to differentiate instructions and as an indicator of students growth.
These are the skills and competencies I have learned through my studies at Walden University. Kaslow, Grus, Campbell, & Fouad, et al. (2009) stated professionalism comes from my respect for those who need help. Integrity can be built with confidence in the therapist. Attitudes are charitable, polite, caring emotions toward others that fuel my motivation toward helping. This concern welfare of others comes from my religious and personal experiences as a child and young adult.
My interest in providing culturally competent care inspired me to become a nurse practitioner, but most of all the inspirations came from the wonderful diverse patients I have had the privilege to care for throughout my nursing career. My primary objective is to care for underserved population communities. In my career, I have seen lives been cut short that would have been saved if only they had made it to the hospital in time. But because of reasons including lack of health care access, knowledge how to access care, cultural and religious beliefs, language barrier, and fear of being judged by medical professionals led them not seek medical attention.
