P&G and Federated Department quarterly sales trends According to the data, P&G’s quarterly net sales for year ended June 30, 2005 was $14,185,250 (P&G el at) and for Federated Department stores’ theirs were 3,907,500. (Federated, 2005) In my opinion P&G quarterly is much higher than that of the Federated Department Store and with this being said, I believe the Federated Department Store would have a greater cash budgeting concern because they have less net quarterly profit to work with.
P&G’s business scope P&G have manufacturing facilities operating globally in over 80 countries and is organized along seven geographic areas. Their three Global Business Units (GBUs) are P&G Beauty, P&G Family Health and P&G Household Care. All of P&G’s 17 billion dollar brands are included in each of the GBUs and P&G offers over 300 total brands in more than 160 countries. P&G’s Market Development Organization operates in the seven geographic areas, which consisted of North America, Western Europe, Northeast Asia, Latin America, Central, and Eastern Europe/Middle East/Africa, Greater China and ASEANA/Australasia/India. Sparkle Company is a Nigerian diamond mining company. Sparkle is a joint venture, 50 percent owned by Shine and 50 percent owned by Brighten. Both Shine and Brighten are U.S.-based companies with their functional currency being the American dollar. Sparkle Companies functional currency is that of Nigeria, being the Naira. During 2009, Sparkle had several transactions with its joint venture owners and outside parties. The details of Sparkle’s transactions are three loans, three expenditures, and one revenue stream. The applicants are morally correct as long as their action promotes their long term interest. As mentioned in the introduction of the mini case, Hobby Horse Company, Inc. (HH) experienced a tough year in 2011. HH opened up a number of new stores but experienced a poor Christmas season. Christmas season is the biggest sale period for retail stores. As a result, bad Christmas sales performance played a big part of HH’s loss for year 2011.
