There standing beside Grady, was the mother of the baby cub.Grady thought of running, but that would most likely cause her to chase him.If he were to run, he would run back to the campsite.Where his family was!Grady did NOT want to put his family in danger. All of a sudden, his boy scout teacher's reminder, in case of a bear was near you, the voice echoed"When you come upon a bear, fall to the ground and play dead".Grady also remembered what his dad told him, by the campfire. He had said,"to scare the bear off, you need to start banging something to make a loud noise".So Grady, not knowing which to do, dropped to the ground and pretended to be dead.Unfortunately, that did NOT work."Stupid boy scouts.Stupid Mr.Daniels,as well",Grady thought out loud.As Grady looked up at the mother bear, he noticed that she was just sitting there. All she did was look back and forth at Grady and her cub.Using that as a distraction,he ran back towards the camp.He thought back to what he just saw,as he reached the circle of trees that surrounded the camp.It was very weird. He trudged on until he got to the campfire, which his parents and brother was sitting at.Grady then told his parents about the bear and how she just stood there.Jared was the first to speak,"Cool".But Grady knew Jared wasn't intrigued. His parents told him how they BOTH know that bear and how she visits every time they come."Merida?Timothy?",said a voice.Grady turned around to see THE BEAR standing with her cub …show more content…
"Is he that dangerous?""Yes, he is indeed scrappy kid!",said a deep voice."Who just said that?",said Grady's mom."It's me!',said the strange voice.'Behind the fire!",said it again.Everyone turned to see the fire, but it wasn't the only thing behind them. There stood the most feared bear this forest has
Damien serenely peering into the aisle. My trainer had asked me to ride him. As I picked his hooves and curried his chestnut flanks, he was as tranquil as autumn leaves in a gentle breeze until he saw the saddle, then he became a tornado whirling around the center of the stall.
In the dusk of a summer Saturday evening, a trickle of light streams through the overhead leaves. One particular horse poses beneath a canopy of towering Adirondack oaks, most of which are only rivaled by the antique racetrack in age. Only a few fans are all that remains of the crowd that adorned the grandstand the hour before, with dreams to witness history. The few that linger lean enthusiastically over the barn barricade that had once struggled to restrain the appreciative masses and masses, only for the opportunity to catch a glimpse of this particular thoroughbred in the distance. But this horse didn’t win today. Today’s victor grazed out of his stall rows down, seemingly unnoticed. The sky, once a brilliant blue, has turned darker with
She didn’t remember much from the trip back to the Canyon. She’s pretty sure that she caused more then half a dozen trees to fall, and took off some of the siding of a house that she got a little to close too. No serious damage done.
His heart jumped into his throat, as he was staring into the eyes of a black bear. Not only did his opinion of camping degrade even more, but now he had to arrange the thoughts in his head, so that he could find his dad's advice to put in this situation. He applied all of his knowledge to the problem, and if he did it incorrectly it would ruin his life. He stayed calm, trying his best not to act like prey and not show fear. He even tried to converse with the possibly killer beast. One of the things he said was, "Nice bear, I was just looking, and making sure things were okay.". Eventually, because of ten minutes of peacefully exchanging looks and words, the bear soon calmed down. Grady walked back slowly to the campsite, his mind time traveling
“Young girls, without their mothers to take care of them, are very apt to into mischief”, said Proserpina’s mother, Ceres, but little did she know she would be correct. Proserpina goes and vistits the sea nymphs, and after she is done visiting she does exactly what her mother feared. Proserpina goes out to the forest to look at the beautiful flowers. One shrub caught her eye, she almost felt tempted to go closer. She pulled at the shrub and a hole began to form and kept “spreading wider and wider, and growing deeper and deeper, until it really seemed to have no bottom: and all the while, there came a rumbling noise out of its depths, louder and louder, and nearer and nearer, and sounding like the tramp of horses’ hoofs and the rattling of wheels.
“Dude, what are you doing?” Zach yelped, scurrying after his friend, tripping on branches. Earlier that evening, Carson, Zach, and a few other of their friends were hanging out at the annual Halloween bonfire. They were heading home when one of the boys decided they should take a shortcut, taking an alleyway behind the grocery store that cuts to a bumpy run down street littered with trash and cracks. Coincidentally, this winding road cuts a corner through the forest, emerging on the other side of town. Wandering along the pothole laden street, the wind starts howling, and the group hears a strange noise from amongst the trees, snapping branches and crunching leaves. Stopping, the boys peer in every direction, but notice nothing except the trees in the pale moonlight.
Tiny creeped outside. The crisp autumn air bit her nose. Tiny did not care. She decided that since her parents were asleep that she could take a short little walk before her parents woke up. Tiny started off. She strolled through the forest. Walking slow so that she could see the squirrels scamper up and down the trees, but there was a problem. There was no squirrels scampering up and down the trees. In fact there was no wildlife at all. Just her and the dark, dark evergreen trees blowing in the wind. Suddenly, Tiny found out why. A hunter was in the trees. Tiny ran for her life! She ran screaming “Mama, Papa!”. Maybe a little too

So what was there to do. Flood the area with my swarm and hide? Well... I seriously considered that as I wove through a grove of small trees.
“ Past the edge of the city there was a dark and gloomy forest that always had fog on it. Coming to the conclusion that Jack wasn’t joking he said “Listen there are no mysterious shadows that lurk in the Dark Forest, and to prove it I am going to go in there tonight.”
The pitiful creature was panicking. The tiny cat was cold and confused. Even though I was mad that he had run away, I couldn’t help but turn on the fire to keep him warm. Zach and I had been friends for years, so I called him and he agreed to help me find Newman. When my parents
At exactly four o’clock, the doorbell rang. Sarah smoothed her hair one last time and waited for the guests to scan in and identify themselves as family before being able to enter. “Diana, how are you? Travis, you’ve gotten so big.” The boy standing in the doorway was a disappointment. He had straight brown hair with a boring face and a smell of stale Cheerios. Sarah was star struck, not knowing what to say. “Why don’t you show Travis around the area, Sarah. After all, he’s never been to the coast.” Sarah’s mom gently pushed her out the door leaving Sarah, blonde and bright, next to her cousin Travis, brown haired and boring. The two ten year olds stood there a few moments before Sarah asked “want to have an adventure?” Wishing with all her might, she looked questioningly into her cousin’s eyes. Travis shrugged and started to pick his nose. “Maybe we could find something cool in the shore. Mom tells me never to go too far, but adventure is all about taking risks, right?”

One foggy afternoon Bruce, Billy, and Joe went to the Camp Gold Lake to spend the summer. Billy heard about the rumors of a giant monster that haunts the forest and lake. Billy told the other two about it but Bruce said, “There isn’t no monster it’s just folktale to keep people from renting the log cabin”. Bruce and Joe finally convinced Billy to go to the camp, when getting ready to leave there was a news story about the missing girl that has been missing for 3 months. The news report said, “The long search for Samantha is finally over after police found her body in Camp Gold’s forest.” Billy had that bad feeling again, but he didn’t want to tell the others because they would have made fun of him.
