INTRODUCTION
This literature review will analyze the rates of assaults on criminal justice practitioners, both lethal and non-lethal. For the purposes of this literature review criminal justice practitioner is defined as any law enforcement officer, corrections officer, probation officer, parole officer, and bailiff. The data will data will develop a trend through this period and identify patterns in an effort to develop an indication of what is in store in terms of violence in the criminal justice workplace. Previous research has studied the gender and characteristics of the criminal justice practitioner, victimization rates, causes of the assaults, and situation surrounding the event, time of day, day of the week, etc. Analysis of these studies, as well as potential factors that may cause the violence, will give us better insight into the problem of the use of violence against these practitioners by the public. The findings will likely suggest that violence against criminal justice practitioners is trending higher, however fatalities are trending lower. This may be the result of improved training and equipment or a better attitude towards the criminal justice practitioners by the public. Most likely, it is a combination of both.

Not all decisions are directed through the lack of resources. There are times when political considerations or aspirations take the forefront of the criminal justice system. For instance, when an administrator of the police decides to do a crackdown on what are known as, public order crimes due to complaints from the citizens. Employees of the criminal justice system also make decisions based on what their own personal morality or values dictate. It is through these particular decisions that may make the criminal justice system look unjust in the eyes of some observers as fair in the eyes of others. It all depends on their individual perspectives besides their own individual circumstances.
Criminal justice practitioners are necessary for a civilized society. Without those who form boundaries to our freedom, and the ones that reinforce those laws, our community would be chaos. Some of the main social issues our society faces are drug abuse, gang violence, child abuse, and terrorism. The criminal justice practitioners face these types of issues daily. These professionals must act on the morals and laws stated by society rather than their own opinions, sometimes facing hard decisions. The criminal justice field is always active and busy, dealing with countless amount of criminal activity throughout the country.
The purpose of the paper is to show how the criminal justice system is trying to reduce officer and offender assaults in Texas Corrections facilities. In the Texas Corrections facilities, also known as Texas Department of Criminal Justice, defines the “Use of Force” as a physically controlling measure taken during a confrontational situation to make an offender do something involuntary. This may include physical contact by an officer with an offender in order to control movements, a situation when an offender physically resists the application of restraints, chemical agents are discharged, batons or other instruments make contact with an offender in an effort to restore or preserve order, and even when offensive or
Understanding the criminal behavior system and crime typologies that the book demonstrates; it is kind of hard to distinguish what type of serial killer Robert Durst is. Judging from the book examples of different type of serial killers, I would have to say Robert Durst is a hybrid serial killer. While some of his actions from the video series, “The Jinx”, lead me to feel as if he was an expedience killer who wants to protect themselves from a perceived threat as the book states. Some of Durst’s actions also lead me to believe he was a mission killer, who had a vision for killing someone. None of his victims seemed as if they were some random act of murder. I feel as if he had a mission to kill all of them.; one reason making me suspect

The criminal justice system has become an ad hoc medical and social service delivery institution with more than eight million offenders under correctional control. Offenders have more physical, substance-abuse disorders, social and psychological deficits than the general population. According to Estelle versus Gamble, correctional institutions are required to provide reasonable care for all offenders who are incarcerated. Other issues such as psychological and social services have become a burden. A recent survey of prison administrators sheds light on the capacity of offenders that needed medical, psychological, and social services for offenders. The survey also dissected the analysis of the organizational factors that may affect whether an
Terrorism has never been in the States; only in third world countries. Since 9/11-2001 is has been a reality and ongoing nightmare and hit close to home. The attack on the World Trade Centers in New York was a wakeup call. United States has been on high alert ever since, waiting for the next possible Terrorists attack. This paper will explain why terrorism is a law enforcement concern as well as how terrorism is considered a crime. At last the paper will state some recommendations that the American Criminal Justice should do, to better prepare for future crimes.
As we all know – there are tons of social issues within the entire world that Criminal Justice Practitioners deal with, most likely, on a daily basis. One of the many social issues I’ve chosen is Prison Overcrowding.
The goals and objectives of the federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies differ in what they can each handle. As a whole, they have the objective to protect and serve the public, but separately, each branch, federal, state, and local handles their own sections of the government services. For example, the federal law enforcement agencies have goals and objectives that involves the protecting of our border, making sure that we are enforcing customs regulations, as well as upholding immigration laws. The state law enforcement goals and objectives are lie with highway patrol, investigations, and emergencies that extend beyond the control and power of local law enforcement agencies (2008, Matrix Group). Whereas, the local law
According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics there are approximately 765,000 full time local and state law enforcement officers employed in the United States (Bureau of Justice Statistics, 2011). These officers respond to various calls during a tour of duty. According to the National Incident Based Reporting System, (NIBRS), that records 71 separate crimes that officers respond to, officers reported 4,759,438 incidents in 2014. This number was a result of only 35.2% of all agencies reporting (FBI, 2014). These officers that responded to calls for service ran the risk of being assaulted during the course of their response. According to the FBI report on Law Enforcement Officers Killed or Assaulted in 2014 there were 48,315 officers assaulted during the reporting year. Of that number 28.3% of the officers were injured (FBI, Law Enforcement Officers Killed or Assaulted 2014). These injuries not only take a toll on the officer in the form of physical injury and economic cost to the officer, but there is a psychological cost as well. A number of Criminal Justice Personnel not included in that number is Correctional Personnel. According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics there are 427,790 persons employed in State correctional or local confinement facilities. Of this number 23,271 employees suffered from a work related illness or injury (Bureau of Labor Statistics 2015). Many of these officers will

Gathering data and researching material is very important within the criminal justice system. No matter what profession one may have within the judicial system, researching information is something that has to be done at one time or another. Within this paper I plan on discussing what I’ve learned about research for criminal justice and its criteria. Emphases of this paper are to give some informational data on police officers and why they choose protecting the community a profession.
a. Imagine asking 100 strangers to describe a criminal. Predict whether those descriptions would be likely to focus on street criminals, or the variety of topics covered in this video.
The effects of crime on victim can have a mixed feeling about making a victim impact statement. They may want to tell the judge or parole hearing officer how the crime affected their life and yet they may be anxious because you don't know how to prepare an impact statement or you don't want to bring back bad memories by describing how the crime has hurt you. The victim impact statements may include descriptions of:
