There will always be a fight for justice, and where there is crime there are those who must solve them. I wish to pursue a career in the criminal justice industry, mainly working as a forensic science criminalist. Those who use scientific logic and evidence found at the scene of the crime to solve the case, The heroes who don’t wear the labcoats instead of the black and blues. Heroes like these need certain skills, interests, and values that make them an official criminalist.

This has to be one of my favorite assignments since becoming a student at Kaplan. I have been interested in the Criminal Justice since I was a small child. I come from a long line of military, however, my passion has always been Criminal Law. I remember even as a young girl in the 2nd grand, I had dreams and aspirations of becoming a lawyer. These crimes have been deemed particularly dangerous to society because they compromise the health, well being, privacy and protection of the people of any given jurisdiction. When these crimes are committed or a person or group is accused of such acts, legal representation is the next logical step to preserve the institution of justice, protect innocent parties, and prevent the innocent among the accused from prosecution. This is why it is important to find the right lawyer. Criminal defense in the form of an experienced attorney is critical to aligning evidence, witnesses, and countering the prosecutions arguments for the sake of their client's defense, case dismissal, acquittal, lessened sentencing or rehabilitation.

As society moves into an era where issues start to become a matter of publicity and law reforms, the public starts to become more informed and aware of the differences between having a court-appointed defense attorney versus a hired private defense attorney. The acknowledgment of this issue was mentioned above, because of high rates of minority incarcerations, researchers started to consider the differences between appointed and private defense.

The criminal justice system is forever adjusting to protect and serve a changing society. The paper evaluates, identifies and assesses recent future and current trends affecting the criminal justice system. Lastly, it defines the values of the system in a changing society.

All training required for judges, public defenders and prosecutors require a law degree and membership in The American Bar Association in which the state they practice law in. The American Bar Association set professional standards for conduct and certification for lawyers starting in the 19th century (Gufaston& McClellon, 2012). A new model code of professional responsibility has mandated conduction of the procedures of trials that must conform to the core requirements of law set with specific standards (Pollock, 2014). For this very reason of non reliability in regards to set training standards of particular types of lawyers and established practice, Burger (1973) contended that how lawyers trained in and after law school, will ultimately dictate their proficiencies as counsel in our adversary criminal justice system. This will eventually decide the virtue and essence of our justice within the system of courts. With hardly any if not non existent live training in the court system, no required or developed standard is set strictly for attorneys’ and judges to complete; reassuring individual rights of citizens are upheld to the highest standards during the legal process, proving these law practitioners’ are truly proficient in conducting their vital positions as expected in the Constitutional performance of protecting people’s rights (Burger, 1973). In the future, i hope to be a felony lawyer. This occupation interests me because i get to help the world by helping innocent and fighting against the guilty. I get to be in the law industry, which is a good area of jobs. One of the most famous lawyer ever is Johnnie Cochran. He defended O.j Simpson in the murder trial with the victims being his wife, and friend. O.j was found innocent at the Los Angeles County Superior Court.

That is why I chose to pursue the criminal defense field. Even though it will be a long process of paper work, court appearances, heartaches and headaches, after it all I will have the pleasure of knowing I was able to make a difference in somebody else’s life. I am a rising sophomore with dual major in political science and criminal justice and criminology, currently with an interest in pre-law. I hope to study the intersection of policy and the criminal justice system with a lens of social justice and a focus on the ways that institutional discrimination has shaped the our nation and our world. Through my studies in these areas, I hope to gain a firm and confident grasp on the way that both domestic and foreign politics unfold, how the American criminal justice system contributes or deflects from social justice, and how the intersection of those two fields can be applied in tandem to achieve a more just social order.
