The first four paragraphs of the article state The National People’s Congress’, ‘strong dissatisfaction’ with, ‘U.S. lawmakers’. This reveals the Chinese government’s concern about the Dalai Lama’s Western popularity interfering with the issue of Tibetan independence.
The Dalai Lama is arguably the most recognisable religious leader in the world. He is a Nobel Peace Prize winner and adherent to the pacifism of Ghandi. He is much revered by Western politicians and academic institutions for his compassionate stance on human rights and the environment.
Because of the Dalai Lama’s celebrity, many aspects of Buddhism are embraced by the West, such as meditation and in therapeutic counselling. Also, there is a thriving industry in Buddhist related

However, to Tibetans religion and politics are inextricably linked and resent China’s occupation. In stalemate, both the Dalai Lama and Chinese claim to want democracy in Tibet but Tibetans do not see themselves as Chinese and the Chinese government believes Tibetan autonomy is unfeasible.
In order to disrupt Tibetan traditions Chinese authorities have interfered with the Tibetan process of selecting a new Panchen Lama (second in importance to the Dalai Lama). It is traditional for the current Dalai Lama to seek the next Panchen Lama, who in turn will seek the next Dalai Lama. The Chinese government ignored the Dalai Lama’s choice and his whereabouts are unknown to Tibetans. Although the Chinese have provided a stand-in of their own, it is clear that Tibetans will reject them, leaving the future of selecting the 15th Dalai Lama in turmoil and of great distress to Tibetans.
Overall, the Chinese view the Dalai Lama’s activities as criminal and suggests that any country dealing with him is guilty by association. China also makes a veiled threat that China-U.S. relations could suffer as a consequence of dealing with the Dalai
The Tibetan Government had not simply to appoint a successor, but to discover the child in whom the Buddha of Compassion would incarnate, the child need not have been born just at the death of His precursor, or even very soon thereafter when the thirteenth Dalai Lama died in 1935. As before, there would be signs of where to search. For example, when the Thirteenth Dalai Lama’s body was laid in a temple facing south, His head turned to the east twice, and to the east of his temple a great fungus appeared on the east side of a pillar of well-seasoned wood. The Regent of Tibet went to the sacred lake of Lhamoe Lhatso, where Tibetans have seen visions of the future. There he saw, among other things, a monastery with roofs of green jade and gold and a house with turquoise tiles. A detailed description of the entire vision was written down and kept a strict secret.
“In 1949 35,00 Chinese troops invaded Tibet.”This was put into detail in an article by Hisyam Takiudin. The Chinese raped, tortured, and murdered one fifth of the Tibetan population, most in work camps and during arbitrary. As a result,47 million people in all have died during these tragic times. The brutality was so bad that the parents with children were forced to bury their children alive when they disobeyed. These crimes have lasted 49 years! Evidently, these crimes are still being committed! In Tibet today there is still no freedom of speech, religion, and arbitrary detainment still continues. As Tibetans are being slaughtered,we’re sitting here doing
The Dalai Lama has also challenged adherents to accept the fate that is given to them and make the greatest use of their reincarnated form. As a young child he was unable to reject the position of ‘Dalai Lama’ however he has managed to utilise this position to the best advantage and has bettered the world through this. He has pushed for the bettering of the world for both religious and secular societies. His messages of peace, tolerance and the renunciation of the desires of anger and revenge have resonated with people globally.
The Dalai Lama is the Tibetans’ political and spiritual leader. He is the most important leader in Tibet. The Dalai Lama is a monk of the Tibetan Buddhism. The 14th and current Dalai Lama is Tenzin Gyatso. Tenzin Gyatso was born Lhamo Thondup on July 6, 1935, in Taktser, China. He has been a monk all his life.
In keeping with the historic Chinese conviction(never actually formalized) that Tibet was at the very least a vassal state of China, the Nationalist government took the official stated view that Tibet was an integral part of the Republic of China (Xu 1063). Therefore, we deferred to the Nationalist point of view when considering Tibet’s legal status in the 1940s. The fact that the KMT believed Tibet to be part of China would be a factor in the US Tibet policy as long as the KMT remained in power in mainland China ( Norbu 264). In fact, if the KMT somehow managed to hold on to power in China in the Civil War against the Communists, the US would have declined to support Tibetan independence. However, by 1948 the KMT’s defeat was imminent and the US Ambassador in India recognized the possibility that if the “Communists succeed in controlling all of China…we should be prepared to treat Tibet as independent to all intents and purposes” (Knaus 55). At this early stage, even with such statements bringing up the issue of recognizing Tibetan independence, the US continued to make an effort to avoid alienating Chiang Kai-shek and the KMT (Roberts 2).

In 1912, after the fall of the Qing Dynasty, the Dalai Lama returned to Tibet form India. The Dalai Lama banished the Chinese troops for the land. A year later the Dalai Lama made a public announcement that the relationship between the Chinese Emperor and Tibet was suppose to be a patron and priest relationship but their actual relationship was one of subordination one to another. The Dalai Lama states, “We are a small, religious, and independent nation,” meaning that above all else they were a independent nation. The Dalai Lama is, “the spiritual head of Tibetan Buddhism and, until the establishment of Chinese communist rule, the spiritual and temporal ruler of Tibet.” According to Memmi’s definition of colony, Tibet is considered a colony.
Unlike many other children in China, I received a Buddhist upbringing, and spent altogether 8 months in Tibet studying traditional Tibetan Buddhism at the age of 12. One thing I learned from this surreal experience is that it’s not enough just to pray and to read the Buddhist scriptures aloud like quite a number of believers do in Mainland, China. I noticed that Lamas (Tibetan monks) would not only practice Buddhism, but also respect and even research on other religions other than Buddhism. Regardless of the stereotypes about its esoteric and even mysterious doctrines, Tibetan Buddhism is very interesting and appealing to learn and is full of vivid stories. The thoughts conveyed and the stories embedded in What the Buddha Taught are practically
the Dalai Lama has remained in exile in India. There has been sympathy for the Tibetan cause but insufficient international, political will to provide practical support, largely because China has enormous military and economic power. The Dalai Lama might have done more However, he did not do so and, instead, apparently speaks according to his principles rather than for political advantage. In spite of his absence, the Dalai Lama retains the devotion of his people and his reputation remains intact.

The Dalai Lama’s political dealings with Communist China and his rule of the exile community exemplify the changed role of the institution of the Dalai Lama.
This quote highlights the essential cooperative relationship between the U.S. and China through both the regional and global scales. With China as the economic powerhouse in the global economy and the U.S. as the world’s policeman, it is clear that both countries hold major powers in the world and their cooperation is important in addressing the global challenges. However, the relationship between U.S. and China is becoming increasingly complex and competitive. The two countries share a lot of common interest in achieving peace and stability around the world, but they often disagree on the process of attaining those goals due to the different perspectives. It’s also important to point out that these two countries are more cooperative outside
In my personal point of view, I consider that The Dalai Lama was another World leader who had an important influence in the humanity.
Tibet is located at the western part of China into the Himalayas with disputed country origin (Crowe 2013). In addition to the central Tibet, it also forms the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) along with Gansu, Qinghai, Sichuan, and Yunnan provinces composed of a total population of approximately 5 million (Crowe 2013). There are also Tibetans living in regions of India composed of different religions and Sikkim, Bhutan, and Nepal (Crowe 2013). The relationship between Tibet and China has drawn significant attention worldwide as each state view themselves as the superior state. In Tibetans’ perspective, they are the “agents of their own civilizing project with regard to the spiritual life of the Mongols.”
He is right below the Dalai Lama’s position in Tibetan Buddhism. He also plays a key role in selecting the next Dalai Lama and in some of the same political areas the Dalai Lama handles. The Panchen Lama is chosen by dreams, omens, and the Dalai Lama’s approval. The 11th Panchen Lama, currently Gyaincain Norbu, was not selected under these terms. When Gedhun Choekyi Nyima was selected as the true 11th Panchen Lama, the Chinese chose to select out of a golden urn. Three to five names were placed in this urn, and from them Gyaincain Norbu’s name was drawn. Almost immediately, the Dalai Lama rejected this method and choice of Panchen Lama. On the 17th of May, 1995, the Chinese abducted Gedhun Choekyi Nyima, the Dalai Lama’s choice, and has been missing for more than 20 years. The Chinese government has stated that Gedhun is living a normal life, but they have not provided his
