Defining Harassment and Bullying Bullying is unwanted aggressive behavior directed towards the victim that in turn makes the bully feel powerful. According the website Stopbullying.gov, “Kids who bully use their power—such as physical strength, access to embarrassing information, or popularity—to control or harm others.”. In order for this kind of behavior to be considered bullying it needs to be a repetitive action that is done. The bully usually is a person that the victim knows and has had a relationship with beforehand. There are three different types of bullying: verbal bullying, social bullying and physical bullying. Digital pile on is when a person encourages other people online who the victim may or may not know. An example of a digital pile on if someone were harassing someone else on the victim's Facebook page and told made other people join in on the harassing towards this person. Online harassment is when someone receives threatening messages from someone or if someone sends inappropriate messages of the victim to other people. An example of online harassment is if someone were to receive death threats for an anonymous person on the internet. Another example of online harassment would be if the victim sent a naked picture of themselves to a person the victim was in a relationship with and the individual receiving the naked photo sends it to other people that the victim did not permit. Outing is when the person finds out personal info on the victim and puts online without the victim's consent. An example of outing is when if a famous person was streaming on a social media platform and someone posts the famous person’s address in the live chat. Another example of outing is if someone knew the victim’s phone number and put it on a comment under a Youtube video or a social media
