Do I have a culture? If I do how would I define its identity? Well if you're like me you’ve been wondering that. Culture is much more than your inheritance. It also has to do with your surroundings from how and where you grow up to the peers that is around you now. I was born into a family with one parent my mom and four sisters. Where my mom would have to work two jobs just to feed us and keep a roof over our head. Where I grow up in Milwaukee was a big influence on my values and beliefs. Whether it was kids I hanged around with or the school I went to Monday to Friday or the food my mom would cook for us every night. Inside and out your cultural can impact and shape you as a person. Growing up as a Native American and black boy I was a part of many stereotypes that I had to face not only at school but also at home. By people who wasn’t raised like I was. After growing up as a black boy and going to an all indian school the first thing I was accused of was “have you been to jail yet?” It didn’t matter where I was or who I was surrounded by It Like a joke about my race was never far away. We mostly are loving and at one with the world and mother nature. We are more peaceful and calm than violent. We are also friendly. That is why peers has had a major influence on my cultural identity Many factors can explain your cultural identity. Like the people you surround yourself with.
