A muddled man, grieved with a broken heart, whose grief turned into anger, deteriorating his health, strength, and happiness. Lying down touching vigilantly his beloved daughter's desiccated bloodstain, hoping for God's refortification, but all that he glimpsed was zilch, merely a pitch-black curtain laid before his eyes. OOH what a disastrous day! Even though he had the littlest of hope, God did not forsake him. Every time he blubbered, God wept with him, all times he moaned, God had listened and answered him, but in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them (2 Corinthians 4:4). One of the essentially vital themes referenced in The Shack is love. To commence, it is imperative to acknowledge that the delineation of love is God, and the definition of God is love. In the bible, the authentic definition of love is in 1Chorinthians 13:4-7 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. These are all the depictions of God. In The Shack, Mack was in deepest of his pain where there was no hope, yet, for God's unconditional love, God so much cared to write Mack a note. “Isn't this book fictional? Then it is not quite factual or genuine” one would articulate. The fact that this book is fictional is unquestionably true; however, it is fallacious that God cannot send a note in real world. Nowadays, numerous of humans see God in person, vision, dream...etc. Knowingly, it does not have to be in the form of a …show more content…
First characteristic of Love is that love is patient. In the Shack, God was exceedingly patient to encounter Mack after FOUR years of Missy's homicide. This is not because God had forsaken him, or He did not want to meet him. Conversely, God was tremendously keyed up for that day, yet God chose the right timing for Mack. Even in reality, if for instance, one asked God for a car, God deeply desires to open that door ahead of them; however, God is patient, He chooses the precise and elite timing for one's sake. Second characteristic of Love is that Love is kind. In the shack, God was so kind to Mack, even though Mack had judged him erroneously. To prove this, God breathes life into the gloomiest and deadly situations in our life. For instance, if a beloved family member deceased, through this other family members may come to know him. That does not mean that God does evil to accomplish His will, yet He out of those situations performs a miracle. Lastly yet most importantly, Love does not rejoice evil or in other words does not do evil for good, yet it is truth, it changes monotonous situations to luminous
“Across that threshold I had been afraid to cross, things suddenly seemed so very simple. There was but a single vision, God, who was all in all; there was but one will that directed all things, God's will. I had only to see it, to discern it in every circumstance in which I found myself, and let myself be ruled by it. God is in all things, sustains all things, directs all things. To discern this in every situation and circumstance, to see His will in all things, was to accept each circumstance and situation and let oneself be borne along in perfect confidence and trust. Nothing could separate me from Him, because He was in all things. No danger could threaten me; no fear could shake me, except the fear of losing sight of Him.” This quote shows a lot of what father had been through in the labor
Love’s never easy, especially as a Christen. They’re always told to love others, and to treat them kindly, but when they actually do feel that deep connection with someone other than God, it can be kind of perplexing. When the author says, “ Why is one kind of love any different? What if he has no earthly idea what love is? What if he was just afraid, if the truth was no more than this, and if what to pray for was not even love but simple courage, to meet both her eyes as she says it and trust his heart?” (4) he illustrates Lane coming to the realization that he shouldn’t be scared of this earthly love, and to stay with Sherri because he loves her.
Throughout these chapters we see many portrayals of God’s character: The destroyer, the ever-judging, a God with expectations, a God that grieves, feels pain, repents, a God that demands justice; a self-evaluating, ruling and omnipotent God whom also passes on saving grace to the deserving.
As she kept on weeping she repeated these word a couple of times ?I want to go to the ball, I wish my parents were here.? A pure tear drop fell on the page of the bible and it turn to Philippians 4:13. She heard a voice say ?say this and your wish will become true, since you have been so faithful.? ?I can do all things through Christ who strengthen me.?
Later in the night he cried; his aunt told his uncle that he was crying because of the Holy Ghost in his life; when instead he was crying because he questioned if God existed or not for he did not come for him when he was on the bench with the other children. He didn’t believe there was a Jesus anymore.
Another example is when Linda moves to Boston, she has mixed feelings of joining the church’s worship ceremony. She asks herself: “should they preach from their text, ‘Proclaim liberty to the captive, and the opening of prison doors to them that are bound’? (Isaiah 61.1) or will they preach from my text, ‘ Do unto others as ye would they should do unto you’? (Mathew 7.12)” (1827). Linda feels lost and not sure what to do. She asks God to forgive her and relief herself saying: “the scripture says ‘ Oppression makes even a wise man mad’; (Ecclesiasters)” (1827). It looks like Linda was a good believer but she was not sure how to act in such a contradicting world.
God is lying there begging for help. —The Execution of God,
He allowed me to see after being blind for so many years. In a way, He completed me. I still struggle with my relationship, but heck whose relationship is perfect? Janie experienced a similar feeling when she met Tea Cake. He did not entertain or pacify her. He opened her mind to let her dreams come out. He encouraged her. She truly fell in love. She did not become complacent to another man or to her own fears. I believe that is what is a key factor in making a relationship healthy. Being able to push and encourage thoughts and goals. In times when I am insecure and unsure of myself, God puts me right back on my feet. It is easy to give up and become complacent again, but He is right next to me encouraging me to be better. Gods eyes are watching me. When Joe dies she is freed, “Besides she liked being lonesome for a change.” (90) She was no longer confined. Just how I was confined by my peer’s judgement. Everyone told her that she needs a man and she can’t be lonely, but she ignored them. Janie’s attitude in life excites me. In the beginning of the book when she comes back walking into town she is ridiculed and laughed at. The women are hollering “What she doin come back in dem overhalls? Where’s her dress?” (2) Janie pays no mind.
Mack found this very strange, seeing as how he hadn’t seen his father since he was thirteen, and Papa had been the name that his wife had used when referring to God. He knew that this was either a cruel joke, or he had just received a letter from god. Mack goes to the Shack without telling anyone except his best friend. When he arrives, he doesn’t find anyone there. Just as he’s about to leave, something happens, and the unclean old shack turns into a beautiful log cabin. He goes inside and is greeted by three people. The first one calls herself Elouisa, but is called papa throughout the rest of the book. He then meets Jesus, and lastly he meets Sarayu. These three people represent the Holy Trinity, The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit. Mack spends the weekend with the three and learns so much about them, as well as about himself.
The first time I read the novel “The Shack,” I immediately empathized with the main character. The story is about a little girl who was abducted from a camping site and found murdered. Its main story line follows the emotional roller coaster of her father, Mack. Not to give the entire story away, I will not discuss exactly what Mack experienced. However, losing his daughter filled him with so much pain and anger. Mack could not understand how this could happen, why this would happen to his daughter. Ultimately he struggles with God, wanting to know why God would let his daughter be taken away in such a brutal murder. I have faced struggles and sadness in my life that made me cry out to God asking,
Young illustrates deep conversations between Mack and “Papa” throughout the weekend. Young portrays “Papa’s” words as Truth as written in the Bible from God. “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work” (II Timothy 3:16,17). The emotional power of The Shack focuses on the encounter between man
Agathon is a poet. He claims in order to talk about Love; you have to describe his qualities. There are 3 qualities that Love have, beauty, youth, and goodness page 180 line 196a- 196b. He then gives details that Love makes humans moral by giving them 4 cardinals virtues. Above line 196c Agathon stated " Love is neither the cause nor victim of any injustice; he does no wrong to gods or men, nor they to him.
Ch. 1: What sometimes happens to people when the illusion is shattered and reality is revealed? Can you give an example from your own or a friend’s experience?
The New Testament highlights resurrection and living a life of faith and purity. Those who commit themselves to God and are in union with the Lord work towards God’s grace and a divine fate. However, for those who live a life of sin and mock God, he turns his back to leave them to lead their lives in sin and ultimately
1 Lord, you are the God who saves me; day and night I cry out to you. 2 May my prayer come before you; turn your ear to my cry. 3 I am overwhelmed with troubles and my life draws near to death. 4 I am counted among those who go down to the pit; I am like one without strength. 5 I am set apart with the dead, like the slain who lie in the grave, whom you remember no more, who are cut off from your care. 6 You have put me in the lowest pit, in the darkest depths. 7 Your wrath lies heavily on me; you have overwhelmed me with all your waves. 8 You have taken from me my closest friends and have made me repulsive to them. I am confined and cannot escape; 9 my eyes are dim with grief. I call to you, Lord, every day; I spread out my hands to you. 10 Do you show your wonders to the dead? Do their spirits rise up and praise you? 11 Is your love declared in the grave, your faithfulness in Destruction? 12 Are your wonders known in the place of darkness, or your righteous deeds in the land of oblivion? 13 But I cry to you for help, Lord; in the morning my prayer comes before you. 14 Why, Lord, do you reject me and hide your
