“Pets are humanizing. They remind us we have an obligation and responsibility to preserve and nurture and care for all life.” This is a famous quote by the American actor James Cromwell who acted in Star Trek and was the son of John Cromwell. This quote relates to my life when I learned that sometimes pets help us realize that we have a responsibility to this world.
Two years ago on a sweltering summer day, we were just about ready to go. My dad, mom and sister named Celina were all wearing thin summer clothes right as we stood outside the house next to my mom’s car. Yesterday, my mom startled me by informing me that we were going to get a cat. She had explained to us that we were going to go to an animal shelter to go pick one.
“Where are we going?” I questioned.
“Well the adoption center is located somewhere in Simi Valley so the trip might take a while.” replied my mom.
Celina asked, “Well how long will it take?”
My dad answered, “Maybe about 45 minutes or longer.”
As we started to groan and complain, he started the engine and headed down the road as I wondered what it would be have to be responsible for a pet.
After about forty long minutes, we finally took an exit off the freeway and turned right. When we drove over into the parking lot, I noticed that there was a sign with Animal Shelter on it in big blue letters.. As we slowly walked in, we were greeted by one of the staff who was named Rosanna came up to us.
“Hi! Are you here to look at our
Majestic, noble, and brave, this famous iconic wild animal on the planet has captivated the people since the beginning of time. They are most feared by other animals thus, known as the king of the jungle – no other than the lions. Member of the genus Panthera, the lion is one of the big cats in the Felidae family. A lion’s head and body size average about 4.5 to 6.5 feet and tail of about 26 to 40 inches in length. A lion also weighs about 265 up to 420 pounds and a size relative to a 6-foot human. These mammals are also carnivores. Lions have always seen hunting in groups called pride. While lions generally avoid a full-grown elephant, lions still prefer their preys large like the zebras, buffaloes, and giraffes. Poised as the top animal in the ecological pyramid, lions have strong physical qualities, fascinating reputation, and an unfortunate decreasing number of population.
Early October a few years ago I was coming home from my grandma's house. When I walked in the door to my house and saw a strange box. I saw what was inside of the box and immediately was filled with joy and many questions to ask. I’ve always wanted a cat but my mom and dad wouldn’t let me have one in the house. In the drop of a hat I asked my dad where the kitten came from and if it was really ours. He said he found the kitten on the farm without a mother to care for it. Hearing that made put very sad thoughts in my mind. My dad went on telling me that the kitten could die if we didn’t keep it warm, teach it to use the litter box, and make it drink milk from a bottle. It was a long journey of fear and worry as the kitten got sick many times.
We all benefit from the progress of modern science. However, many people do not realize just how society makes great progress in medicine, technology, and many other areas. Most people just accept modern medicine for granted and do not give a second thought about how scientists figured out how to replicate organs, perform a blood transfusion, and even provide insulin for diabetics. Many might wonder how exactly is great progress in medicine made? In our society today, there are too many rules and restrictions and too many corporations looking to make a quick buck on trying every new medicinal idea on human subjects. Since the human body is incredibly complex and we do not completely understand how everything functions together yet, it is considered inhumane to test new products and treatments on people since we do not have a perfect idea of what may happen. Instead of abandoning these projects, we

What are the length scientist will go to discover a new drug or the way a new theory functions? Many scientists have no respect for life, as long as their brings them closer to discovery. Many do follow regulations and look at some animals as a sacrifice for the good of education. But where do we draw the line. Many species are actually very smart and are aware of what is being done to them, but others are born to either be experimented on or eaten by predators. I will briefly discuss the negative and positive on sacrificing animals lives for educational purposes.
A majority of high schools in America have classes which pertain to the study of animals. A countless number of schools have recently added multiple classes such as these. Hurricane High School especially is in need of adding an animal science class. Many students would benefit from this class in several different ways. Not only this, but the school will benefit greatly as well. It is highly recommended that Hurricane High School should offer an animal science class for the 2014-15 school year. This class would benefit the school as a whole by preparing students planning to enter the occupational field dealing with animals, make the school look more impressive, and give students a chance to try new things and possibly find hidden interests
It was only 7:30 AM but she seemed full of enthusiasm, especially since she now knew we were in east Tennessee. “You know that we saved a whole day by driving all night. Now we will have more time to spend in the hills.”
The idea to get a cat was when school started and my mom, who sews at home all day, was lonely without the kids at home with her. She started talking about all our previous kittens and soon we were on board. During this time my mom had to go to Ohio often for her dad and we saw the perfect time to surprise her. Unplanned that Sunday, my dad brought up the idea to go look to see if the surrounding animal shelters had any kittens. The first two we went to didn’t have any cats under the age of 4 which wasn’t our inclination. I quickly googled and found one last place to try on our way home and that is where we found success.
After a long, stressful day at school with a lot of homework to do, I go lay on the couch and rest my eyes for a bit, but only to open my eyes to see the cutest dog in the world jump right next to me. I start to smile as my dog gets closer to my face, about to lick my face to smithereens.
The spray flew up from my front tires, drenching my windshield, and the thought struck me; “I haven’t driven through a puddle in months! “
Animals are a part of many people’s lives, and nowadays many are seen as another family member of the family. Just like people, beloved pets suffer from illnesses, too, so they need doctors to care for them as well. Not only do our common house pets need to be well cared for, but the animals that provide our population with food also need to be healthy, in order to keep the human population healthy. Veterinarians care for many different kinds of animals, and see to many jobs which benefit the human population as well and the animals in our world.
Beasts- Beasts are animal or animal like creatures. Most are extinct animals I brought back for this story, and some I just made up
Growing up, nothing has been more interesting to me than the animal world. Animals vary in size and shape, they adapt to specific environments, and they all have unique relationships with one another. These things fascinate me. I can’t determine when this obsession grew in me but I can remember my four year old self, drawing every animal I can think of, from moose to flamingos. I would watch nature documentaries whenever I could find them on while flipping through the channels on the television. Frogs were most likely the first animal I went hands on with. My grandma, who lives up north, lives right off a lake and has a pond on her property. In this pond were countless frogs of different variety. The most common were bullfrogs (Rana catesbeiana), but occasionally there were green frogs (Rana clamitans) too.
A few years ago, my Mom and I went to a fall exotic animal auction, which took place over by Pierz. It was mid October so the mornings had a bite to them and the days were cool. We woke up at 6:00 in the morning so we could get our rabbits, which we were bringing to the auction to sell, settled in their cages. We had filled each cage with hay the night before so they would be warm for the ride there and for the time they’d be stuck sitting in their cages. After we loaded them up, we headed to the auction.
I was a month into summer break, the sun was radiating and the garden was bursting with life. The sky was bright blue, and clouds are completely erased from the sky. The warmth wrapped around my skin. I sat outside on the wooden porch right outside my house. The sky was sprayed painted with colors of purple, pink and orange. I was sitting on a chair with a metal structure and a faded out elastic seat and backrest. The door entering into the house is a glass sliding door with around the edges of the glass. And the handle looks like a gold that started to rust.
