The Game Developers Conference is held every year in San Francisco, with its dates being set for March 19th to the 23rd of 2018. This conference is the largest and most important conference for those in the Gaming Industry, and also it is known for its exceedingly high pass prices. The GDC was first held in April of 1988, about 29 years ago. This first meeting consisted of 25 people in one room discussing the future of computer gaming and learning from each other. Each year after the first, the attendance numbers drastically grew and continue to this day.
Almost everyone in the industry, and those who aspire to join it, have a common dream of one day either attending the conference or being featured at it as a developer. It is a footstep …show more content…

The first off would be the various scholarships that are offered through the GDC. Several different groups have been awarded 25 all access badges for their scholarships, a few of these would be: Girls Make Games, Dames Making Games, The Global Game Jam, and I Need Diverse Games. These groups are seeing it through to help students see that attending the GDC is not just a dream, but it can easily become a reality. The Game Developers Conference gives students the opportunity to work for them in order to attend the conference. These students would work as Conference Associates, working for 25 hours during the show and the rest of the time they are able to enjoy the show freely as an attendee. Besides free entree to the show, they are also payed to work. These students would be responsible for an array of jobs including but not limited to: Badge scanning, bag checking, conference session monitoring, and helping maintain the order of the conference and assisting attendees.
Upon leaving the student world and joining the industry, it is important to still attend the conference. At this point in your career, you will benefit the same way a student would, but with far more understanding and with greater benefits at hand. You will have the opportunity to learn from others and collaborate with other developers. Along with this you will be able to meet prospective team members and students that are either
