During the early school years, students must begin to develop good work habits including preparing for schoolwork, organizing time and effort, and developing effective study skills. As students continue into middle school and high school their success depends, to a large degree, on refining and sustaining these work habits. Time management, organizational skills, and efficient study skills become especially important by this stage. Students who are able to develop and maintain good work habits are in a position to succeed – to learn what needs to be learned, and to become confident students.
Getting started on assignments in school and at home requires students to engage their attentional abilities. Students must be alert to the task at

The ability to manage one’s effort is closely linked to academic productivity and success.
A strong capacity for work enables students to delay gratification and to persevere through tasks that take considerable energy. It also helps them sustain their effort when information is worthy of attention, even though not immediately exciting, such as when studying a chapter they will be tested on the next day, or reading the instructions for a science experiment.
Developing good organizational behaviors can play a key role in efficient school performance. School is much easier for students who know how to organize themselves, their materials, and their work space. Having effective organizational tactics will continue to be a valuable asset throughout a student's education and career.
Being ready to learn often means being prepared for the next activity, having to shift gears from one task to another, and having all the necessary materials on hand. In order to develop this aspect of learning readiness, students must engage their attentional abilities (especially that of previewing), as well as their memory skills.
Through previewing, a student is able to look ahead and be prepared to deal with upcoming circumstances, challenges, and academic tasks. For example, previewing helps students prepare for a test, get ready for an upcoming class, and smoothly transition from one activity to the next. In addition, students who preview are able to determine which

Carol S. Dweck, a professor of psychology, in her article, “Even Geniuses Work Hard,” focuses on, describing how to develop a “growth mindset” for academic learning. Dweck implies that “students with a growth mindset [view] challenging work as an opportunity to learn and grow” (16). She also reports having that has “seen students with a growth mindset meet difficult problems, ones [in fact] they could not solve yet” (16) with optimism and excitement. According to Dweck, having “meaningful work [can] promote learning in the immediate situation” (18). Students with growth mindsets have “a love of learning, and [are resilient] in the face of obstacles” (18). Dweck makes the point that doing homework is an important way to support learning, it
School can be a struggle for many students. It can also be an obstacle that is difficult to overcome. There are many characteristics to possess in order to work efficiently. Many highly effective students are organized, self motivated, and have good time management; these are habits that could help me become a more successful student.

Throughout my time at Chelan High School, I faced many challenges when it came to my homework and it took me nearly my whole high school career to realize how to fix it. The problem was how unmotivated and lazy I was when it came to have to complete my homework. Looking back at it now it seems that the solution was so simple, and it is frustrating that it took me so long to be able to self-motivate myself. It turns out that this responsibility was a habit of mind. This habit of mine helped me very effectively and completely changed how I went about doing all my school work and studying.
It Is important that people who work with children are aware how to protect themselves against incidents of alleged abuse or inappropriate working practices.

3. Students also learn to plan their work and work their plan. This means being able to work independently and be able to prioritize and plan out each task assigned and get it done in a timely manner.
I believe in setting a schedule and a goal for a certain amount of time helps you efficiently accomplish all of your tasks. In my opinion, being organized and following discipline helps advance your achievements in school.
One very important part of growing up is learning to manage your time better. A lot of the time in high-school, you’re given multiple assignments from multiple teachers. It is your responsibility to make sure that things get done in a timely fashion. It is also important to not spend too much time doing one thing. It is also better to make sure that you do things when
School is hard at point as it is, especially as a Junior in high school and up. With work on the side is a very difficult and stressful situation. Staying at work real late or even until closing will make the students tired for the next day. They will not get enough sleep for school. Although the most part of this topic actually interferes most with the students’ school, it can still affect the students work responsibilities. While at work the students will be so lost on how they are going to get their school work done or how they are going to make time to study for a big test that means a lot to their grade. ”I already go to school for eight hours, but I also have to go to work every day, don’t get home until about 11 on work nights, and then I have to eat dinner and shower, so I don’t even start my homework until around midnight.
Homework can become more closely monitored to assure that the work being assigned to students is useful and engaging. Parents and students are unhappy with homework assigned as busy work which offers little depth and instead just consumes the student’s time (Melvin). If the High School could keep a closer eye on what teachers are assigning students, this would help to alleviate students who are stuck performing monotonous tasks night after night that do not contribute to their overall educational experience. To elaborate on this, different forms of homework impact certain students differently and good teachers will be able to deliver educational value through different types of work. (Terada). Teachers who always assign only a single type of homework will inevitably be unable to engage their entire class. In order to fully get everyone to become involved and engaged in the work allotted, the school system should make sure that the homework teachers assign to students is constantly
During my junior year of high school, I worked for a company called HMS Host at my local airport. That is where I created my work ethic. I know that I am a hard worker and when I am told to do a job, I try to do it right. I remember this one time I was asked by my manager to stay a couple hours more because they were short staffed for the afternoon. I just finished my 10 hour shift and they wanted me for at least 4 more hours and I agreed. I knew I needed the money to help pay bills. I ended up staying for 6 hours because we were so busy but I still worked those hours with the same amount of energy as the morning. I believe that hard work gets you places and I push myself to be a hard
One of the key factors that leads to success is education. Who could ever imagine that the amount of effort put in school affects grades, test scores, and college admissions? In the process of learning, there are responsibilities that the student must adhere to. The late-work policy should remain a rule because the quality of the assignment will be better due to the students having more time to complete it.
Upon reviewing the “Best Strategies for success in school” I realize that I now apply many ideas I use to ignore to my school approach such as getting to know my instructors, breaking down projects into more manageable tasks to avoid procrastination, and staying healthy. All the strategies listed are important but the three key strategies that will remain with me the longest throughout my academic career will be to getting help with difficult class work early, keeping most
