Development Of Research Questions

Decent Essays

Development of Research Questions Conducting research and understanding research is now an expectation for nurses. A vital part of the conduction and consideration of research is relevant questions. Asking a question is the single most essential element for formulating evidenced based practice (EBP) (Davies, 2011). Developing a question that can be answered is often a challenge of researcher who formulates EBP. The purpose of this assignment is to successfully develop a relevant and pertinent research question, identifying variables and provide research elements that would prove valuable to answering the question. Post Operative Care of Diagnostic Cardiac Catheterization Patients Cardiac catheterization are performed in the United States over …show more content…

These questions are designed to address this concern? How long have the potential researcher been exposed to this type of work? Do other nurses have any interest in assisting in this type of research? How would this study need to be presented to encourage physicians and quality management staff to allow reduced bed rest times to be implemented? Would patients have to consent to reduced amounts of bed rest? Could a template be developed to use across the hospital …show more content…

My proposed PICOT question is: P: normal post cardiac catheterization patients I: extended bed rest C: shortened bed rest times O:development of site complications. In the post cardiac and vascular intervention patients who have manual sheath removal is extended bed rest more effective in preventing site re-bleeding and hematoma than the evidenced based recommendations of two hours (Gilliam, 2015)? A variable, the building block of quantitative studies, is a something that varies or causes a variation of results ( ). Researcher should identify variables that could impact the results of their research Variable to this PICO question is early ambulation safe after any means of sealing the femoral artery. This question changes the dependent variable of manual sheath removal to a independent variable all acceptable artery closures, including angioseal, clamps and perclose devices. The final step in developing a relevant research question is assessing the availability of research of the chosen
