Social scientist find it attractive to accept biological explanation concerning differences because, first biological explanations have the ring of “true” science to them: Because their theories are based on “objective scientific facts,” the arguments of natural scientists are extraordinary persuasive (Kimmel 20). The second biological explanations seem to accord with our own observations: Women and men seem too different to us most of the time (Kimmel 20). For example, women are more emotional therefore they seem to love chick flicks because of the meanings and actions of love, meanwhile men are more aggressive so they prefer to watch action movies. Lastly the third biological explanation would be that there’s also a certain conceptual tininess to biological explanations, because the social arrangements between women and men seem to stem directly and inevitably from the differences between us (Kimmel 20).

Human development will continue to accumulate from the time we are conceived until the day we die. During our lifespan we each change neurologically, structurally, and physiologically, and we each develop at our own pace. Our recent lab, Spring Olympics, tracked physical competency between myself and Jake Chastain. The results are evidentiary of our developmental differences. Herein, we will consider the shuttle run, heavy throw, rope jump, birdie bash, and balance events with respect to how mine and my partners distinct development differences contributed to our competition results.

In infancy and toddlerhood, individuals’ development are in the sensorimotor stage of development. They learn and respond to things by utilizing their senses, or seeing, hearing, touching, tasting, and feeling. Developing motor skills and sensory abilities are also important at this stage of development. This is also a crucial time when the bonds formed between the children and their primary caregivers can affect the development of their brains. Another important factor at this stage is their physical development.

Developmental psychology is the scientific study of how and why human beings change over the span of their lifetime. Developmental psychology’s general focus was children and infants but now it has enlarged and now also focuses on adults. Although it would have been logical for me to choose a biopsychologist or neuroscientist as a specialization considering that I am pursuing college to become physician, I chose the topic of developmental psychology because the world is changing rapidly and it is significantly affecting the way the new generations view the world.

Your research paper was interesting and informational regarding juveniles and their development. You provided strong headings along with details for each one. In fact, you mentioned an important statement that juveniles should be addressed different from adults and reasons for your statement. Juveniles inability to fully understand and make stressful decisions on their own is enough reason to treatment them different from adults. The legal age in Georgia regarding jail and housing procedures is 17 but, even at that age most jails consider them juveniles and they are to be housed separately from adults males and females. For example the differences between the five year olds and three year olds are. Three year olds can say his or her name and answer simple questions. As William James once said, “The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind,” (James). William James quote explains that fact humans can change their lives by changing the way they perceive events that happen in their lives. The way a human can understand this concept is through the help of psychology. Psychology is the study of how the human mind works and function through scientific studies. Psychology is an important field in today’s society that can help every career to understand what is going through a customer mind or patient mind. Not only does psychology help understand one’s mind, but it also helps one understand the its surrounding environment and situations.

Psychology is the mental characteristics or attitude of a person or group. It is stimulated by the mental and emotional factors governing any situation encountered in our daily lives. Through vast research, this term has also come to encompass fetuses. Until just a relatively short while ago , a fetus was considered to be an unconscious being. Today, thanks to advances in technology, such as sonograms, and fiber optics ,we have been able to see and study babies inside their mom’s womb.

Jean Piaget, a swiss psychologist from the 1950’s, researched and created a theory for cognitive development during the lifespan. As a theorist, he impacted nursing through his analogies of how the mind develops.The 1950’s theorist developed a theory consisting of three stages: preoperational, concrete operational, and formal operational. Each of Piaget’s stages consisted of different parts of the human lifespan. To add to his research, Piaget also wrote a book to rationalize deferred imitation in a child’s mind. The book was titled Play, Dreams and Imitation in Childhood. Evidence supports Jean Piaget’s theory of cognitive development with a study done by Elizabeth R. Hinde and Nancy Perry that was performed in Arizona. The study consisted of 50 elementary school history teachers who rationalized Piaget’s theory for school curriculum. The study was conducted to test the child’s understanding of historical time and concepts related to the cognitive development of different aged children.

Sequence of Development – means the order in which a child develops. Typical children follow the same pattern of development.
