I think that the skills that I could use and implement in this career is critical thinking, planning, and interpersonal skills. I think that critical thinking is needed since the dietitian needs to analyze the dietary problems of their clients, and to find viable solutions. There might be cases in which the client presents many health problems that might have solutions that conflict with each other, and the dietitian needs to find solutions that ensure the client’s health while also ensuring that their nutritional needs are met. Planning is important in order to ensure that the dietitian plans out the correct course of action for their client. Lastly, interpersonal skills are also very important since the dietitian is required to deal with clients on a daily basis and this demands an ability to socialize. Moreover, on a personal level, I am interested in individuals and socializing, and would like to have a job that entails a lot of human contact. Hence, I believe that being a dietitian would allow me to meet new people on a daily basis. Lastly, this career is one that I believe would allow me to have a semi-flexible schedule. This is a strong value that I have since my own parents always tried their best to make time for me and work around their schedules; hence, I would also like to have a career that allows me to do the same and gives me the liberty to work and take time off.

Based on my research, there are two main steps for becoming a registered dietitian in Canada. The first step is to acquire a bachelor’s degree in the field of food and nutrition. This degree needs to be from an institution
