Difference Between Project Scope And Scope Management

The concept of project scope may be one of the most ample in project management. It involves objectives, limits and intentions. Every requirement in a project as well as its characteristics must be dealt with when planning the scope. Between the immense organization, optimization, and communication assets skilled project management brings to a project, it is easy to see why project management is a booming field of study. Furthermore, project management can be both financially and personally rewarding when long term milestones and goals come to fruition.

Project Scope is defined as the set of activities that must be undertaken to deliver a product, services, or result with defined features and specifications. Defining the scope and then adhering to it through the project life cycle is an integral part of the project. Failing to define the scope appropriately before start or even changing scope as the project proceeds may lead to significant time and cost implications for the project.

In this paper, I, a student of University of Phoenix will explain and discuss project management. I will address three main points. I will first answer what is a project. Secondly, I will discuss what are the basic phases of the project lifecycle and their purpose. Finally, I will explain why it 's important for organizations to use project management to accomplish tasks.

The definition of a project is “a temporary endeavour undertaken to create a unique product or service. Temporary means every project has a definite beginning and an end. The author of this book defines a project as simply a unique specific deliverable that meets a specific purpose. Each project has three components which affect the others: specific scope, schedule, and required resources. Specific scope is the desired results or product while the schedule establishes beginning and ending dates for the project. Required resources are the number of people, funds or other resources needed to complete the project.

Scope management can be defined as the function of creating and overseeing the projects scope. It is critical to have a well-defined scope so an effective project manager can understand what the justification for the project was and who instigated while highlighting the businesses need for it, the clear objectives of the project and what product or results it will produce

Scope is nothing but which refers to project boundaries where it determines what work will be completed during the project lifecycle. This even includes identifying the work which would not be included in the current round of product or service development. A scope in a project is nothing but the proper planning which is made for the project which involves in determining and even documenting a list of specific project goals, deliverables, tasks and deadlines. The documentation which is made for the scope of the project clearly explains the boundaries of a project and also establishes the responsibilities for each team member and sets up procedures for how much the completed work will be verified and approved. The scope of the project which is made helps the project team remained focused on the given task.
