Chapter 1: What is the difference between Latte, Cappuccino, Macchiato and all other drinks?
Research carried out in 2015 indicated that more than four hundred (400) billion cups of coffee is consumed worldwide each year. Apart from its great taste, irresistible flavor and extra boost that coffee beverages offer, another main contributor to the high level of coffee consumption is the wide variety of drinks available. The five most popular methods for preparing coffee that you may use to make your favorite beverage are; espresso, drip, brew and filter, plunger method, and the percolator.
Coffee beverages are distinguished by their ingredients, preparation time and drink volume. Often times the ingredients used to make many coffee drinks are similar, but those ingredients are used in different proportions. All coffee drinks are prepared differently and most beverages are based on espresso drink. For better clarification, the main differences between the varieties of coffee beverages will be separated into two categories; non-milk based coffee beverages and milk based coffee beverages.

The beverage is prepared using frothed milk, which has some steam milk, but a lot more microfoam. The espresso drink is prepared first, then the frothed milk is added slowly to allow steamed milk to be poured before topping off the drink with the thick froth. There are two variations of the cappuccino beverage, wet cappuccino and dry cappuccino. The wet cappuccino beverage has more steamed milk than a regular cappuccino and the dry cappuccino has more foam than the regular cappuccino.
