According to Bowen (2011), there are four models for deploying cloud services (p1). A private cloud is private. Meaning it is yours and operated only for you. However, the private cloud can be outsourced to be managed by another. As the owner of the private cloud you can dictate your security and privacy options yourself. A community cloud is shared with others. By working with a community, the consumers should have shared requirements, security, and privacy options. Another type of cloud is the public cloud. This type of cloud is open to the public or it could be a large consumer who owns the cloud and is offering the services to consumers for a price. The last type of cloud is the hybrid. A hybrid cloud can both be private and community. The clouds are tied together but are still separate. The clouds share data and application portability.

So, what is actually cloud computing and how does it work? “Cloud computing refers to a model of computing that provides access to a shared pool of computing resources (computers, storage, applications, and services), over a network, often the Internet. These “clouds” of computing resources can be accessed on an as-needed basis from any connected device and location” (Kenneth 2012). So basically cloud computing connects one device to another device through the Internet, and it could share virtually any type of file from one device to another. There are three main types of cloud services: public, private and hybrid. All three services addresses different requirement and concerns, and they have their own advantages and disadvantages.
A private cloud refers to an in-house cloud system that is set up and maintained by a companies own IT staff. This provides a company with the flexibility to manage all of the details of their data storage which they could not get with a publicly-hosted cloud. On the downside, this is more expensive to maintain and requires the cost of buying the physical infrastructure.

With the cloud, you are saving files and using programs from the Internet, which allows you to use any computer with Internet access. The key advantage of cloud computing is scalability. This means that it adapts to your needs and workload. The main difference is when it comes to resources like software applications, storage space, etc., which have fixed capacities and upfront costs. Cloud computing allows you to only pay for what you need, avoiding unused capacities.
