Technology is constantly advancing, which causes a need for mobile and wireless networks. However, the creation of mobile and wireless networks causes a need to increase security protocols and measures. Cell phones are now being used for sensitive work information, as well as laptops. Many people have the capability of working from home by using laptops issued by their employers. Using a home or public network is not always safe, it does not have the security and systems to monitor the network and access. Before any work is done on these devices the proper security needs to be in place such as firewalls, pop-up blockers, and private network connections. However, there are both advantages and disadvantages to the use of wireless networking and what is will be like in the future. To start, a wireless network or Wi-Fi “is a technology that allows electronic devices to exchange data or connect to the Internet through wireless communications using 2.4 GHz signals or 5 GHz signals. Wi-Fi is also used to synonymously to indicate a wireless local area network (WLAN) based on the IEEE 802.11 protocol” (Ghosh, Sinha B, K, 2016, p. 4). Mobile networking and Wi-Fi are key factors in society. Wi-Fi was invented and first released in 1997. Becki Wood wrote an article titled “History of WiFi” in the article she says “WiFi has played an integral role in keeping us connected at home and in public. We’ve come to expect a standard degree of connectivity wherever we go, and regularly rely on
Nowadays there are also keyboards and mousses that can be connected via Wi-Fi. It’s a wireless technology that allows computers and other type of electronic devices to communicate through a wireless signal. Wi-Fi is the most common way to connect computers to wireless networks.
Today frequency hoping, wifi, is used in phones, tablets, computers, etc. Without wifi these devices wouldn't be what we know them today as. They might not even exist. They would used for simple things such as calculations or simple games. Imagine life without the internet. Well without wifi the Internet would not exist, and the world would be a totally different place. Another thing the devices would be used for would be word processing. We could still have Word, but it might not have all the cool features it has today. For example, wouldn't exist, or wireless printing. Just think about if you had to have a printer plugged into every computer just so you could print an essay. To say the least these products wouldn't exist, or they would not be that popular without the invention of wifi.
Wireless networks have become a major part in the operation of businesses and in people’s lives. Wireless networks can provide fast speed internet connections without having to use wired connections. Businesses are doing much better with wireless networks because they don’t have to pay the costs of installing wired networks and people can work easier because they do not have wires running all over the place. Now with wireless networks in place, businesses are able to connect to their other branches and buildings within their area as well.
Wifi can be used to check the time on our phones, but more importantly it can be used to check the weather. Back a few years when I still lived in Russia, our home currently had access to wifi. So one day we decided to take some friends and go to the park; before that, we checked the weather. So my mother whipped out her phone and checked it, only to see that a thunderstorm would commence within the next hour. Therefore, wifi had protected my family from getting wet and from possibly getting a cold.
One reason why wifi is used is to make lots and lots of money that people that work for wifi companies make through ads. It's also used with other people like family, you can use it with
Both Mobile and Wireless network, in today’s world the current use of both concepts has
The invention of wifi didn't start as, well, wifi. It started with a woman named Hedy Lamar. She was born Jewish during WW2. She fled to America where she became the most beautiful actress ever. People saw her only for her looks, not her brains. She invented many things, stupid things, like a new Kleenex box. But, one day, she thought that if pianos could hop from note to note, so could radios from frequency to frequency. So she and a partner invented Frequency Hopping. Her thought process was if radios hopped from signal to signal, it couldn't be jammed or hacked into. It was called, Frequency Hopping. It was presented to the Navy, and they turned it down. Lamar got a patent for it, but in years later sold it off to the Navy. She watched it
As you may know, wifi is used for almost anything these days. They are specifically very useful in many electronic devices. Some things I use wifi for is my smartphone (Iphone). In order to do certain things on mobile devices i would defiantly need wifi so this is one helpful reason.
Wifi allows us to search things up by using a browser (Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc.). A lot of people today find things out by simply typing in a word or phrase and can get information about the subject or object easily. All we have to do is type in a
As you probably realized, you use wifi everyday for multiple reasons. What you probably didn't know was how wifi came about. Many years ago, a lady named Hedy Lamar befriended a Hollywood composer named George Antheil. Together, they realized if a player piano could jump from note to note, so could a radio signal. Hedy proposed the idea to the Navy to torpedo German U-Boats in the Atlantic, but she was turned down and told to try and raise money instead. Throughout the years, Lamar's career started to slowly decline as others stole her idea of frequency hopping. In the end, Hedy earned no money from her idea, and her beauty was much more noticed than her brains.
The main benefit of Wi-Fi is that you can move around without having to trail around an Ethernet cable, even though wireless speeds are usually worse, it gives you more portability with your WiFi enabled device, a few devices are laptop, tablet and phone.
A wireless network is any type of computer network that uses wireless data connections for connecting network nodes .Wireless networking is a method by which homes, telecommunications networks and enterprise (business).Installations avoid the costly process of introducing cables into a building, or as a connection between various equipment locations. Wireless telecommunications networks are generally implemented and administered using radio communication. This implementation takes place at the physical level (layer) of the OSI model network structure.
Thesis; Along with the efficiency mobile devices render, come along its risks, in which raises substantial security and privacy concerns. It’s important to be aware of the possible threats a mobile can have, along with knowing what and how to secure information, as well as trying to prevent threats from happening.
The term “WiFi” is a trademark of the WiFi alliance, a trade association who promotes LAN technologies and certifies products. The term “WiFi” was adopted in 1999 as a branding term. It is an acronym for wireless fidelity. Any device that has a stamp of WiFi certification must meet the IEEE 802.11 standards meaning that the devices capabilities are compatible with other certified devices.
The wide popularity of the wireless Networks is quite a testament relating primarily to their conveniences, cost
