Some of the strengths of Divergent are that every chapter has action, there’s always something exiting going on in the book, Tris is always doing something fun or exiting. Tris climbs the Ferris wheel, she’s the first jumper in initiation, Tris zip lines off of a one hundred story building. Some of the weaknesses are that sometimes in between all the excitement and action are some parts that are a little boring or unnecessary. In one of the chapters, Tris comes out of the shower/bathroom and Peter, Drew, and Molly where in the dormitory and Tris goes to her bunk to get different clothes and they go on either side of her. Tris goes under Peters arm and Peter grabs her towel and Tris runs out of the dormitory into the shower/bathroom naked. The author is Veronica Roth and the genre of this book is science fiction. I hope I encouraged you to read Divergent if you haven’t already. I would recommend this book because there is a lot of action and excitement. Tris jumps off a building, zip lines of a one hundred story building, and stops Jeanine’s plan to take over the government. She goes from being ranked almost last to being ranked first. Tris overcomes her fears and the dauntless leaders don’t find out that’s she’s divergent until she lets them

Enclave by Ann Aguirre, and To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, are both novels with amazing storylines and thought provoking content. With her new accomplice Fade, she grows to find strength and resistance against a leadership system withholding her from the true freedom beyond the tunnels. As the world around her unravels, for better or for worse, Deuce proves to be much more than can be contained by the enclave. Lee’s book follows Jean Louise “Scout” Finch and her family. Documenting the daily life and drama in the town of Maycomb. Mystery lurks with the mysterious Boo Radley
Astray by Amy Christine Collins is the sequel to the book Gated. Lyla Hamilton is a 17 year old girl that joined a gated community that is prepared for the apocalypse. The dystopian futures each conveyed in Suzanne Collins’ novel The Hunger Games and Neil Burger’s film Divergent highlight the dangers of power, containment, corruption and the absolute abuse of control within the leadership ranks of their state. Suzanne Collins presents Katniss Everdeen, a young teenager from District 12, who courageously volunteers as a tribute for the annual Hunger Games in the country of Panem. The government’s demonstrates its abuse of power through its corruptive nature. Neil Burger introduces Tris Prior, a teenager living under the factional system in the city of Chicago; she starts a small secretive rebellion against the immoral actions of the governments and its dominance over each faction and its citizens. Both Katniss
Since The Hunger Games and the Divergent trilogies hit the scene and dominated pop culture, young adult (YA) authors who specialize in sci-fi and dystopian genres have been creating novels left and right, trying to capture the popularity of Suzanne Collins and Veronica Roth’s series. However, I thought the novels I read in those genres were quite disappointing. Recently, though, I read the YA dystopian, sci-fi novel Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi, and I was really impressed.
“One choice decides your friends. One choice defines your beliefs. One choice determines your loyalties-forever. One choice transforms you,” (Roth, back cover) What do you choose? Well, for Beatrice, the main character in Divergent, it is not an easy choice. Set in a futuristic Chicago, Beatrice is faced with an internal conflict; what faction should she choose? She and her brother, Caleb have a hard time deciding, but Beatrice chooses Dauntless despite what her father wants her to choose. In Dauntless she starts the initiation process that is full of physical and mental training that includes fights and simulations. Along the way she finds and loses friends and enemies. Divergent by Veronica Roth is a thrilling book due to the intense conflict/
In Veronica Roth’s, Divergent, there are five different factions. Our own society can be compared to the society in Divergent. Each faction believes in something different, Abnegation believe in selflessness, Dauntless believe in being brave, Candor believe in honesty, Amity believe in peace, and the Erudite believe in Intelligence. Each faction represents something different in their society, this is why the people are divided into factions. This can be compared in many ways to our modern society, for example everyone believes in different things.
Being able to join Abnegation, Erudite, and Dauntless Beatrice Prior is Divergent. This has to be kept a secret from everyone, for the Erudite hunts the so called Divergent because they can manipulate the systems simulations. This could end Beatrice’s life so she has to choose her faction. Dauntless or Abnegation? This is her first challenge in the book Divergent.
Published April 25th, 2011, Divergent follows its protagonist Beatrice “Tris” Prior and her life in a post-apocalyptic Chicago. In this society, people are divided up into factions: Abnegation, Dauntless, Erudite, Amity, and Candor. Each faction
Beatrice explains how she is not afraid of the dangerous activities she participates in she only does this to seek others approval and robbery accepted in a group. Growing up in the weak faction, Abnegation she would be picked on never felt she had strong support group so she seeks approval from others so she felt the need to do risky things she was not truly afraid of. While speaking with Four for a long-time Beatrice thinks about how she finally feels as she belongs somewhere when she said “I have associated his smell with safety, so as long as I focus on it, I feel safe now” (467). In this scene, Beatrice explains that she finally belongs a part of something and is not left out or picked.
Veronica Roth uses a combination of dystopian societies and teenage protagonists in her writing to mirror today's society. Her Divergent series and Carve the Mark series both follow the same idea. It is through the eyes of the young female protagonist who teams up with her friends to take down an authoritarianism government. In Divergent the dystopian world is defined by a faction system--a system in which everyone is split into separate groups based on personality. Members of one of the factions decide they are more fit to lead the city and start a revolution, which in turn gives the main character motive to fight for her freedom.
If you enjoy reading romance, suspense, and dangerously AMAZING books, than “Divergent”, by Veronica Roth, is definitely the book for you. “Divergent” is full of surprises, suspense, and some romantic scenes.
