Adderall is used to treat Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) and Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) (Adderall 1).

I first tried this drug last year to see what effect it would have on my attention problems, and I had no idea that I would find myself enjoying it so much or consider it so beneficial. I used both extended and rapid release adderall many times throughout the course of last year to help me better focus on my school work and to complete major assignments like papers or studying for tests. After my experiences with adderall I began to question the possibility that I was suffering from ADHD, a disorder that runs in my family. Since entering college I have felt my concentration abilities plummet significantly, and I have developed other habits such as receptive foot bobbing and the inability to stay on task. The prevalence of side effects is just as common as how easy the drug is to get your hands on. With almost every student reporting multiple side effects that all seem to be pretty negative towards your health it makes you begin to wonder if the drug is in-fact a good thing for you to be doing. These side effects also worsen if taken with alcohol which could also be a very common thing from a college student. From 2005-2010, the number of emergency room visits due to ADHD medications nearly quadrupled in young adults with about half of those cases being due to Adderall mixed with drinking. Students report taking the prescription stimulants to stay hype to party, a really negative outlook on Adderall considering about %90 of college students attest to binge drinking.

Taking Adderall when you do not have ADHD can lead to serious consequences. The human body requires sleep in order to function properly. Adderall being an amphetamine, causes sleep deprivation, which is one of the many dangers associated with such a drug. Adderall, which was established for the sole purpose for those diagnosed with the disorder, is, unfortunately, beginning to be used recreationally and casually by those who, in fact, don’t actually suffer from ADHD. College students, for example, realized that utilizing this drug forces them to perform better both inside and outside of the classroom. As an undergraduate student, one knows that Adderall is considered a student’s best friend. Also, contradictory to the belief that Adderall, and drugs like it, are safe, it is very possible to OD form Adderall abuse. Amphetamine and Dextroamphetamine are central nervous system stimulants that affects chemicals in the brain and nerves that contribute to hyperactivity and impulse control. Adderall is used to treat humans with Narcolepsy and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder ( ADHD. ) Adderall can be used for many other things but Narcolepsy and ADHD are the main things Adderall is used for. Some people today use Adderall to either overdose or to combine with other drugs to create a “high” affect on inside their bodies and minds which can cause serious harm to their bodies that can also lead to death. However, researchers advise that because the numbers may be higher than what was stated since adults that were not treated in their childhood are more likely to stay untreated. People that suffer from ADHD often have serious problems in school and communicating with others. It is also connected with various conditions such as mood, demeanor, and learning disorders. Narcolepsy is another common condition that is treated with Adderall. It is categorized as a sleeping disorder which causes, “excessive sleepiness, sleep paralysis, hallucinations, and in some cases episodes of cataplexy (partial or total loss of muscle control, often triggered by a strong emotion such as laughter)5”. The disorder occurs correspondingly in men and women and researchers think that it affects about one in two-thousand people.
