I am highly interested in the opportunity to strengthen my personal and professional skillset by obtaining my Master of Science in Safety Sciences through Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s Online Program. Earning an MS in Safety Sciences will enable me become a greater asset to the EHS (environmental, health, and safety) profession. With my Master’s, I plan to lead and develop top level EHS programs within organizations and establish a consulting firm to manage all aspects of EHS.

In August of 2016, I took the initiative to study and obtain my ASP (Associate Safety Professional) certification with future aspirations to become a CSP (Certified Safety Professional) upon completion of the work history requirements. The dedication to my current career goals provides an example of the work ethic I will offer to the IUP MS program.
By adding a Master’s degree to my education, I will be able to expand my technical and managerial knowledge and skills around environmental, health and safety topics. The program at IUP will enhance my leadership abilities, give me the opportunity to participate in cutting-edge research, and acquire greater communication skills. I have attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh for the last two years. I will be entering my junior year pursuing a Bachelor Degree of Science with a major in Environmental Studies. My career interests entail green energy and natural resource management. I was a young child when I started attending a summer camp program that emphasized nature and environmental conservation—ever since I have made outdoor activities into hobbies and continued interest in environmental sustainability. Pursing a career as a medical doctor is an opportunity for me to mentor youth in underserved populations. As a child, I was raised in the low income, urban community of Roxbury, MA. Although not as notorious today, the neighborhood had garnered negative attention for its high crime rates. My mother emigrated from Haiti and raised me as a single parent. Everyone has a dream or something they want to follow in life. Some want material gain while others want to help as many people as they can. I’m not saying wanting material gain is a bad thing, but what I am saying is that for me, money is not the number one concern when my dream is to help others. Before reaching her five-year employment milestone of Amanda employer should be actively working towards achieving Amanda’s Associate Safety Professional certification. Assessing the importance of this certification into the Amanda Career Development plan is very beneficial to gaining the need experience and knowledge Amanda will need for her first career advancement. The Associate Safety Professional certification is the first step in beginning the process of achieving the CSP Certification.
