This article discusses how the early educational environment can increase stress. A study discussed in this article was done involving children from the ages of four to six in various childcare centers. The children’s cortisol levels were measured throughout the day. Teachers at the childcare centers observed the children’s play behavior throughout the day and the quality of the learning environment was also assessed. The study found that cortisol levels were higher in the morning and decreased throughout the day. Some of the children had different cortisol levels, some higher than the others. It was found that the quality of the day care can determine cortisol levels, with higher quality meaning lower cortisol levels. I felt that the study
Chapter two discusses various theorists that helped to mold and shape early childhood education to where it is today. There are several different theorists that contributed to the development of early childhood education. Some of these theorists include Alfred Adler, Jean Piaget, Lev Vygotsky, and John Dewey. Each theorist developed a unique theory that has caused early childhood guidance and education to flourish like it has today. Without learning and building on these theories, early childhood guidance and education would never develop or change. The chapter explains how some theories may seem strange to the contemporary families, but these theories are the foundation of how early childhood education got to where it is today. The book goes
“Early roots of play as a best practice for early learning was documented by Plato, a Greek philosopher, who insisted that play is considered a natural activity of childhood.”(Ingrid Crowther, 2011, Pg. 2) Early Childhood Education is a term that refers to educational programs that are devoted to children from birth to the age of eight. “Children of this age learn by exploring and investigating; therefore, their environment should support and encourage this process.”(Rebecca Isbell and Betty Exelby, 2001, Pg. 11) Early childhood environments should be attractive and exciting. These environments should allow children to work and play using proper resources, materials, and tools.
Saumya Patel is 5 years old. He attends Kindergarten at Sumter County Primary School in the Sumter County School System. Saumya is very intelligent, and is very far ahead of many of the students on his level. He is very independent, and he is very capable of doing many things on his own. Saumya sometimes questions why he sits in a kindergarten classroom with his intelligence. He does not understand why some of his classmates act their age.
This research report presents an analysis of and conclusions drawn from the experiences and perspectives of two educators that work in the early childhood setting. The main objective is to identify key elements and issues in relation to the families, diversity and difference. In particular how an early childhood educator implements, different approaches to honour culture and diversity, and to advocate for social justice in an early childhood settings. As such, it allows an insight into the important role that families and their background plays in the everyday lives of the children and educators within early childhood settings. In today’s ever-changing growing society it is essential for educators to be flexible to the
Early education for children is very crucial as it helps shape up the foundation of their knowledge and behavior development process. Children begin to develop the sense of curiosity from the age of two. And from age 2-8, children go through a very crucial period of mental development, which shapes up their future mindset (Grayson, 2016). Early children education (ECE) has been listed as the number one priority of the National Association of Education. The teachers or educators at nursery and primary level are responsible to for developing young children’s sense of knowledge and education. In this paper, we will assess the roles and skills that are vital for an early childhood educator. Moreover, the paper will also present a
We had the opportunity to sit-in at two different primary schools, and each provided us with valuable insight into the early education system in Ireland. The first school we visited was an all Irish-speaking Catholic school. The second was an educate-together primary school. The educate-together primary school differed from the educate-together secondary schools we had visited in that they did not require students to wear uniforms. These two schools fundamentally differed in many ways both from the secondary schools and from one another.
My early education shaped my motivations and philosophy in both negative and positive ways. At a young age, I became motivated to read and learn as much as possible. I regularly outperformed all of my peers in school and became focused on showing everyone that I was superior to them. Consequently, I continued to perform better and became convinced that I was smarter than my classmates and friends. Despite being given chances to excel in elementary school; in fifth, sixth, and seventh grade I was not sufficiently challenged and was disappointed that my time in school felt wasted. This was particularly frustrating because I had contemplated skipping sixth grade, but was discouraged to do so. Halfway through seventh grade I had the opportunity to challenge myself again. This time it did not influence my motivation or work habits; instead, I learned self-humility and had my personal philosophy reshaped.

Early childhood programs offer a family type environment, so children and their families feel welcome and safe. When coming to an early childhood program the Professional staff helps children adjust in the program environment and help children respect different diverse multicultural children that they will come in contact with. Families will also be explain and taught how to respect the different diversity of the multicultural surroundings. I believe that supporting early learning and development is my major focus in my exploration. With this said, I still think that two other competency contests will be addressed. Planning and guiding early learning and development, along with creating and maintaining program policies and practices are super beneficial and will be incorporated into my exploration as well. I say this because I believe that you cannot support early learning without being able to plan and guide as well as following the correct protocol and policies. All three of these topics all correlate with one another, therefor; these three topics will all be tackled when exploring my topic.
As a parent are you choosing the right path for your kids to grow up on? Are you kid’s futures based off where you chose for your kids to their education? There is a lot to consider when it comes to deciding where you send your kids to college. The most common are public, private, or even a mixture of both. This topic has often been debated due to that fact of the children’s futures could be at stake or does early education even matter where you start. There are many aspects to look at, but in your childhood, education will impact how well one does in the future.
How do children’s experiences and natural abilities impact their performance in school, and how should this influence teacher’s philosophy of education?
Due to the fact that I am an early education major, I have compiled this proposal for future reference. Over the next few weeks, I will be engaging the idea of providing an adequate number of textbooks and resources for each student in the classroom. It is apparent to me that this is a relevant issue within several schools that I had the privilege and opportunity to observe. I learned that by requiring this act as a necessity students and staff would be benefiting in numerous ways. In order to make this proposal possible, I will need to discuss the many areas of providing textbooks with the superintendent and principals at Columbia Elementary School. I will deliver information that I have come across, find reliable sources and articles about
While higher education obtained through college remains highly sought after to initiate stable career paths, the early education received by children during the first eight years is just as crucial to this development. Research spanning decades proves that a lack of a primitive education is the equivalent of renouncing a benefit that contributes to the basis of a successful future. This paper discusses the importance of early education, opportunity cost
There is more evidence starting to come out about the physiological stress response to cortisol reactivity. This article explores early childhood social buffering. In the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis, there is a period of development where it is heightened for programming of information from the environment. Parents play a huge role in the development of a child in their early life. They helping the developing child learn how they are supposed to react in society. This article looks a model of social buffering through the social support when placed in situations that cause for acute stressors and cortisol response. They test this across periods of chronic stress in children involved in welfare systems. They also highlight current things that enforce social buffering to help the performance of hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis across childhood. They also further the argument by reporting their findings in a way that will
