The education systems of today are deeply flawed. Schools attempt to conform the way students think oppressing creativity and ingenuity. Schools today are falling away from the true focus of education. Schools are replacing effective teaching with needless and tedious assignments, only to overwork students. Since when is staying up until one in the morning doing pointless assignments more valuable than having free time to explore passions and learning life lessons through experience? Schools today are not preparing students to be lifelong learners and successful participants in the real world at an adequate level. Schools kill creativity. Students are not given chances to explore their interests, by being forced to follow a structured curriculum. Ideas that do not Alline within assignment guidelines are quickly disregarded. Many students can’t succeed un such a flawed system that limits their curious nature and personal passions. In a ted talk by Ken Robinson titled “does school kill creativity” (Robinson, 2006) he talks about a girl who struggled throughout school. Her ability to focus and grades were not great. But she loved to dance. She learned best when she was moving, which schools restrict. Because of this she transferred to a dance school where she became a successful and eventually professional dancer. If she had continued attending a regular school, it would have killed her passion and she would not have been able to succeed to that extent later in life due to
At first thought, I thought that our education system was alright, but I was only thinking about my school in particular, where there are not many fights or serious altercations or problems and the school is kept in a nice condition. However, I was on Youtube one day and saw a video about some of the most dangerous schools in North America and realized that not all high schools are the same and that there were a lot of flaws in the way that our education system favours to the higher class and the lower class can manage with what they get. It is also similar with learning styles - kids who are able to learn through memorization and reading excel while kids who are visual learners or need fundamental objects in order to understand the concept being taught suffer. This is also negative for students, like myself, who cannot always get exactly what they are thinking down
Students are subjected to in-proper education; as well as, harsh and unhealthy environment at school. The educational system has failed to adequately provide the best quality education to the students. In turn, leaving both the students and parents with uncertainty of a prosperous education. If I were to change the education system I will begin with students of K-12 attending public schools; and the changes I would propose. In addition, teachers need a different way of educating students; were they can obtain a comprehensive education. Lastly, the education system and politicians need to focus on the un-ethical practices performing at the schools.
Our education system does seem to be in trouble for the way that it is headed, but also a lack of motivation from the children seems to aid in the problems. It is said that America keeps up well with other leading nations in the early years of education, but as soon as kids start to grow older getting good grades just for that special trip to get ice cream doesn’t seem to be enough anymore and as the high grades begin to “weaken as students move through school.” (Bethell).
Over the course of many years, several things have changed, including technology, science, and people; however, our culture and idea of education have not. Some of these problems include teachers that are not being as valued as they should be and students who are changing both physically and mentally, but are still not being supported by our education system. The education system itself is also problematic as well, but it can be fixed with a change in our culture. Teachers and students are the base of the education system, and by not helping them, the system is not helping itself. Students are gaining new emotions and viewpoints, but the education system has had a hard time keeping up, even teachers are changing but are still undervalued.
Currently, education has been a system of miss-education. I believe that children are pushed out of high
In “Project Classroom Makeover” by Cathy Davidson, has many great ideas and facts about why should the school system should change. Although i may agree in some points as like the school system is working as a factory. I believe that changing some aspects like the way we learn things can and may keep the kids coming to school. For example, in my classes some of my classmates struggle the way the teacher teaches us so when they ask for my help i have tried different methods and it works. They start to understand instead of struggling but that’s because i didn’t choose to teach it the same way as the teacher. And with this experience i noticed that teaching the same way all the time won’t work students will be struggling because they learn in
What is it that’s making our country suffer from excelling in education? Very few would argue about the importance of our education system today. Issues such as lazy teachers, lack of parent involvement, and teaching useless information in class may hinder progress in today’s education system. An education plays a crucial role and is an essential tool, unfortunately, with all the jaded judgments; our students are not able to value their education. A proper education can open the doors to many opportunities that would have never been possible if it had not been for the knowledge and preparation that one received while in school. With the growing economy and desperate times, it is more important than ever for our country’s children to receive the proper education and training that is needed to allow them to acquire a good job and produce the revenue needed to live. Today's education system is flawed in many ways, and these flaws should be eliminated to ensure a good education for our future generation.
Nelson Mandela once said “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Depending on how you use education, to help to world or to manipulate the world, it is a powerful weapon to be used. The global community has several issues and problems that need addressed and fixed, however, the lack of education and the misuse of education is a global issue in itself. Due to this lack of education or misuse of education, there are even more global issues as a result. According to Proverbs 18:21, “the tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” Anyone can pick an issue in the world, but in order to make a real change that matters, the real trick is to be educated on an issue, become passionate about it, and turn that passion into a lesson for all.
Struggles always seem to be external, but we are always destroyed from the inside out. Ignorance is a major downfall in the African American community due to white-washing and social reprogramming through peers, media, and other daily influences. It is almost impossible receive any beneficial, truthful information regarding African American history unrelated to slavery and the figures in the Civil Rights Movement that only white America deems “positive”. Classes educating the African American community are essential to our progress as a whole. One line from the aforementioned quote from a speech given by Malcolm X says: “Education is the passport to the future.” Africana Studies is one way to assist in the education of younger generations and instill in them the traditions of our people to keep the flame of African American heritage alive.
If you are like millions around the world, you may be frustrated with the state of the education system. A system which leaves us in debt, grants degrees that do not guarantee jobs or happiness, earns us only ordinary jobs that are not fulfilling; jobs where we survive instead of thrive. When I went to high school, I spent a large amount of time studying subjects such as geography, math, history, and etc. kids are still studying these subjects, and these are truly important, but the
One of the biggest flaws that I believe our education system has, has to do with the pupil having to submit to a curriculum that might not necessarily help them grow, but rather hinder them from their true talents, as they are pushed to concentrate on subjects that might not stimulate interest in them. Education should push students to develop own perception and genius, and to do so, the pupil should be allowed to explore and study more in depth what they are
Eight thirty, arrive at school. Eight forty-five turn off phone. Nine o’clock, care starts. Nine ten, start period one. Ten twenty, start period two. Eleven thirty start first break. Twelve ten start period three. One twenty start second break. One fifty start period four and three o’clock go home. This has been my routine every school day for the past five years, it has been the mindless process that I have followed and accepted all this time. And this brings me to my point, school teaches conformity and destroys creativity.
Modern education has, over time, taken the focus off of learning how to learn and has decided to focus on telling the students what they should learn. They are not given any tools to learn for themselves. The modern school classroom has a teacher stand in front of a crowded classroom and he/she tells the students information. They are given very little room to ask question and find answers. Without the proper foundation of information the children are less likely to remember what is being taught and worse they are unable to find out more information because they have not been given the tools to dig deep into subjects. They are expected to give back these fragments of information in order to prove the teacher did their job. They are not asked to assess the validity of the information they are given and question whether or not it
One problem of the current system is that it is a one fits all style of system. It does not recognize the different skill levels, learning styles or interests of students. From an early age, students are placed in classes based on age not skill level. Therefore it is likely that they will find some subjects too difficult, while other subjects at the same level they may find too easy. In an ideal education system, students would be able to take individual subjects at their skill level as opposed to taking all subjects at a level based on their age.
I faced so many toughest challenges in life and still facing. Accepting challenges and facing it and resolving it, makes you learn many things in life and I think it takes you ahead always. For me continuing my education was always associated with the dream. I am from Pakistan, where getting an education is difficult for girls. Society looks at girls education is not as right because they should always stay at home. Things changed when my mother took the first step in my family, to make my way towards education. She does not want me to stay at home, and end up like other girls. She wants me to be independent make a difference. She wants me to live my own dream not the one society wants me to live.
